[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Sort of excited for those 3DS offerings. I had Mario Land for GB a long time ago and would like to play it again.

I'd buy all of then except Zelda (already own).
Yeah they're really solid. I'm getting Zelda and Mario Land since I have the other two already. Too bad there's no DDP any longer since the Wii U games are meh.

Guess I'll register all this shit I had sitting around.

I want retail Wii U download games. Seriously please have some of those in next month to spend these coins on.
I really wouldn't expect that at all, my money is on a dump of previous CN games. Maybe we will get lucky and get the retail games from last year's platinum as well. Now if we don't get some new retail Wii U/3DS games for the platinum that will be disappointing.

So I wonder if the new 3ds will have a club Nintendo code in the box........?

I would highly doubt it, they don't do things like this spur of the moment.

I have not seen this addressed yet, but has anyone read/seen anything about post play surveys? My "earn coins" tab is gone on club nintendo, but I don't know if that is because I was already caught up on my surveys.

I was thinking about that and that would be awesome. Part of me thinks there's no way they'd do that, but then there was that Mario kart 8 promo that got you a fairly recent game for free, so I'm wondering if Nintendo would be awesome enough to end their program with a bang, although that sets us up for disappointment to dream so big. :whistle2:

I'd love if they put up that Luigi statue again.

How much is it for platinum? I got a Shit ton of games I need to register still. (probably 20 between 3ds and wiiu)

Oh yea I don't expect it but I like to dream big so I can be terribly disappointed when the day comes. Always funner that way.

I was entering my codes and this popped up. Hope they are adding more rewards.... (unlikely though)

Sorry!

Club Nintendo is currently unavailable due to site maintenance.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

Remember to hang on to your product registration codes and make a note of your serial numbers - we'll be back soon so you can register your products.

Please note, it is not necessary to register your hardware to begin your warranty. This is done automatically at the retailer when you purchase your product. However, please check back to register your products for Club Nintendo benefits, including hardware warranty extensions.

Forum users please note, the Tech Support Forums will be in read-only mode during this time. All existing Forum topics, posts, and replies will remain available for those looking for technical assistance with Nintendo products. No new threads or messages can be created until Club Nintendo is back up.

Please try back later.

Until then visit us at

Would have to include a CN code to do so which it shouldn't. I'm hoping that the hundreds of dollars of games that are launching while CN is shutting down will be part of whatever the new program is when it rolls out though.
No, you get the extended warranty for registering the serial number I believe. The CN code was only for coins and promos.

This is great news. The new rewards this month only go to underscore just how much I dislike the CN program. Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me if the new program was just as bad, but I honestly don't think it could be much worse. Hopefully Nintendo realizes they have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to good game promos and sales, but I think their recent Amiibo success is only going to make them even crazier, because somehow they can get away with it.

You actually use the serial number instead to register it on Club Nintendo.

thanks. I Have to check...may be able to get a couple platinum rewards this year. :)
You only get one. Doesn't cost any coins but you have to register that many coins to be eligible to receive your choice.

My mistake then. It would still have to be on the list of systems that got it though. The Wii U for example didn't get an extension. Can't remember if the 2DS did or not but that might not have either.

yep, so we should at least get extended warranties for N3DS systems...wooohooo! lolz though they probably wont include it.

I'm just looking forward to all the people that will be selling their digital rewards. It's a great time to pick up games at a good discount.

Yeah Wii U, Wii mini, and Nintendo 2DS do not receive warranty extensions. I expect N3DS to follow that.

Why does America's Test Kitchen still give 20 coins and Bowser's Inside Story gives 0?

I mean I have four sealed copies of ATK still so I guess that's fine.

So what exactly does everyone think this new reward system will be?

I'll take a few off your hands. ;)

Well, glad I received a Wii U and pile of games just in time to get one last Platinum. Managed to get the Smash CD, Mewtwo, and the Metroid shirt. Plus whatever our options are for Platinum rewards. Not a bad final haul. I'm a bit worried that Club Nintendo going away kills our back up in case something happens to our hardware, but hopefully the new program will fill that gap, or maybe an account system is finally coming.

A new Disc Traders recently opened in my area. Picked up Link's Crossbow Training and Wii Fit for $1 each. Link still gives 30 coins and Wii Fit gives 100! coins. Might try to hit up a few more dirt cheap games or even just grab codes because fuck it, they'll be worthless in 2 months anyways. I'm at 160 again now, hopefully I'll round up enough to grab Super Metroid so I can upgrade to the Wii U version.

Also, just re-bought a few NES games on Wii U. Do they have post play surveys at least?

Okay so there will be a new rewards program but all the codes from games and systems will not work with it?? I waited on not using my 3ds system code just for the reason there would be a free game in the future??

Damn! now i have to register all my unused codes. Really hope the rewards theyl be pisting are worthwhile. Will be monitoring this thread more closely til they shutdown

So here's a question I haven't seen anything about but did they mention anything about coins and eShop stuff?  I'm guessing/hoping that will still give coins for as long as codes do.

I have a bit over 1500 points now and have at least another 300 or so in unredeemed codes. Worst case is I'll buy some duplicate digital titles. I have a feeling that the upcoming rewards will consist of A LOT of digital games (perhaps a lot of past ones that were already once available). I had a chance to get the 3DS game-card case this morning, but I still have one I never used (and another close to full), so didn't want to spend those points in case there may have been a high-ticket item.

Looks like I'll be asking friends and family for their unused Club Nintendo codes.  I really hope the rewards for Plat this year doesn't disappoint (or at least have a game that I would want to play.)
