They’re normally pretty good at making sure the gift card (whether bought online or in-store) is not active until the following day. Otherwise you could just keep rolling $270 into $300 :O

I'll definitely be holding onto the BF 20% coupon that's good until the 8th until after I can get a gift card for whatever amount I can estimate to finish Christmas shopping. Every little bit helps!

If it’s just 4-6 hours before activation, that’d be news to me.

You can definitely buy a target gift card w/ another target gift card. But doing so will draw you some sketchy looks.

I used to do that on eBay all the time. When they used to do spend 40 get 50 in gift, I would just chain gift cards and everytime it poped up it was just free money.

If you pay an order in full via GC, does it still recognize the redcard for the 5% discount (for 15% total)? Otherwise I might not jump on this for only an extra 5% discount on top of what I usually get.

Yeah, in that case I don't think I'll keep my money tied up in these. There's nothing I urgently need.
In the past the target checkout page has been glitched to allow it. When ready to checkout, choose to pay with red card. Final page shows up with 5% taken off everything. If you scroll down a bit you could find the field for a gift card code still there. Entering the gift card at that point didn't take away any discount provided some small portion at least was paid with red card.

Not sure if it's been fixed yet but it's been this way quite awhile. In store however, the POS will apply the 5% properly.

Sometimes it works online, sometimes it doesn't. I haven't tried in a while, though

I believe last year I used the Target gift cards to purchase ebay gift cards in store.

The worker didn't care and was like cool, it works.
I don't believe there are any exclusions to what you can buy with the cards. But there are deeper discounts out there right now at other stores such as Dollar General for restaurant and gaming cards.

They changed their policy a few months ago where you can't buy any 3rd party gift cards like restaurant, entertainment and gaming cards with a Target gift card.

Wow. That's it for me then. For the record, that is perhaps the most moronic store policy I've ever heard of.

Edit: I just left Target and the manager at the front of the store verbally confirmed that Target gift cards can no longer be used to purchase other types of gift cards. :(

Sucks that discover cc didn't do Target this year for the quarter, did it last year and got 10% back since it was my first year of cashback and it was doubled from 5%. Tho that card is useless now other than the quarterly stuff they killed a bunch of stuff on it.

Thanks for mentioning this, I really would only want it for more eShop cards. (Yeah I know Dollar General just had a better deal, I bought $200 worth there thinking it would last me awhile, and then spent almost half of that right away on Smash + DLC packs so now I wish I bought even more lol.)

Someone actually tried that grandparent scam on my grandma. It was one of the dumbest conversations I've ever had.

My phone rings.

Dad "are you in jail?"

No. What?!?

So you're not in jail?

No. Dad, wtf are you talking about?

Your grandma got called by someone saying they that they were you in jail and you needed her to pay XX amount of money for bail on gift cards. She asked why your voice sounded so much different and was told your nose got broken in a fight.

Just kept going on like this. Then had to call my grandma who was crying and convince her that

1) I didnt make that phone call.

2) I wasnt in jail.

3) it was a scam and why/how because she still didnt understand.

Such a stupid day. fuck these scammers.

We're getting a lot of these at work but more of the blackmail schemes. They have your email address and a legitimate password from a previous hack and try to scare them into buying gift cards saying they have a video of them surfing porn. It terrifies staff because it is an actual password they use.

It sucks having to support close to 20,000 users :/

Lol. If these assholes spent even 5% of their ability and effort into bettering society we would solve almost every world issue.

I remember working retail and having to check watermarks and other stuff on $20's because people were bleaching $5's and reprinting them as $20 so they pass the pen test.

Everyone started verifying the last 4 digits on a CC swipe because people were stealing cards, cutting out the strip and putting it into another card. So then checking ID would match the card but the infi being ran was different than what was printed.

Looks like the plain Xbox One X is on sale for $399 today, safe to assume that when the gift card balance is available tomorrow that it will still be on sale? It's not listed in their normal Sunday weekly ad.

I was able to buy Target gift cards with Target gift cards in store today. My job would pay me in Target gift cards as a bonus (temporary work), so I was able to make a $35 profit with this gift card deal. For the past 3 years I have been doing this and this year is no different.

I would love to see a video of me surfing porn because I probably was.

Yep. Like I said, one of the dumbest conversations I've ever had. Starting with, no I'm not in jail. How tf would I be answering my cell phone if I was in jail?

Was supposed to be putting money on a Visa gc or something like that to pay bail.

You guy instantly are looking for ways to exploit this and wonder why stores are doing less and less promotions..... smh
Just a reminder that major corporations (Walmart, Amazon, Target, etc.) scam us everyday all day long for billions. Legally taking advantage of promotions they're running isn't a scam. They are free to decide not to accept gift cards as payment for other gift cards, but at the end of the day, it's our money and we should be free to spend it on anything they sell.

LOL Whatever you say champ.
What exactly do you think a "sale" is? It's telling you how much they make off you at regular price. Do you pay taxes? Because your tax dollars are making up for what Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc. don't pay their workers in wages. Funny how it's "just business" when they do it but when we legally accept their offers we're "scamming." Corporatist much?
