Here is the current state of my collection

Did you buy or DIY those shelves? I need something similar to store plastic bins in my basement.

Didn't you just move into a house and have to wait forever to get your basement finished?
Last basement project did take about 2 yrs, but that finished 2.5 yrs ago. New house this summer.

Bought em from Home Depot like 5 yrs ago. Want to say they were clearanced at $60-70. They have something similar now but 2x-3x more.

Yeah, that's what I've been seeing too. I've thought about building my own out of 2x4's. It would probably cost about $60 in materials, but I would have to take the time to actually build it.

I think they sell some at Costco, I bought 2 mega shelves to store some of my LEGO sets.

I have a SNES with Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Super Mario All Stars (with extra controller) and a N64 with Mario Kart 64, Mario Party 3 and Super Mario 64 (with extra controller) plus a original white Wii. How much should I be looking to get? I totaled up and looked at Game Stop and was getting about $250 with all the little accessories and other games (but might be lower with refurb fees)

This thread is for people to post pictures of their collection not to ask what trade values are.

What is it with these types of shelves with no backing/backboards? I seriously don't understand the logic here... any type of backing increases the structural integrity of the shelf and prevents shit from falling off the back.
Because some people may use them and not need them to have a back.

Like I have one as my tv stand. I have a cloth shelf in one for controllers and stuff, one is for my ps4, and one for my router.

The other i put the current games I am playing and a stuffed Sylveon.

I dont need the back ends and gives me easier access if i need to move stuff

Count me as #teamback. Saying just use a wall as a back doesn't always work, especially if you have baseboards in your house, because there is still a large gap between the shelf and the wall. Having a backing also cuts down on the amount of dust getting on your stuff.

Yeah, it's annoying... my baseboards have baseboards over them (brilliant decision by one of the previous owners:roll:) so every single thing at my place sticks out like 1/5 inches from the wall). Big enough where things easily feel behind the shelves but not big enough wherein you can easily reach them.

Use a wall as the back, or a room divider accessible on both sides.
This is actually a very neat idea.:whistle2:k

I got a couple free bookcases on FB, so I decided to trash the broken backing and replace it. I bought some wall paneling from a hardware store and made my own backing. A circular saw and a table work pretty well to cut it down, but some places will make one cut for you if you have the measurements. It will add a good amount of support, plus you can use finishing nails. I always save the materials when I buy bookcases/shelving, so I have them on hand usually.

It is really nice, the only thing I may suggest is adding a mending plate/bracket to each corner to prevent sagging amd to better line up the shelves to make a joint in the corners.

Haven't figured out the configuration I will be going with yet, that's just after the install from guy doing basement. I might use one less shelf, or smaller gaps for 1 or 2(for controllers and whatnot). Once that's ironed out, i might do that. Not really worried about sagging in the corners, but maybe in the middle of the longer shelves. My old closet shelves didn't sag too much, and they were cheaper home depot ones - these are better quality and thicker, though longer.

Been looking at my old pictures from 2012, and all I can say is. Boy, CAG made me buy so much things.
I wish I could find some of my older collection posts... but CAG's search function is complete garbage.

EDIT, maybe it wasn't that hard. I posted one pretty early in this thread... post 50-something. Haha, funny seeing much more cluttered my collection has become.

I finally got the shelves. These shelves were on sale at Costco for $56 so I picked up 3 of them. They are friggin' heavy though, close to 100 pounds I think. I almost broke my back loading them into the back of my SUV.

God damn dude... I know we joke about you getting crushed under your collection but I think that it might actually happen at this rate.

So I have had a few additions and made some changes to my game related collection. The wife is still not nearly as impressed as I am but at least I am to the point she can no longer tell if I get new stuff or not.

My attempts at making more space for stuff has failed, as stuff seems to roll in quicker than when I make space for it. :*(

It's always nice to get to that sweet spot where you can just pretend all those seemingly new toys have always been there. ;D

I finally got all my shelves at my places... I actually wish I took better care of them b/c they're so much better than the junk shelves that are around these days.

Eventually, I get around to putting stuff on these shelves in some type of order.:whistle2:

Haven't posted my collection in a while, bought my own house now so I have a lot more space.  I sold most of games when I was still living with my parents so I am slowly rebuilding my collection.

Curse you and the sleekness of all the shelving Pooky!

I'm stuck with trying to cram stuff into whatever space I can find that will take a shelf atm.

Speaking of which, clearing up more space again soon for more nendos, so we'll see how that goes. ~_~

Yea, but it was 5x more than my last closet that I put together myself with Home depot shelves. I do think its 5x better though (and alot more space) so I think it was a good investment. Plus I don't plan on moving for another 20+ years so worth it.

Now I'm just waiting for a sick 75"ish 4K tv deal....

Jesus Christ...well I'll post my not as crazy setup. I recently added a 2nd desk. Got rid of my PowerMac Coffee Table.

All done!
God damn, that's nice. I can't imagine how much time setting all of that up took... I remember seeing your shelves and thinking that was it, you just have put stuff on those shelves but everything in that room is so well put together.

Looking at those pictures makes me realize I am almost 40 and I don't know how to live like an adult. lol
Ha... glad I'm not the only one that felt that way. Adulting is harder than I thought it was.

This. Currently living in SF and paying $2,350 a month for a 1 BR.... it isn't fun.
Holy Shit, I could retire if I had that much to pay for a 1 BR.

That's why I left Los Angeles 20 years ago, as the dumped where I lived(and my mother still does), is charging about 1600 currently for a 2 BR, 2 bath apartment in the ghetto. She's been there since they opened damn near, so her rent is only about half of that, but I know they are going to throw a party when she dies, so then they can charge probably $2000, when the time comes. LOL
