If no more stores put up pre orders, missed all of target except the doctor, seems like many will be heading to stores. More than previous waves maybe, I have not had to go to stores usually but wave 5 has changed that. It looks like based on early rumors and numbers that toys r us will be the store to go to.

Whats other peoples game plan?

I'm thinking Gamestop may be a decent place to get the non-exclusives considering their stock numbers aren't nearly as bad as the last wave, and everyone else will be going to Target and TRU. Not to mention there are a shitload of stores in this country. Even my small town has one. I'm hoping I can get Bowser Jr either later that day or online.

My plans for the morning are to try target/walmart first see if i can get modern and classic mario for me and zero suit samus for the wife. Then head to besbuy to see if i can get the same with the gamers discount. If so then return the walmart/target purchase from earlier. I know i could just go to bestbuy but id like to play safe.

Thankfully i imported the store exclusives.

Not sure if they are delivering amiibo to the US or not (sometimes GAME is finicky) but Mewtwo preorders are live there now!

http://www.game.co.uk/en/m/mewtwo-amiibo-super-smash-bros-collection-557562?pageSize=40&errorViewName=mProductDisplayErrorView&searchTerm=Mewtwo&top_category=
They've cancelled every preorder I've made from them for amiibo, including Shovel Knight.

Edit: if you go to the full site it does say the item is not available for international shipping.

People don't seem to understand the concept of games. Every mode, powerup, character, skin, feature, ect. is an extra. It's all extras. No part of any game (or any entertainment for that matter) is mandatory.

Based on your logic you can argue the fire flower and mushroom in SMB should've been DLC because the game is technically playable without it. It's the same damn thing here. Yes, I can make a level without the giant mushroom, but why would I ever want to go without one of my favorite power-ups "because it's not needed"? Nothing in this game is "needed". CoD only needs 1 map to be playable, so why not charge for the other 19 right?

I wouldn't mind paying for the mega mushroom if the game itself were free and you just bought the power-ups you wanted to use in your creations. But that's not the case is it? No, for $60 I am owed everything on the disc. I still can't believe people argue against this.

I miss the days when people actually gave a damn about their rights as consumers. Guess it's just a sad by-product of today's beta bucks society :whistle2:(
I agree, if the content is on the disc already & adds a game function then it should be unlockable (no matter how difficult) within the game without spending another penny. Maybe having the amiibo make it faster and easier to unlock would be ok but if it's on the disc it needs to be unlockable without buying a figure or paying to unlock it. Now unlocking stuff like suits in MK8 I'm ok with because they don't add anything other than cosmetics to the game. Having said all this it is nintendos choice at the end of the day & if consumers bite then good for them I suppose. I'll have to buy the classic mario amiibo because this is a function I want in this must have title so they got me by the balls. I've really wanted the pacman suit in MK8 too but have refrained from buying the pacman amiibo thus far but will probably cave eventually so I guess it's a smart money making move by nintendo.

Hm, that makes me think of another argument. Consoles historically come with one controller. Many games have a 2 player mode. The game/console doesn't come with a second controller, you have to buy a second one. Therefore, there is definitely "locked content" on the disc that you can't access without buying another accessory, abiding by the 'definitions' of arguments being thrown around here.

And to address the inevitable next argument against this practice, Amiibos are usable in other games just as a second controller is, as well as serving as a display piece ('accessory'). Yeah arguably not as useful as an actual controller but, seems like a lot of bellyaching over a business doing what businesses do; make. money.

Yeah, I agree as well. Having content already on a disc, only to milk a few more bucks for extra content, just seems criminal to me. At the end of the day, they are here to make a dollar, but "N" has gotten really cheap in these last few years, and they don't wear that title good at all.

When they took the AC Adapter out of the N3DS here in the states, I knew they had reached rock bottom, and would begin to behave just like all the other companies they try to condemn every chance they get. You can get a 3rd party AC on ebay for 5 bucks, so I know "N" isn't paying more than maybe a dollar per unit, and they can't include it free? That's just bad, I can't think of one handheld electronic device that doesn't come with some way to charge it out of the box? Is this really where "N" want's to lead the industry? Being "cheap" basterds?

WOW, how the once mighty have fallen. That's why I'm more than happy to buy that Amiibo emulation device, once it gets released, and then the can go fuck themselves. If this is the direction EVERYONE in the industry is headed(milking fans for every last dime), I think I'm ready to retire from gaming(ASAP).

I feel like most people that buy amiibo dont really care about what it does in game.

People bitched that amiibo were useless and did nothing in game.

Now people bitch that amiibo do too much in game.

No making people happy. In the end I guess it would have been better to never have made amiibo.

So how stupid hard will it be to get the old school Mario next week?
Who knows? If they make them in the standard "Mario" Qty's, there should be enough for everyone, as I've never not seen the standard Mario in stock at any location. Every place has Mario at all times. LOL

But knowing "N", they may do small runs and say they didn't think so many consumers would want old school Mario, or some BS along those lines. This is actually the first Amiibo I saw that I really wanted to get. Luckily, I happened to be on CAG when Target's listings went up, so I was able to get one. But by the time I went back to get a second one for my son, they where sold out. I'm hoping I can grab one elsewhere, but I'm not real hopeful at this point.

Yep. Having a difference of opinion clearly means you are just a fan boy.
How many people here have just accused me of blindly hating Nintendo because of some hidden agenda? Or just saying shit just to waste time?

That's y'all's logic, don't get pissy when somebody turns it around on ya.

This is a massive stretch and gigantic leap in logic and you know it. So why even post it?

Aside from SSB Amiibo's offer no real functionality from what I've seen. A controller is an input device.

They don't include power adapters with their handhelds in Europe and Japan and haven't for a long time.

And who cares about where the content is that is unlocked by the Amiibos. On disc or on their servers, it doesn't affect you the customer at all except to perhaps to make it more convenient if it is on the disc and you choose to buy an Amiibo to unlock it.

You realize that most of those complaints about "Amiibo doing nothing" were in regards to their functionality right? People want trainable partners or at least a customization character or something like that; not an unlockable that's already on disc. What kind of idiot would want Nintendo to lock content that would've otherwise been available to everyone?

I haven't played every amiibo-based game but so far SSB is the only one that's gotten it even halfway right. THAT was what people meant when they said they wanted more games that supported amiibo.

Who thinks they would have made all of this Amiibo content in the first place if it wasn't for Amiibos?

Who worries about whether the content they aren't going to access is on their disc or on their servers? Same difference.

The DLC would also likely cost more if there had to be an additional cost for distribution, either via discs to be sold or bandwidth for downloads, so including the DLC as lockable on the disc actually keeps the costs down also.

Obviously they would've made the filters and mega mushroom with or without amiibo.

If you are talking about something done after the fact like the Mario Kart skins; I've yet to see anybody complain about those. I certainly haven't; I'm pissed about the mega mushroom in SMM and extra puzzles in the new Picross game. Stuff like that.

There's tons of reasons to debate the disc vs servers thing. It isn't even remotely the same.

You'll live a longer, happier life as soon as you learn not to get so worked up over DLC.   A lot of the quality releases handle it well enough now by giving you full, complete games upon basic purchase.   You really don't need the supplements.  We get plenty of news on here and on review sites about which games don't deserve our hard earned $$$. We also have the option to not support the pre-orders practice.

But yeah, DLC aint going away.  Just learn to deal with it and don't support it, or don't support the games themselves that host it.  No reason to get bent outta shape over it.   We have more options and better games than ever before.

You obviously didn't grow up in Nintendo hayday when the NES action set came with 2 controllers, a zapper light gun, super mario bros & duck hunt to take advantage of all those control options, RF cable, AV cable, RF converter piece (for those old rabbit ear screw connectors tvs) Console manual, controller manual, zapper manual, Nintendo poster, Oh, and even the power adapter. Not even a penny had to be spent extra to play clay shooting game either which wasn't even advertised as in the package nintendo just was being nice by including it for free. I lived these days, I loved these days, therefore I understand the BS behind paid unlockables. If you did not live these days you are just ignorant about the whole topic & never will comprehend what I speak of. In the words of Clubber Lang "I pity the fool."

There is no reason to debate disc vs servers. Just because content is on servers doesn't mean they didn't make the content well before the game went gold. So don't get caught up in the fact it is on the disc.

Plenty of people complain about the Mario Kart skins. They complain they are a lame use of Amiibos. So you get people complaining they don't do enough. And you get people complaining they shouldn't hide content behind Amiibos.

If you think about it then it's a no win situation. Very fine line. And what customer that buys an Amiibo and, goes to place it on their Gamepad, wants to be told they now have to download something? That's lame too.

and you know a lot of content for Amiibos came about because they were thinking of what to create for the Amiibos. They weren't just saying we have this game done. What can we hold back for Amiibos.

Ha, sorry I didn't contain an encyclopedic knowledge on past Nintendo bundle contents, it was just a passing musing. No need to kick dirt in eyes xD Gotta be careful about touching some NES-talgic fanboy nerves around here. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that an attempt at intelligent conversation on an internet thread instantly turned into a flame war  And that light gun sucked anyways ;) <cue AVGN>

All this arguing
Quick, run before you get sucked in! xD

For what it's worth, while I agree with ps2 & rcerboss (shockingly..) as far as actual DLC goes I also liked your point. It's something I hadn't really considered until this moment, and I'm surprised more people don't talk about it because it's absolutely true. The entire multi-player experience/mode on games like goldeneye, perfect dark, rainbow six (the first one), battletoads double-dragon, Conker, and Donkey Kong Country was locked behind a $40 controller.
However...it's not exactly comparable to DLC (somewhat comparable to amiibo DLC but not entirely either). You make that $40 purchase and the pay wall disappears for many games. With DLC, it's a wall that never goes away no matter how many things you purchase. Like you said, Amiibo is similiar in that the $13 "investment" does work across multiple games (and as a figure), but you'll have to buy others to make specific pay walls disappear in games. So it's still different than a second controller, since there are far fewer times when you'll have to buy another type of controller after that second one.
I would still say DLC is far worse a practice. I still prefer amiibo DLC to just plain DLC though, since it's less costly and something I can actually enjoy having away from the game it works in.

What gets me the most, is not the industry changing, but "N" constantly saying how they are so different than Sony & MS, or even Apple for that matter, and how they run their business so much differently. How they don't follow the crowd, and how they know so much more than everyone else, and how they know what's best for gaming as a whole.

I can't even keep track anymore of all the times "N" has been wrong on some "trend", where they go right and everyone else goes left, and they fail in the process. They won't give gamers region free, proper accounts, or even decent online with voice chat, or other online standard industry features. But then when it comes to raping fans pockets, they are the first in line to follow everyone else.

Amiibo's, on disc/cart "locked" DLC, Digital only games where EU gets physical versions, etc. Trying to compare an extra controller to DLC is an apples to oranges comparison at best. I could play any single player game to 100% with what came out of the box back then. Now while multiplayer was often an added experience due to extra controllers, or a multitap, It was a one time buy, and more often than not, friends would just bring there controllers by, and tap in to the N64.

Hell, "N" didn't even charge you extra for a multitap, they saved consumers money by building in 4 controller ports. Where did that "N" go? They would never do something like that again, not if they could make a buck in the process.

It all just seems petty to me, and a way to nickel and dime consumers. While I'm well aware that they don't include N3DS AC adapters in Japan or the EU markets, that has been ongoing for a long time. I know growing up and importing, everything released in Japan was at an extra cost. Cables where sold separately, AC supplies, and many different things. That is the market, and that is what is OK by their standards. When I imported, I paid the piper.

As stated above, "N" would give you everything and the "kitchen sink" within their products(at NoA), and it was a good quality to have. Now they are quick to just offer less, and demand more and that's not a good quality to have. Especially when you offer so little, along side your main competition within this industry.

Look at the N3DS standard model finally coming to the US. This is great, and a long time coming, but would it truly be that hard to offer consumers a stand alone unit? And not make them buy stuff they may or may not want? Do guys/gals honestly not see the poor treatment in all of this? Maybe I'm just asking to much from "N", I just expected more I guess, and I only have my self to blame thinking"N" was actually better than they are, My Bad!

You've already said multiple times how you don't buy their products anymore and you don't buy amiibos. So a better question would be why do you spend so much time discussing something you very clearly don't care about?

Also, controllers have been wireless since 2005 with the wii and that's why there's no need for a built in multitap anymore. Not to mention the Wii has Gamecube controller ports and the Wii and the Wii U are the only systems this generation or last to have backwards compatibility with the previous gen.

You've already said multiple times how you don't buy their products anymore and you don't buy amiibos. So a better question would be why do you spend so much time discussing something you very clearly don't care about?
Some people just bitch to bitch, what's new

Also, controllers have been wireless since 2005 with the wii and that's why there's no need for a built in multitap anymore. Not to mention the Wii has Gamecube controller ports and the Wii and the Wii U are the only systems this generation or last to have backwards compatibility with the previous gen.
Why do I comment here? Because I can.

I guess that GC multitap "N" released this past Christmas was a figment of my imagination uh? Yes, controllers have been wireless for two gens already, but "N" somehow figured out how to sale a multi-tap that no other console has a need for currently. Why is that?

Couldn't they have just made wireless "wavebird" style GC controllers that link to the Wii or Wii U wirelessly, and cut out the multi-tap all together? Stop defending their "nickel & dime" tactics, your making yourself look bad.

You can buy a gamecube controller that hooks into the Wii controller if you want wireless.

Most people prefer to pay games with wired controllers for less input lag.

Then don't buy a "Gamecube adapter." It's an "optional" accessory. No one "needs" one. "Problem" solved.

I know exactly why users like wired VS. wireless. I have no issues there, someone tried to point out the errors of my post by showing how multi-taps are no longer needed by users, and how "N" is not milking their fan base. Of course they are, you'll neither see that are you won't. But please don't defend them with an example as poor as the GC multi-tap, saying no one needs that technology. No one in modern gaming needs it, but "N" is long detached from being anything "modern".

Heres something you need to just accept. Every company is out to make money. Every 3rd party publisher, every game company is out there to make money.

Giving people options isn't a bad thing. No one is saying you need to buy everything Nintendo puts out but for some reason people like to act like Nintendo is forcing you to buy everything.
