King of Fighters 98 has cards now
They gave Eiji Kisaragi and Wolfgang Krauser cards? What a waste of a perfectly good pair of spots. Why not Athena Asamiya? Why not Orochi? Rugal? Goenitz? Eh, at least my main man Ryo got a card. Hope the backgrounds don't suck.

It's sad that despite the fact that they are both supposed to be terrible games, and I will probably never play them, I am still bummed that I can't buy them anymore.
They're still available at Amazon... for now.

I will not buy one thing from this steam sale. I used to fakeybro my games from Putinland and now i cant, eff u steam!
y u no Nuuvem?

Picked it up, been waiting for this to finally hit 75% off on steam, it's been 50% on multiple sales previously. It's [AC IV] due for a price drop for the MSRP, but it's one that I will probably play sooner rather than later.
No it's not. Look at how AC III's MSRP hasn't dropped in over a year. And well, AC IV is hit, and AC III is a flop.

I can see where you want to say that from a rational standpoint, but the facts don't support it.

You frequent (freques) CAGs need to get in line for a spanky whipping because the thread is not moving as fast as it use to during a Steam sale. I can actually keep up and where is all the hidden deal talk. From a seasonal CAG standpoint this sale is mooby disappointing because of this thread.
Think about it from our standpoint... we usually have to have our discussions in the [Members Only] thread because all the seasonal rabble floods the thread with the same seasonal* questions/comments making it impossible to have the serious bidness discussions that the raison d'etre of the steam thread.

This year's so bad that we haven't gotten the flood of seasonal rabble yet. Or most importantly the question:

When does the Steam Winter Sale start?

*euphemism

Might and Magic X Legacy - Digital Deluxe Edition is 80% off for $5.99 at Mac Game Store. It comes with a Steam key that will give you access to both the Mac and Windows versions. The Deluxe edition includes the DLC and M&M VI also.

This is the lowest it has gone to date by a little bit AFAIK. The previous low I believe was 75% off / $7.49. It's also the only way to get Might & Magic VI on Steam at present.

Firmly in the 'I don't want it but it's cheap and tempting me anyway' category, Battlefield 4 (Origin only, duh) is $5 on Gamestop.
Has a blast w/ the SP during Free Game Time; and really liked the MP - c'mon, it's Battlefield.

BF's MP has always rocked.

I might buy it just for the MP.

Looking at a purchase. Do you have a referral key?

I wonder what it's like to play a multiplayer game with MysterD. I bet he distracts you with redundant DRM talk and wins every competitive game.

Out of all the games I have ever bought BF4 has far and above gotten me the most value for the money. I think of the 50$ total I paid for bf4+premium its given me (according to the stats page) 480hours of play time (and thats just up to now, Im sure that will spike over the holidays plus with the new expansion coming out TBD). If you have friends that play it and can hop on and play at the same time and talk with them and stratergeryize (something most fps cant really offer) together it makes it so much better. It does make a difference, you can see in matches when everyone on your teams and squads were working together how much of an ass whooping the other team gets

Plus the SP, though short, is nice for a couple of days to play through. Thats generally all I play the COD games for since I dont like dealing with the younguns and their shit talking. BF4 generally seems to draw an older crowd then COD

Anyone know if the gold version/season pass is worth the extra $5?
I would say no if you already own Assassins Creed Freedom Cry as the rest of the malarkey is mostly cosmetic crap. If you dont own the standalone version of that, than yes as its worth $5 on its own. Its basically a whole other game and comes with the season pass and I assume the gold as well. It was DLC before it was standalone so its likely accesible via the main game. I skipped the season pass and got Freedom Cry standalone on a price error a few months ago. It was some cents via the Indonesian store I believe and was trading very cheaply for a while.

Gold apparently has the Aveline DLC in it, I'm told, while standard + SP does not.

It's supposed to be really short though.
Amazon matched AC4 BF for Uplay version + Steam version.

Though, they only matched UPlay version for Season Pass - WTH?

They should match BOTH UPlay version and Steam version, since they sell both versions.

It's 9:35pm EST - Amazon has now matched AC4 Season Pass for both UPlay version and Steam versions.

They didn't match Gold Ed for Steam or UPlay versions, though.

Bleh.

I got some Bing $ - so, I might just buy from AC4 BF + Season Pass for UPlay from Amazon.

Is any of the extra Gold Ed DLC worth a damn that ain't there if you just buy separately AC4 + Season Pass?

MysterD talks about DRM, WWE Wrestling, wishing every AAA game is 75% off days after launch.

That about sums up what he's programmed to discuss.

Edit: I'm selling him short. He also talks about listening to and buying music someone in their mid 30's has no business listening to.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is 75% off, standard and gold.
That's a good price. This is the first thing that's moved the meter for me ever so slightly in the early going of Steam's Winter (dreary discount) sale. However, just like MnemnocH I already have the base game in uplay. Argh.

I hope Amazon will price match. I have the base game in uplay.
If Amazon matches I think I might consider double-dipping since I got ACIV for free from an Nvidia coupon. Is that somewhat crazy just for the Season Pass addition and to have on Steam? Perhaps. Although, it's not like uplay will sell the season pass for $4.99 anytime soon (currently $9.99).

It looks like Amazon has matched the standard version ($9.99) but hasn't price match the Gold Edition as of yet.

The problem is the more time that passes, the more we fill in the gaps of what games we still want, and there are less and less games left to buy. I bought everything I wanted within the first 2-3 Steam sales a few years ago and now it's mostly slim pickings ever since.
How I generally feel about it, as the years have gone on the sales have gotten weaker to me, but that's often because I own most of the stuff, with a small amount of games I'm interested in (and I've gotten some decent deals on them, just tend to forget that).

Trying to look at it not from a "I own it all" perspective, it still seems pretty meh so far at best. Can't, off hand, think of any great deals even if you owned few to no games on Steam. It's early though, so have to wait to see what happens. Oh and agree with other(s) that the lack of a game or gimmick for the sale, besides the auction before it, doesn't help much.

The Winter card market being near worthless makes it easier to not buy on Steam too, I'll admit in the past I'd sometimes wait for a deal on Steam so I could get more cards to sell, where other retailers I got nothing. Now? Sure I still get a few cents but who cares. Hell I'll admit a couple times I spent a couple bucks extra near the end of the sale just to get a winter/summer card to sell for a bit of Steam bucks.

Anyways, to continue going away from my original point, from a long time Steam user point this sale has started off pretty terrible. No games, the card market is awful because Valve couldn't put the effort in to give some trinkets away for crafting, and the excitement of new deals is squashed from 12 hour "flash" sales and 1 community vote a day. Hell even urgency to buy has been removed with 12 hours deals really being 24 hour deals. At least with the 8 hour flash deals, there was urgency created of only having those 8 hours to decide if you wait or buy. Now? Pfft, I was semi-worried on Door Kickers but it being 24 hours, I'm pretty much waiting til later tonight to possibly buy it because I don't have to rush into making a decision.

For a new perspective (well as much as I can try to look at it from, very hard to do), it doesn't seem like much great in the way of deals so far, State of Decay probably being the best. Again no game, so probably confused why everyone finds the Steam Sales so awesome (the combination of the lack of both). Imagine they get on once or twice a day at most to see what's new and otherwise barely bother (why would anyone?).

D's taste in music is so bad it makes me forget that he is a famous roller skater.

Awww yeah! Salvation Army store, here I come! I will pick up a bundle of them sweet, sweet jackets and will pass them on to deserving CAGs for cheap. Please let me know if you have a color preference, and whether you like the early 80's look or the mid 80's look. I accept PayPal, TF2 keys, Amazon gift cards, Steam trading cards, and leftover bundle keys.

They're not quite gone yet. Both Amazon and Direct2Drive have those Activision licensed games available for purchase, so there might be one last sale on those sites.

Amazon even has Ice Age 4 at 80% off, though I'm not quite sure if it's a Steam key EDIT: The page does say it's the Steam version.

I seem to have a handful of game keys with notes attached to them saying that they may not work.  I also have a few that definitely do work and I just want to get rid of them.  Let me know if keys are dead or you take them and I'll edit them out.

So during the Summer Sale I didn't get any cards for voting since I wasn't a level 8, and I still don't. I didn't think anything of it during the Summer Sale since I was fairly new to Steam, but I just now realized I haven't raised my level at all really. I buy and play games often enough I would it would have raised at least a level or two by now. What am I missing here? (and should I really care?) I was hoping I'd be able to sell some of the cards this sale.

I checked on the Steam forums but I found nothing relating the Steam level, or what the purpose is.

Also, everyone should vote for RAGE during the next community vote because I haven't played it yet and will only buy it at $5 or less. :p

Steam level is about 1% owning a lot of games, 3% having an old account, 6% participating in sales, and 90% crafting badges. Games give 1 exp, every year on your account gives 50, sales give anywhere from 50 to 200, and badges give 100 per badge.

For every ten levels, you get slightly better odds of getting a booster pack drop and the ability to add another showcase to your steam profile. You can also have a slightly longer friends list with a higher level.

Ok, spent the last couple days with a friend at the hospital :( so I don't have time to read through everything I've missed.  I just bought Banner Saga from Nuveem.  First time ever dealing with them.  Translation page says "Not yet generated key, there may be a delay in production".

Anyone ever see that before?  I am asking because I'd like to buy another copy for a friend and don't know if I should....

Edit: Also.. can I buy a game I have already bought from Nuveem? - store page doesn't have option any more lol.

If RAGE goes 75% off - also make sure you get Scorchers DLC if that's 75% off, as well.

EDIT:

Scorchers is more than just a new DLC section/area with its own questline - in which that new questline should take 3-5 hours to finish.

Scorchers also allows gamers to continue in the game-world, no matter what. If you've finished the main quest for the base-game or the DLC content - doesn't matter, you can continue on in the game-world.

Own only the base-game - finish the main quest, game's over.

Plus, w/ Scorchers DLC: you can also re-visit old areas (such as the areas before the second major hub), as well.

If you only own the base-game, once you hit the 2nd hub (The Subway City) - you can't revisit any of the areas that were before the first hub.

Picked up Skyrim: Legendary Edition from Green Man Gaming for $10.61, after the sale price and the 22%-off coupon codes they're e-mailing out.  Lowest price I've seen for it so far.

wait.. are u trying to tell me that AC: Black Flag Gold contain AC Freedom Cry while the AC4+Season Pass doesn't?

i thought Season pass include EVERYTHING?!??! what else is included in Gold and not in Season Pass? :wall:

I dont know what the Gold contains exactly. Id advise you to look it up. I assume that it does include it. I know that the Gold version of Unity contains the season pass material (before they d/c'd it) so I imagine its similar for Black Flag. The one thing the Gold has that the Season Pass doesn't provide is the Aveline DLC but I dont know exactly how comprehensive the Gold version of Black Flag is.

Yea for some reason I was dumb enough to pass on it at $5 on the Summer Sale, been wanting to play it since. I'm guessing though that it will hit $5 at some point anyways though.

It probably will this sale, if not from Steam directly than another retailer. Even if it loses community choice it could still come up as a daily or flash too.
