EA is possibly removing microtransactions from SW Battlefront II.
This would be such a massive change it'd be hard to see it coming quickly. For them to completely remove microtransactions it would have to mean literally revamping their entire progression system.
The only way it seems feasible would be if DICE designed the game that way from the beginning, but in the last few months EA mandated the progression being tied to lootboxes. They announced the pre-order bonus including a Yoda card all the way back during E3 I think so it'd have to be from before then.
I think best case scenario would be a complete removal of the boxes for now, with them coming back as cosmetic only once cosmetics are ready. They maybe could keep them for now if they only put credits and crafting parts in them, and have the hypothetical old XP based progression system back in place.
Anything beyond this seems unfeasible in the short term, if the devs in the Reddit AMA were telling the truth. One of the the few non-PR bullshit answers basically said cosmetics are coming but need time to be created, and they sort of implied they were planned for launch but they didn't make it in time.
Honestly if they remove the microtransactions (or make them cosmetic only like Overwatch) I probably will buy the game at some point. I want the game to be good and it would send the message the they can make money doing non-scummy things.
