Gift card doesn't show in cart, I chatted with a rep who stated it will be emailed after purchase.

Thomas:Thank you so much for waiting,
I have checked and the promo will be credited to you and I have reported it to the promotions team and they will add this to your account and will send you a email confirmation,
So no need to worry you will be credited the promo without any failure
Is that helpful for you?

This would normally be a no-brainer impulse-buy for me at this price, but I just can’t seem to pull the trigger.

i just looked and didnt see the gift card listed anywhere throughout the page. im thinking they got rid of the gift card part.

I’m going to give y’all a different spin on this.

The nostalgia is cool. I think the box console controllers etc are done very nicely.

It’s also pretty easy to hack and use a usb stick with it. I’d say for essentially $50 it’s about worth it.

Not true. It’s under the add to cart button on mobile.

“Holiday offer:
Get the PlayStation Classic Console and receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card.”
I see it now on mobile too. I don't see it in the Amazon shopping app though.

This is certainly Sony's biggest failure and waste of opportunity in a nutshell....or should I say in a "mini-shell"

It should sell for 49.99 plus a $15.00 gift card then it would be about right.

I’d MAYBE consider it if it was $25 with a $25 gift card on top.

I loved the playstation 1 back in the day. Jet moto, silent hill, metal gear, etc. For whatever reason this didn't and still doesn't interest me, even for $50. I'm with Romeo, MAYBE at 25 with a 25 gift card:)

With how quickly these are being discounted already these are bound to have huge discounts eventually.

$30 or under will be my buy price.

The PAL-version games they put on this thing are unplayable compared to the originals, and the emulation for the rest is also poor. Sorry, not cheap enough yet.

Amazon is such shit. I just spoke with a rep on this. They refuse to price match even within the return period. Basically need to reorder and return. I mean its not even 14 days and the return period is through 2/1/19. step it up amazon.

I've tried this in the past and they never budge. So ridiculous that they make you buy again and return, that's gotta be more expensive for them in the long run

Best Buy has really won me over for the convenience, rewards, and price matching.

I wonder if Amazon did a double match with Target and Best Buy/Gamestop and this is a mistake.

Either way, the PlayStation Classic was a giant failure. They were being reactive to the success of the NES and SNES Classics, saw dollar signs and threw this together without any love or care.

This will probably be down to $50 in no time.

Just to piggyback on this I just tried price adjusting Diablo 3 that's at $39.99 (still within return period). Amazon used to be great about price adjusting items within the return period.

IDK if this means I won't renew prime. But I may end up buying less, and more specifically less games day one. Especially with the neutering of the prime video games deals.

Edit: Also here's some PS Classic contribution to consider.

I haven't asked for a price adjustment in years but they have always given me a post purchase adjustment if I noticed a significant price drop

Made a few too many I guess
nah its cuz they are PAL versions which were sold here in the US...and so the frame rate isn't working that great on NTSC...since they cant update the device they are discounting it..they should just recall them update them and send them back out

yeah policy changed 2 years ago..and even then it was up to 7 days after delivery

I often criticize Nintendo for milking the nostalgia in their games but at least they release a solid product ignoring the price. And because they release a solid product, fans keep coming back... it's a solid business plan.

This thing, from every review I've seen, is just the worst type of cash grab. I don't think it's worth owning for any price. They're only hurting themselves long term, by releasing something as half-assed and lazy as this. I have a BC PS3 that I use to play PS1/PS2 games and I think it's upscaling/smooth features help significantly. I wish they'd put something like that in here- I can't imagine the technology is all that expensive these days and they already have it.

I thought so too.

It's apparently a new thing.

"If you purchased something on Amazon and the price drops within a week of buying it, you can request a refund on the difference! ... So many in fact, that Amazon had to change its policy regarding price changes from 30 days down to 7 days.Nov 26, 2018"

I read that they literally used pcsx as the emulator... If true, really all you're paying for is the encasing and 2 controllers (that don't even have joysticks).

Questioning whether it's even worth effectively $50 given the reviews.
From what I've read, not worth it. Even if you use a usb stick to play your own PS1 library, the emulation is poor. The emulation isn't even perfect for the games Sony chose to include.

Nvidia Shield TV is the way to go. Worth every penny.

The whole shell/controller is cool but the emulation is shoddy and the picks are mostly meh. Missing many classics. I'd probably play Tekken 3 the most... and that's at 50fps to!

Easy pass even at $30 at this point. Looks like It's sold out to.

They included too many shovelware games ... this would have been the equivalent of Nintendo releasing the NES mini with the current lineup you get for buying the Switch’s online pass. Sure, there are some good games, but there’s also a bunch of garbage on there (because the best nes games are still on the NES mini for now). It’s just not a compelling group of titles ... and it doesn’t help that PS1 games have aged terribly for the most part.
