It's amazing to me when wrestling fans who were legitimately exposed only to WWE look back fondly on WCW being shitty. (It's because they're being brainwashed by the highly talented, highly unethical PR titans of a billion dollar publicly traded corporation - and we live in a world where people are compelled to defend their favorite publicly traded corporation to the very last sling and arrow.)
I totally agree with you. While WCW was far from perfect they did have many memorable matches over the years (and great talent as well). The problem however is when a rival company like the WWE can now easily get away with their revisionist telling of what happened due to the fact that their core audience won't question the revisionism. Those same people who will defend the WWE to their own very last breath probably wouldn't take the time to actually watch WCW, watch interviews/shoots of people who worked in WCW, or even read books on WCW (ie: The Death Of WCW which I hear is getting an extended version soon).

This TNA title match is kinda mediocre. I don't think AJ and Bully really mesh that well together in the ring.

LOL at Bully barely being able to roll his big ass over into that crucifix pin.

I'll be at Hell in a Cell on Sunday. I think this is going to be how I cap off my year of being back into wrestling. With it seeming that all the people I like aren't being pushed, nor will they be, I think it's time to move on. It's been a fun year, and hell, maybe HIAC will suck me back in. But lately, I have only been watching NXT. I don't even know the full HIAC card to be honest.

Anyway, I'll try to bring a report from in the stands of how the crowd was, etc.

Has anyone seen an pre-order deals on WWE 2K14? I know about the Ultimate Warrior bonus but have been surprised that there hasn't been any gift-card or similar deals going around.

Color me impressed. I always thought this was the work of makeup artists or with elaborate stencils.

I wonder if any other guys did their own facepaint.
I kinda assumed someone else did it too since the quality of his facepaint has gotten so much better now from where it once was earlier in his career. He's doing a hell of a job with his make-up.

Only one I've seen is Best Buy with a free Rock bluray/dvd but that's only if you pick it up during the midnight release.

WWE 2K14 is garbage. Gameplay is awful. They 2K13 and sped up the strikes but the animations are slow and lethargic. It creates this horrible dynamic that makes it hard to get into the game.

Your opinion goes against everything I've read from people who already have the game, as well as what I've seen from watching live streams of people playing it. By all accounts, it's much better than last year's game.

The best part of the game is the presentation and nostalgic send-up for the 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode. If that's all you're getting the game for, it's worth your money. That plus the ability to play as Savage.

They've stacked the game with content on top of content. However, the gameplay is mostly the same as last years. The key difference is that strikes execute at a hyper fast arcade speed. Every other animation executes realistically. This creates this weird mash-up of timing and styles that doesn't work at all.

The bugs are insane too. I just had a Steel Cage match with Punk and Sheamus and managers for both guys. Halfway through the match, the managers slid into the ring through the cage and just stood around.

Character models are about as bad as last year. Maybe worse. It feels like rather than create actual models, the Yukes guy went into their CAW to create the wrestlers since they'd look close enough and they'd save a ton of cash.

I'm not saying you will agree with me. I don't really care. It's your $60. Most feedback I've read on forums like GAF is that Yukes needs to be fired before they start to consider another WWE game.

Anyone watching the PPV tonight? I know someone else said it before but the Rhodes brothers mashed up entrance is complete garbage.

Watching. The match itself was good. Fandango had turned out to be one of the worst things in the company. Yes. He dances. Incorporate that into the matches. Not into fucking segments.

Nah. Not a chance anything would happen when Shawn's standing sideways in front of someone. Not one bit.
That's what I'm saying. They at least could've had him out of the frame or something. I couldn't tell from the bad angle, but it looked like the kick didn't even connect that well.

Good lord that finish was awful...Orton put the chairs WAY too far away, Triple H botched the flying knee and Michaels didn't even hit SCM cleanly.  I would be fine with Bryan losing clean and it makes more sense at this point because Bryan v. HHH needs to happen and Orton has more feud opportunities.  But shit that was a really bad way of doing it- 3 lousy PPV endings in a row has killed a lot of Bryan momentum

Daniel Bryan got Christian'd.

I know a Bryan/HHH program is next. Wonder who Orton feuds with. Probably CM Punk.

The worst thing about the PPV was that the opening match was probably the best thing about it.

Will never happen.
If we keyfabe it, Hunter only put his hands on Bryan during the match to be sure Shawn was okay. So Bryan technically struck first. Shawn saw this and struck Bryan in return. This is going to play out two ways. Either with Bryan/HHH at Mania or Bryan/HBK.

Bryan/HBK would arguably be the bigger match. It's been four years since HBK worked a match and Bryan has been the top face for months now. With Wrestlemania 30 around the corner, HBK would get a huge payday to keep from working another four years and Bryan would get the ultimate rub.

There's no other reason they'd bring out HBK on a transitional B-Show PPV unless they were working towards something bigger. This has got to be leading towards a teacher vs. student match at Wrestlemania 30. Why else would they showing promos of Bryan doing doing HBK moves as he was breaking into the industry?

No. Just. No.

HBK giving Bryan a botched superkick is considered "rub" in WWE-land. He doesn't need any more "rub" from/a match with HBK to prove that he's a legitimate threat now.

I do agree with one point though -- Bryan will get a match with Triple H.

HBK doesn't really need the pay day, and he seems pretty content on the outside looking in (aside from the occasional appearance/referee duty).

I'd bet the house on HBK not wrestling Bryan at WM. Add it to your signature if you want, and save it for Wrestlemania 30.

I could see Bryan/HHH at Survivor Series in some form. Either as a traditional Survivor Series match (Bryan/Rhodes/Goldust/Big E? vs. HHH/The Shield -- wishful thinking?) or straight up singles.

Punk finally exits the pocket universe to feud with Orton...Team Bryan (Bryan,Rhodes,Goldust,Big Show or Big E) vs. Triple H and The Shield.

Curious to see if they continue Big E/Ambrose or hold off until Axel is healed up and go back to that.  I could see them giving Big E the US title as early as tonight and then giving him a new feud leading into SS.  Maybe have him vs. Ryback as his first defense?  Ambrose is involved in bigger things right now and doesn't need a belt so much.

Del Rio caught a glimpse of how this looked on the titantron.

Well, that was certainly a waste of a cash in.

Going to commercial break mid-cash in was a huge sign for me to change the channel.
