3DO Coming to Dreamcast

The same people who made the 3do emulator for the pc is i think almost finsh with the dreamcast version and its suppose to run at a good frame rate. So stack up on 3do games which i did and get ready. I bought alot of 3do games couple days ago for 5 - 10 bucks, so i am ready. The first game i wanna play is nfs , and killing time is second.

More information can be found over at their site. :)

Who are these people you speak of stupid? You could at least mention them, even though nobody cares about this news.

And "i think almost finish"? Why not let us know when it is?

The people who made Freedo on the pc, is bringing out a real version of 3do to the dreamcast.
Here is some information:

DC as you know has 2 cpus, SH4 and ARM7 (inside AICA), also it has PVRII graphics engine., now let's check functions of every chip while running FreeDO :
1. AICA (ARM7) deals with 3DO DSP emulation, using precompiled set of instruments, used in 3DO. means -- every time 3do DSP is loaded with some program, Freedo converts the DSP program into AICA program by merging together readily precompiled programs from library. Also AICA deals with decompression of compressed ziso

2. SH4 deals with 4 parts --
a) dynarec ARM60 emulation. 3do cpu runs at 12 MIPS ---- SH4 runs at 200 MIPS, dynarec efficiency -- 2:1,means in average 2 SH4 commands to 1 3do command.
b) converting CEL+Projector+VDLP programs into series of PVRII commands, converting textures if necessary
c) porting of 3DO FIFOs into SH4 SQ sequences
d)handling periferals
3. PVRII -- requires whole book about ways of implementing other console emulation on it. This chip architecture allows nearly straight forward convertion of CEL+VDLP programs. It's volume modifiers allows to perform all functions of Pixel Processor from 3do.

Go over to the main forums at freedo and check it out.
You talking about the 3do blaster or a homebrew emlator?
Man, the 3DO blaster is hilarious. I remember sort of wanting to get one, but this was before CD-Roms became a dominant computer peripheral. Of course, I've always been attracted to the more exotic gaming systems.

Hmmm, wonder if it would save game files to? :whistle2:k

The 3DO is just terrible in saving games. The memory on it sucked. I'll have to look into it.

Stop playing. The music was the best thing about the game, not to mention the weapons and the levels layout. I cant wait to play it again on the dreamcast. :)
Killing time sucks. Yes I do own it, I was decieved by the awesome cover art.
Is that the game with the Clown?
being able to play Yu Yu Hakusho on DC would be sick.
You post on the atari forums right , someone else said the same thing.

Btw my name over there is Untouchable2K. :D

that was probably someone else

I'll have to look into this. I've always wanted to play "Heart of the Alien," the sequel to one of my old Amiga favorites "Out Of This World." As far as I know it was only released on 3DO and Sega CD.

i remember the hoard.. but still loved my SNES at the time and couldn't figure out what all the hub bub was about (i was a wee lad too.. maybe 11-13)

I think I was about 14 when the 3D0 was out... the only time I remember seeing it was at this place "Incredible Universe," a huge but short-lived electronics store. When the place first opened they had a great area for games, with display units for the 3D0 and the frigging Jaguar, and a couch where you could sit down and play PS1. Only 3D0 game I actually remember playing was a port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, so I never really got a proper display of the system's capabilities.
i have a copy of fifa for 3do. I found it at EB last year and it was only a buck, so I said what the hell.
Very good soccer title. One of the few definite games to have for the 3DO.

I remember playing Gex on the 3D0 at Incredible Universe. The store was only around for a little over a year before closing.

I wouldn't mind playing BladeForce. There is a used game shop near me that used to have some 3D0 games. I haven't been there in a long time though.

Dont forget Starcontrol 2, but then again they eventually made it available for PC when the company released it.

If youre interested, best game ever in my opinion. Although the PC version isnt quite as good as the original 3DO version due to there being no video cutscenes, only fan made cutscenes exist in the game now for the PC.
Long ago.

MillerTime2523 the 3D0 came out in 1993.

BTW, is it pronounced three-dee-oh or three-doo?
3-d-o

Why was he banned? I know he was irritating as shit, but he never really did anything wrong.

I tried it a while ago, probably back when I posted in this thread. I could never get it to work, and I was just trying to emulator the legit games that I owned, reading them directly out of my cd drive.

That's all I want to do. I have a legit copy of Blade Force. I'd like to get a 3DO one day too.
