What's your favorite/the greatest TV theme song?

coltyhuxx

CAGiversary!
I got to thinking about this because I was at this party and this guy had MacGyver on the DVD player. These guys were full on MacGyver fans, as in "no talking, we're Gyvin' it up". I have to admit, though I did watch it back in the day, I'm not the hugest fan of the show but a damn good theme song.

You can stream that here :

My runner up is much lesser known, but radical theme song by Tangerine Dream for the shortlived spit-tastical taking motorcycle serial, Streethawk.

PERFECT STRANGERS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vbnLYROCj8

Sometimes the world looks perfect,
Nothing to rearrange.
Sometimes you get a feeling
Like you need some kind of change.
No matter what the odds are this time,
Nothing's going to stand in my way.
This flame in my heart,
And a long lost friend
Gives every dark street a light at the end.

Standing tall, on the wings of my dream.
Rise and fall, on the wings of my dream.

The rain and thunder
The wind and haze
I'm bound for better days.
It's my life and my dream,
Nothing's going to stop me now.

Haha - i thought the same thing when i saw the topic. They need to put this out on DVD pronto.

The theme for the old cartoon MASK was awesome.

Masked Crusaders, working overtime,
Fighting Crime, fighting crime!
Secret raiders who will neutralise,
as soon as they arrive, at the site
Trakker's gonna lead the mission,
And Spectrum's got such super vision!
M-M-M.A.S.K.!!
Is the mighty power that can save the day!
M-M-M-M.A.S.K.!!
No one knows what lies behind the masked charades!
M-M-M-M.A.S.K.!!
Always riding on Venom's trail!
Come see the laser rays!
Fire away!

The Single Greatest Theme Song of all time:

THE JEFFERSONS

I'm moving on up'
To the de-lux apartment
in the skyyy!

I completely forgot about Perfect Strangers, watching that theme was quite nostalgic. Anyway, my favorite theme song would probably be Night Court. It was so damn catchy.

I immediately thought the same thing too. The only other theme song that comes close is MST3k.

And there's supposedly a Perfect Strangers dvd coming out this June but it's only gonna have a few "best of" episodes.

NO WAY too funny.. this is too random not to mention... last month I was on this kick telling my friend Ron that he reminds me of Larry Appleton (applegate... whatever his lameass name was). He, understandably, was getting pretty pissed (he does not look or resemble anything at all like the actor) but for some reason, perhaps my fervor, he felt I was being serious)... and i mean, come on, when teasing friends shows signs of them getting pissed off, why stop?

So, I sent him an email with a renamed attachement that said something along the lines of "dude you HAVE to see this!" and it was the video intro to that show. He told me he wanted to punch a wall after I sent that to him.

Totally with you on number eight. I have all those eps and watch them from time to time.

I'm going to add one more, Season one Charles in Charge. This is when, believe it or don't, the show was actually kind of funny.. Although I can't argue with the addition of Nic Eggert but the original cast was best. There was an episode where the nerdy kid was playing a Vectrex.. lots of video game references.

And come on it's catchy too.
Anyway, my favorite theme song would probably be Night Court. It was so damn catchy.
Every time I heard that (along with SNL) it made me want to visit NY. I miss Nightcourt.

EDIT: Cheers. Simply Cheers.

I forgot I have quite a few theme on my PC. I should have checked them out before I posted my list.

Some more good ones I forgot (but remembered thanks to my mp3's)....

Animaniacs
Barney Miller
Boondocks
Inspector Gadget
Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
Peanuts
Pink Panther
Reading Rainbow :D
The Addams Family
The People's Court ... you can dance to that shit!!!!!!
Oh yeah. That is a totally rocking theme song.

Quoted fo' truth.

okay, if it was on the Disney Afternoon, more than likely the theme song was great. Except for Bonkers. The most horrible Disney cartoon.

OMG I need to buy the entire wonder years seasons right now. They are not released offically but i see that alot of off brand sites have the set.

Where is good TRUST WORTHY site that i can get dvds from that are not out yet?

I need that show......badly.
First of all, it's Joe Cocker.

Secondly, that song was produced almost 30 years before Wonder Years was ever aired.

Easily one of the best cover songs ever though.
You know i kept thinking it was joe. Anyway yeah, i know that its a cover song but the orignal wasnt the theme song to any show i know and what we are talking about now is theme songs.
Cheers.
I was always partial to that one.

and

I may be showing my age here, but I used tp RUN home from school for:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=89_dSkhEsgE&search=battle%20of%20the%20planets

G-Force !!!!
No way man! Battle of the Planets was freaking awesome. I was a little young for it but talk about a styled out posse. That chick was smokin'. Some great animation... we just got re-into this show a few months ago.

Ok, I'm gonna add another one here:

The Prisoner! Couldn't find it quickly and I'm at work, but look it up.. worth it.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME show.. great intro.. What else you guys got?
Saved by the Bell anyone? Has that been used? That song was the shit!
I have a running joke with this chick - we watched like 12 episodes in a row a few weeks back and I am incapable (or unwanting?) to remember the lyrics correctly... even after 12 exposures in a row.

"when i wake up in the morning, and the alarm is blah blah warning and MY DOG ATE ALL MY HOMEWORK ON TIME"

everytime she wails "that's not how it goes!" but everytime that part comes on i sing the dog part loudly so it drowns out the actual lyrics. i tried to convince her that there is a shot in the later seasons where a comical dog (definitely, with sunglasses on) has homework in his mouth as zack mugs at the clock then breaks the fourth wall and shrugs to the audience.

man, i need to stop smoking this s**t.

Dukes of Hazzard is the correct answer

Page 3 and I'm the first to mention it? What the fuck is wrong with you people?

#-o How could we forget that one?! Or The Fall Guy, for that matter.

Oh yeah, Fall Guy is pretty damn good too.

As I was reading the thread Jeffersons, Saved by the Bell, and Wonder Years (but should that one really count) also struck me as great ones.

Honorable Mention to Different Strokes, Facts of Life, and Small Wonder :)

I also always liked Angel's theme. No vocals so it's not catchy, but I thought the moody violin really suited a vampire show.
