Gamestop Preorder Bonuses Require Pickup?

Someone told me many years ago that it was possible to get preorder bonuses for Gamestop at the time you reserved a game, and not purchase the game later.  Is this still true?  Does it only apply to DLC or does it apply to all bonuses?  Some?

 
It depends on what you pre order and how it works.

I remember a Pokemon game that gave you free posters when you put at least $5 down.

But most are when you pick it up.

 
Or ask about any leftover preorder bonuses a few weeks after release. Some stores have extra lying around they may just give to you if you ask nicely.
