The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games. There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

I was hoping the scroll would of been of a different pose or the black heart cover. Also it looks tiny :[

For the last copy, yes.

Which is what I got, btw. I really don't give a shit, though. I'm not a collector. It came with the manual (which is like 50 pages--crazy nowadays) and I'll be able to resell it for full value when I'm done. That's really my biggest concern when buying physical games.

Not always just the last copy. When they used to do sales, there'd be several gutted copies, if not all.

How tiny is that wallscroll? It'd have to be like a piece of paper to fit in that kind of box.

Yeah, I'm going to skip out on the Noire LE and probably wait awhile to snag the vanilla version. Atelier Shallie is the only other LE I have pre-ordered since I'll get HN2:LE tomorrow. 

I hate to admit it, but I think I'll have to hold off on LEs for sometime. They're just hitting my band account and sitting on my shelf too much nowadays.

Usually it's the last copy but there have been times when they still open it. I had Tales of Hearts preordered and was 1/3 that preordered. Instead of picking up on Tuesday I picked it up on a Wednesday. They tried to sell me an open copy and I was like "how is that even possible since I preordered? They were like well we needed to put one on the shelf." How is that logical at all? If you only got three copies and they are all preorders how can you display one to sell?

Luckily there was one sealed copy behind the store associate but I was about to leave and cancel my order. It's dumb crap like that that pisses me off with GameStop sometimes.

Ah, I saw ar no surge at gamestop and was about to post. Shoulda known vigilante would be on top of it. Would've gotten deception if they had it. Still don't know if we'll get the plus version. Maybe amazon will pm.

I'm working the closing shift that night, so if there are still copies left after I get back, I will probably pick it up.

If not, I'll just get the vanilla version/

 
Why would gamestop push the PS4 version of DW8 back to full price?  Especially with Empires due out next month, who's gonna pay that now?

 
Gonna grab Ragnarok Odyssey for PS3 and DW8 for Vita since my store has em both used. Not sure on some of the others though

Just a heads up. 

The Grisia Trilogy Kickstarter is going to end in 3 Days. 

I picked the $1 Tier just in case Sony gives the approval for the Vita Version. 

Sony told Sekai to resubmit it to them on the 30th, so, there will be more waiting.

People are speculating that they did about 3,000 of the LE for the US based on what's left in the store and the order numbers people got. Considering it still hasn't sold out and there were close to 1,000 left as of last week, they probably are too late to adjust quantities down for this one, but I suspect the next LE release from them will have a slightly reduced production number.

you gotta be kidding me, gamestop has it at this price, and i went through all the troubles of having my payment decline trying to order project diva f 2nd from amazon. LOL

 
Was gonna get Ace for PS3 but the store had 1 copy with the bonuses for Vita. Got that and DW8 for now.

Might grab Deception and Mugen Souls from a different store tomorrow unless there are naysayers here.
 
In the first image on IF's store for the LE you can see where it looks like they covered up Noire's cleavage if you compare the art book to the box art? Interesting decision. It doesn't seem like it would've impacted the rating, really? Maybe it would've pushed it from T to M?

who knows. I doubt it would impact the rating. I'm not 100% sure if the box art is taken into consideration for the ESRB rating. US companies do that a lot though. The recent Criminal Girls is a good example.

That's interesting. I wonder how many they've sold.

I'm glad they made so many though so I was able to get one.

Before I pick up Deception tomorrow, what are the chances we'll get the enhanced version localized? Might as well ask about the likelihood of Ar no Surge enhanced vita port getting a release here too. I know all the Atelier Plus games come over, but is that the case for all Gust games?

I like that they bothered to cover that one but the moe girl with the pink hair in the back is still fully visible.

Not really sure of any ports really. The only for sure ones are Atelier games and DW games. I think the expanded Deception game is probably a no. Seems like too niche of a game ...but who knows. I would think Koei would concentrate more on possibly getting a different game out (maybe Ciel no Surge Offline) than doing a port. It's always hard to tell with ports....

I think the chances are high, but not sure if it would be physical. *Looks @ Toukiden*

 
So question:

If I was going to sell most of my NIS titles (not the collector's editions, but the Limited Edition with the art book / CD et al) so that I can buy the enhanced Vita versions (We're talking the most recent Atelier titles and the Hyperdimension ones) -- what is the best way to do so? 

Amazon?  eBay?  Here?

 
If you do it on ebay you have to pay both ebay and paypal fees. Try your luch in the trade section

what's up with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 on steam. It had a release date of today earlier but when I went to buy it just now it says it won't be available till the 30th

Awesome, the Wall scroll for the Noire LE looks really sexy- er cutesy.

One of my favorite characters in videogames, glad that Noire's game is finally getting released in the US, I can imagine the first line in the game being "I-It's not l-like I'm h-happy or anything having my own game..."

I'll probably get it just because of Noire, but with Neptunia U coming soon and the LEs for all these games so close together, I can't help but feel like they should've pushed the releases farther apart.

 
Hoping someone in here can clarify something for me real quick. I know there is an Asian physical release of Soul Sacrifice Delta that has English text and subtitles. What I'm not sure about is if that is some special version, or if that's just how the Asian release of the game is. The info I'm finding online isn't clear, and I want to be sure before I drop $50 on it.

I have said version and it is the same delta version as far as I can tell, which is to say it has about 1.5-2x more content than the vanilla. It has English voice and subtitles. I scored it for $40 from play Asia when I bit on Sword art online Asia as well. Both highly recommended!
