Maybe try placing an order with debit/credit and if it goes through cancel it immediately then try again with the gc.
I just tried that (successfully placed an order with credit then immediately canceled it), but I still get the error message when I try to redeem a gift card.

If you have a PS4 or xbone imo I'd get GTA5 or AC5, both should be pretty quick play throughs and can trade in afterwards for $40. Sunset Overdrive if you have xbox one. Far Cry 4 is another option although I wouldn't be surprised if the game is delayed.

If you have a PS3 I'd get South Park this weekend as part of BBY's deal of the day, its $20 ($16 gcu) and well worth that price, and again a fairly quick 15-20 hour playthrough and tradein next week for much of that back.

Call of Duty is another good option if you like those kinda games. I never understood people who said they will wait for black friday sales, I'd rather play a new game now, trade it in, and if I really loved it (AC4, Destiny, TLOU) I'll buy the digital version if/when it goes on sale.
PS4 for me. Yeah GTA V is my fall back, I traded in my PS3 copy expecting to get the PS4 copy but I've already beat it so not a priority to get it again right away but will definitely get it for the collection, probably my favorite game of the last generation. I'm 100% done with getting AC at launch, still haven't touched my AC Black Flag, used to love the series too played every console game up to Black Flag. Same thing applies to COD.

Right now Far Cry 4 is the one that's sticking out to me though I've honestly never finished a single Far Cry game, so not sure if this new one is one I can get into. Actually the South Park deal does seem like a good fit, or maybe even the Beyond deal today.

then you should get far cry 3 first, and play it first.and see if you like it. since far cry 4 follows the same formula as 3

I have far cry 3, it's okay, but the respawning enemies and animals are kind of a pest still, even after clearing out the outposts. I really want to like Far Cry, I beat half of 2 but it just kind of got tedious after a while.

then you should probably pass, and wait till far cry 4 gets really cheap.

My guess, The gc is fubar.
I sent a PM to the forum mod who helped me with a ghost order issue involving the same GC that I'm trying to use here; maybe he messed up and deactivated the card by mistake? We'll see, I guess.

BTW, if the gift card was invalid, wouldn't I get a different error message?

OK, I can place orders again. The forum rep who helped me before accidentally froze the original GC after creating a new gift card for the missing balance from the ghost order. He apologized for the trouble, unfroze the gift card, and I can now place orders again.

Maybe I'll preorder Shadow of Mordor to celebrate. :D/

If you have discover card, you have 90 day price protection. Takes an assload longer to get your money back if there is a price drop, but it's totally worth it. My discover card I great, I wish more retailers would accept it.
How does this work with GCU? Let's say I purchase GTA V and with GCU it comes to $47.99. If the price drops at another store within the 90 days to say $49.99, do I get $10 back because the original price at BB would have been $59.99 before GCU? And how has the process of doing it through Discover been? Is it a pain or fairly easy?

Let me preface my response by saying that I'm not sure if using Discover follows an entirely different process than the following, as my experience is strictly from paying with Best Buy gift cards.

First of all, you could only get money back if the price drops at Best Buy, as they only match themselves for post-purchase PMs.

Secondly, you would have to factor in GCU for the before-PM and after-PM prices. So following your example, you would be getting $8+tax back because you would be paying $39.99+tax at the lower price compared to the $47.99+tax you paid at launch. I and several other CAGs got back $16+tax from PMing Wolfenstein at $39.99 when Best Buy had it on sale within 45 days.

I hope that at least gives you some idea of how post-purchase PMs work at Best Buy now.

South Park is not the Deal of the Day. It's a part of the 2 day sale (Friday-Saturday). It's also not $20 ($16 GCU)...it is on sale for $24.99. GCU brings it down to $19.99

ah gotcha

for anyone who pre-ordered Hyrule Warriors, have you gotten the Best Buy DLC code yet?  Its supposed to be on the receipt if you preordered in store, or will be emailed if you preordered online.  I preordered last night online and picked it up today, was gonna play tonight and trade it in tomorrow to Gamestop if I didn't like it, but it will suck if the BB dlc code takes a day or two to email out :(

Best Buy reps on their forum say to wait until monday to get the codes, but just curious if anyone has gotten it yet.

Like MoCiWe said, I got my code emailed to me about 10 minutes after I picked up my copy. My preorder was through .com too.

If you preordered it last night, double check to make sure it was automatically added to your cart. After a certain point, it no longer does that. The cutoff time for preorders goes by their local HQ time (CST) and not your local time FYI. As long as it's in your order cart, you'll eventually get it.

This isn't true. I got my copy of Destiny post purchase price matched to Brandsmart. They called 2 different stores because it was out of stock at the first one.

hmm Tempted to get SOM but I haven't watch any of the lord of the rings movies (yea I know please don't bash me lol) so I'm really not invested in the story, but I love assassin's creed and it seems very similar and I'm pretty surprised at the great reviews. I'm just a little confused that ign says the main story missions are unexciting but that must mean the world and side quests are pretty engaging.

I wouldn't worry about the story of the Lord of the Rings. Basically, there's a baddie. He's evil. And then there are the goodies. They're good. You want to kill the baddies. The end.

So just read that Beyond is, maybe, getting a PS4 port and South Park is full of bugs...back to the drawing board...

Why did they get rid of the old RWZ site? The new one sucks, you cant even see your pending purchases.

Edit:

Found out how to veiw pending purcahses, but I still prefer the old site.

i dunno about console versions but i finished pc version of SP a few months ago with 0 problems, no bugs at all and it was an awesome game. easily in my top 5 of 2014 so far

So I picked up my FIFA 14 preorder and had a mover's coupon I wanted to use, they had to cancel the preorder and do a new transaction. Will I still get the $10 RZ?
