F.A.Q's

What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

What is AmazonSmile?

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?

On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Here is an example of a like new handheld (PS Vita) - Thanks Slixshot

It can be anywhere from game only in beat up but playable shape to complete and pristine.  Grading for acceptable is all over the board because any bit of missing packaging can knock and otherwise LN item down to A if the grader feels like it.  I've received multiple brand new things from AWD over the last year that were graded at A and an equal number of complete messes.

Thanks. I just saw this post in response to my question from earlier. Hopefully the stuff I ordered as Good and A come out as LN or new/sealed as some others have been receiving. Shoot, getting a box with some of what i orderd would be a huge plus by itself.

Yeah it's always a crap shoot with A but I've rarely gotten anything too bad in that condition and plenty of pleasant surprises. Like a couple of the games from the recent glitchstock were A but came in good shape and complete except the manual.

yeah same here never owned a ps1 or any sega systems.  Now that I have disposable income from finally getting a job in may I've been getting ps1 games to play on my ps2/3.  I plan on playing ff7 the next time I have a day off after it won the what should I play next polls I do.  Hopefully it isn't overrated like xenogears was.  Then again I did like chrono cross which is loved and hated.

I'd like to pick up sega systems at some point down the road too but I probably wouldn't be interested in as many games and most of the good ones I imagine were ported

Ironically enough, I was one of those nimrods who ignored Dreamcast, but bought a ps2 at launch (was one of the lucky few to find it early), however like most every console, it had a horrible draught once the launch games got old after a month for a better part of the first year.

Of course after ps2 launched to monster numbers, and Dreamcast became an ever bigger also-ran was when Sega officially threw in the towel and killed the Dreamcast - they stopped production of consoles, and dropped the price to $99 on the console (though there were still games coming out for a few months).

Lacking anything to play on ps2, I snapped that machine up, and honestly it was one of the best years of gaming.  I picked up virtually every worthwhile game in that library for under $10-20.  Skies of Arcadia, both Sonics, Grandia 2, RE Code Veronica, Phantasy Star Online, Crazy  Taxi, Soul Calibur, Samba di amigo with maraca controllers, Shenmue, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Power stone, NFL 2k, not to mention the first real console online multiplayer, II could go on and on.  The machine kept me occupied with some of the best gaming ever, on the cheap, and by the time it died down for me, PS2 finally got fully into the swing of things.

It really was a shame, the Dreamcast- Sega was truly creatively on fire with some of the most innovative and entertaining games they've ever made for that, plus the machine was way ahead of its time in terms of graphics and such.  Yes, ps2 was ultimately more powerful, but Dreamcast was downright godly next to PSX graphics for the year or two it was out before PS2 showed up.

I got a Dreamcast for Christmas after they announced they were discontinuing them and they dropped to $50.

anyone have any experience cancelling orders from a 3rd party? how long did it take? i submitted the request an hour ago and it's still at preparing shipment

If you did it right after you bought it, well at least within 30 minutes, there is no way they are preparing to ship it. I call BS

It's great for fantasy baseball communication. Also, they own Engadget now, I think.
AOL acquired sites like Engadget and Joystiq in 2005. People always seem surprised that AOL is still around, but they actually still have a couple million paying dial-up subscribers.

Yeah AOL is a new media company more than anything now and run a bunch of major sites in a Gawker style network. Think they do some speculative tech investing and stuff too but it's the media stuff paying the bills these days.

This story sadens me as Wii U sounds like the Dreamcast at this point.
I got a Dreamcast for Christmas after they announced they were discontinuing them and they dropped to $50.
Oh God, don't tell me...I paid too much for my Wii U?!?!?!??????

I still enjoy my Dreamcast and I still have that Ecco the Dolphin game in my backlog....and Skies of Arcadia, whenever I can find a copy for a reasonable price.

Good to hear it turned out. Most 3rd party sellers are OK but you do have some bad apples. BTW is this just a normal merchant listing or was it Amazon fulfilled?

You may assume that, but its not true. Most of their profits come from dial-up service. They have been trying to transition to media and advertising, but that hasn't even been profitable for them until recently.
Can't believe that dial-up is still around...then again, some businesses still use 56k fax modems for systems I'm sure. Before we moved to VDSL, we suffered 28K.

normal merchant.

I ordered it but now it's saying i'm broke. Apparently i have to wait until tomorrow morning because it's a voided transaction. Well at least it's still on "update payment method" so nobody else can get it.

amazon said they approved and sent the refund or something, so i'm expecting it to be in my account tomorrow morning like my bank said.

Just got my 2 Third Party Gamecube controllers from AWD. I normally don't buy many 3rd party controllers but for $1.60 couldn't pass up a couple GC controllers with Smash coming and the Wii U adapter. They look like they were opened but never used. Still wrapped in plastic. A quick first impression and they appear to be pretty decent feeling. Much better than I expected. They look just like the First Party but without the logo's. If nothing else I got a couple new C sticks and other replacement parts to replace in my original GC controllers :)

The ridiculous deals were all from the AWD price glitch that happened for a couple hours overnight over a week ago.  You won't likely see any deals of that caliber again for awhile.

Funnily enough, I just finished eating at a local pizza parlor that had generic controllers like that (exact same look as the original ones, but without the logos on the front or back). They didn't seem to be quite as responsive and the z button sucked, but they weren't nearly as bad as I thought they'd be for third party ones. Its worth would really depend on what game you were playing, I suppose.

...but hey, it was $1.50. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat, probably just to gut it and replace my old, worn out thumbsticks.

someone donated me 20 bucks to get the better model, i noticed it went to preparing to ship, requested cancellation. they just replied about 2 minutes ago and i promptly snatched up the 3ds i wanted.

took about 2 hours to cancel, which is a long time
A long time for what? The seller probably has a job and isn't checking their seller account every 10 minutes. You were hardly being reasonable.

And he mentioned leaving negative feedback. To everyone out there: please leave negative if it's truly necessary. Negative hurts a seller a good amount. His reasoning would have been very unfair
