NES Classic Edition (Refurbished) $49.99 & Super NES Classic Edition (Refurbished) $69.99 Nintendo E-Store

Keeps saying there is an issue with the order. Either is dead or their website is malfunctioning or overwhelmed.

Damn, they don’t accept PayPal. It would be nice if Nintendo online store accepted PayPal. Anyone found any workarounds? For example, virtual prepaid cards, any suggestions?

Had this issue when I tried to order this 2 days ago and so did a lot of people on SD when it was posted there. I think it might mean it's OoS but not sure because it still lets you add to cart.

I personally have a Paypal debit card where it uses my paypal balance but runs as a normal debit card. Useful for Amazon or other places that dont accept Paypal.

The NES Classic seems super dead. Too bad as I already have myself the SNES Classic but not this sexy sheila.

Thanks for the post, OP.  I didn't buy a classic system but it reminded me to check for the SNES switch controllers which are finally back in stock.

Must be out of stock, I got a "there was an issue processing your transaction" notice even after trying several cards. Clearly a site issue, not a card issue.

When one of you receives this will you let us know if it came with the original box?
It almost assuredly won't. There are plenty of unboxing videos of refurbished Nintendo products on YouTube. They all come in plain brown boxes. I don't think that should be a deal-breaker (at this point), especially given the premium you'll pay for one off eBay or anywhere else other than from Nintendo.

I would certainly love the original box, but I gave in and decided to snag one this way. I honestly don't need it - I've got nearly every game on here in cart form as well as an EverDrive - but it also brings a nice symmetry to my mini console collection, giving me NES/SNES/TG-16/Genesis/PSX. I will probably remove any NES games on the SNES Classic and devote the NES Classic to just NES.

Plus, you have to think this might be one of the last chances to grab one unless they decide to do another run. If I decide I don't want it anymore, I'm sure I could sell it. Doubtful that will happen, though - my collection is like a black hole that games and systems can never escape from.

Alrighty, finally got mine in, and it looks very nice. Only slight marks around the USB port, which I'd expect, and the controller looks like maybe it was used maybe once or twice, if that.

Also, boy is that controller cord short.

I'll put this through its paces before I hack it, though - want to make sure it all functions well and I don't end up having to return it before making any changes.

If only we could use eshop of gold points on a refurb...  don't wanna pay out of pocket!

Keep trying to purchase, but as soon as I try to put the order through the website crashes and says "unable to process or access request" or something like that. Not sure if any if them went through.

EDIT: Uh oh. I tried the first time not signed in because it was glitching hard, and the second time I tried it signed in it was fine. The second order is in my account history so I'm assuming the first one went through as well. Welp, guess I got 2 each coming in. Are they easy to return?

My guess is that since it hasn't shipped, you can get one of them refunded pretty easily. I'd just contact their customer service, or see if there's an option to cancel the order in your account. There might be an option under the "My Orders" area.

Thank you, I called earlier and seemingly got it sorted out, now it's just time to wait and see.

Also, did anyone who recently ordered these get an email confirmation? Never ordered from nintendo before but I still haven't received a confirmation email almost 12 hours after. It does say processing still in my order history however. I see that they say processing is delayed, so that might be the delay in getting an email

Yeah, the last time I used their site, there was a hiccup and I got a free N3DS out of it, but I can't remember if I got a confirmation right away or not. I have contacted them twice within the last month in regards to my son's JC, and each time I opened a ticket, it did send a "response", stating how "covid-19" is an issue, and they are getting to stuff ASAP. So long as you can see your order online, you should be good, as "N" is pretty good about fixing issues after the fact(just not that great before hand).

EDIT: I can also confirm that these aren't "refurbished" in the typical sense, as every refurbed item I've gotten was in "new" condition and worked perfect each time. Yeah, a refurbished item from Gamestop, yeah, I would avoid that like the plague, but "N" is top shelf, unless they've changed practices in recent times.

Yea their customer service seems pretty great. When I called I got connected with a person in LESS THAN 2 MINUTES. At least from what I've experienced, from companies as big as nintendo, that's unheard of. Super quick and although the guy himself couldn't help, he called back and gave an update. Good to hear they are reliable.

I've still got a magnet on my fridge for their service department I got back in the mid to late 80's(it looks it's age), and even back then they had really good CS.

Remember when you could call a number to get tips and tricks for games back in the eighties?
I used to write letters to Nintendo Power with like 50 questions and they would always write me back a novel with every question answered sometimes with pictures. I'd then condense that information onto an index card and use it for each time I'd play thru Link's Awakening or Final Fantasy.

I think I still have super power up stamps on my desk at my mommy's house. Yep.

I wrote them one time and they replied with a detailed answer. The question was How do you get into the casino in Super Mario RPG LoTSS.Boy was I happy to quickly use that info to get into the casino.

Welp, looks like the situation didn't get sorted out, as I got two shipping emails. I guess I could be stuck with something worse, but I guess I'll have to make a call to get a return label. Do I just not open one of them? I see lots of people get their switches fixed with no problems so I'm hoping returns are the same, and I hope it's not as tough as getting an eshop refund.

I'd definitely give them a call if you haven't already.

As for mine, of course it didn't survive a day without putting hakchi on there. Too many great games I wanted to put on there. There's also tons of space for them, given how small NES games are.

Why stop at the NES games?

As someone who isn't that tech savvy and has absolutely no knowledge or experience in modding a system, is it an easy thing to do overall? I've already looked it up how to do it via hakchi but it still looks pretty complicated. Maybe I'm just over thinking it.

Itd be an expensive investment keeping two of each system around especially when I know I didn't really even need one of each in the first place, but I might just see if I can mod each one and keep a non-modded spare.

Yep, I sure do, as that's the phone number on my magnet as it was for all things "N" at the time, and is still their phone number today.

Normally modding a system requires good amount of know how(consoles, handhelds, etc.), but the NES mini was pretty much a full proof system, at least at the time I did my sons. The program you use pretty much does all the heavy lifting, and takes the guess work out of pretty much everything.

There are many good YT videos, and they all should start with a back-up of the systems kernal, and once that's done, it really doesn't matter what happens, as you can just return it to the factory install and then try again. It's really a very basic device with a even more basic install program, I just wish all modding situations could be this easy.

EDIT: The hardest part for me at the time, was deciding what games to add, and finding the proper box art for certain obscure titles.

There are Hakchi tutorials with pictures and YouTube videos if you search Google for them. Trust me on this.

It's super simple. I just randomly got my SNES back out after a couple of years and updated to the newest hakchi easily.

Also have a USB adapter coming in this week to plug in a flash drive.
