Great idea , but. When/where do the eshop cards go on sale....and 30% off sometimes wow

What about Arms vs Splatoon?which is better, Multi/online player matches
I've gotten a lot of very low cost cards thanks to watching the deals on this site.

I order most of the things from Amazon with no rush shipping, so long as they offer a $1 digital credit. Any order of more than one item gets split up into multiple orders for multiple $1 credits. This credit can buy digital eshop cards.

Best Buy recently had a promotion where any $10 or more in store pickup got a $10 store gift card. Maximum of 3/customer. This deal is dead now, but there will surely be others similar to it. I bought 3 eshop cards, my mom bought me 3, both of my sisters bought me 3 and my girlfriend bought me 3. All of those gift cards will be buying more eshop cards, making them all b1g1.

There were some gift card discounts between black friday and Christmas I believe b1g1 25% off. I think target does something similar a couple of times per year.

Do many people play the first Splatoon much? I was interested but am afraid it will be dead and also worry whether the servers will be shut down.
The last few times I tried playing it, it felt like only the most dedicated of hardcore players were left. As a more casual player, it was tough to find a good match. A newbie player would probably have a hard time learning the game with the likely stiff competition.

There is a single player mode, and it's actually surprisingly decent. It in itself may not be worth the price of admission, though.

Ok well thx for such great posts

To be clear I meant awitch Splatoon. 2

Are there any current or upcoming sales related to the higher discounts because my bday is in a month and I have GCU so I’m sure I can always go and pick it up for like $38-47 but if I can get it other ways or cheaper that’ll be cool too

Glad I asked, I really wanted Splatoon, and I bought the PDP afterglow headset, even tho I hear any headset is useable despite pdp saying its FOR the switch

Splatoon. 2 is a game more like. A FPS I think, and I wanted to know if it costs to play online ($20? As of now)?

Thx

It doesn't cost anything to play online as of now. However, when Nintendo launches its online service sometime this year, then you'll have to pay $20 per year.

I found it to be pretty fun on Vita, but there are a handful of places, especially near the end, in which i thought the difficulty spiked somewhat unfairly. The game doesn't really punish you or take away any progress when you die, but you are left to learn some of the more advanced combat conventions on your own (ie, certain enemies need to be attacked in a certain order etc), without much explanation from the game. Most of these multi-enemy fights at the end of the game happen at a very quick pace and have little margin for error, and there were a few battles i lost over and over, often in the space of the first 15-20 seconds, which i found frustrating. The game throws you into these battles and expects you to fight them flawlessly, even when it's not clear how you're supposed to do that.

Despite that flaw, i still thought it was a pretty good game, and i tend to avoid touch control games like the plague.
Oh man, that one in the clouds to get one of the momentos. That was awful. I failed it enough times that I looked it up to see if I was doing it wrong. Nope, just have to do it perfectly. Pretty fun and short game though.

Just watch the deals here and wario64 on twitter. Cag and wario64 are the only two I have set to push notifications.

For a while there was eshop codes sold on ebay $42.50 for a $50 code. Also the best buy pick up deal mentioned above, and also things like collecting coke caps for target or amazon gift cards. Gamestop trade in deals like the current one can be used to build up some eshop cards too.

I used to buy everything with no rush digital credits. But for the last year or so, I never got one of those offers ever since. I now only get Prime Now credits. I am curious, do the people that still get the digital credits have an option for Prime Now instead? Or does Prime Now service your areas? I am thinking that may be the reason?

Edit- Oh I also get "No Rush Home Service Reward"

From what I understand, you have to pick those, for the system to offer you the digital. So I guess it cycles thru the options, but if you never pick the ones you don't want, you won't get the ones you do. The last time I kept getting those, I finally picked it, and sure enough, I got the digital one again. I can't say if it's still working that way or not, but I would guess they are trying to keep guys from scamming the system getting 20 different items in separate orders for the digital credit. Or it could just be Amazon sucks now, which is probably more likely. LOL

This can't be the reason. When I had the option for digital credit, I would use it like once a week at most. So I wasn't really taking advantage of it. I also don't ever get different options for non-rush shipping. It is always one, and that option hasn't been digital credit for over a year.

Well, I'm in a town that has all the different Amazon choices, so that may be a factor as well.

Same here. Up until 6 months ago I lived in DC and now I live in a neighboring suburb. Even when I lived in DC, I stopped getting digital credit option. But I could get Prime Now, Prime Home Services, Amazon Fresh, etc. Anyhow, I guess trying to narrow down the reason why I no longer get it is pointless.

How so? I've played online without gyro with no issues.
He's probably referring to the level of accuracy that can be had with that option. There are always methods that are considered best, but there is for sure players who are exceptions to those rules as well. If you have a method that works best for you, roll with it.

I'd love to do this, but the No Rush offers I seem to get are always stuff like Restaurants, Health & Beauty, or other departments I don't care as much about.
Yea, it fucking sucks. Out of everything i ordered in the last ~3 months, only 2 things had no rush credit. Everything else was Prime Restaurant, Prime Now, Fresh, Services, etc. None of which I use because their carrier delivers to my apartment complex and leaves Fresh bags in the mail room. I see some left there for hours and hours.

I just mean when you get up to the upper ranks, all the higher level players use the gyro and have the advantage of faster aiming. It's definitely possible to use without it, just adds a bit of extra difficulty.

I always get $1 digital credit offers for orders/items under $10. Anything above $10 always gets me some other type of no-rush credit (usually beauty)

I have that, too. So I just ordered something with that beauty credit and then it reset to digital the next day.

With those announcements the Wii U is almost... OBSOLETE!!!
Not really, as all those games can be had rather cheap on the Wii U. So for people on a budget, parents with young kids, or those not willing to pay $60 for several year old titles, I would say it's far from obsolete. But I do get your point!

Yep, I’m too cheap. Recently got a Wii U to play BotW and like 10 other great Mario / Nintendo exclusives for less than the cost of a Switch alone.

Still haven't played Donkey Kong Country Tropic Freeze on my WiiU or Hyrule Warriors on my 3DS and WiiU, but I'll probably get to them and play them regardless then when I eventually buy a Switch, I'll eventually buy them again because my time isn't worth that much.

Overall I am happy with what this direct showed however does anyone else feel like Nintendo is just buying time to figure out their online component?

I thought that based on the launch, and the fact that the NS had ZERO online components outside of play and the bare bones shop. I would guess they are trying to come up with a long term solution, so that the issues since the Wii aren't a part of the future.

You know, consumers buying the same games over and over. LOL They do seem happy to keep charging people, so I'm sure whatever they come up with, will benefit them more, than benefiting the consumer. As "N" fans love to take it on the chin, "Thank you sir, may I have another". LOL

I'm pretty sure they want some of those lucrative PSN/Live funds, but it has to be done properly. And honestly, I still think they have no fuck ing clue when it comes to online. So E3 is probably the earliest we may hear some actual plans for their online service.

As someone who owns the Switch as their first Nintendo console since N64, I'm very happy to see many of the games I've wanted to play over the years get ported. DKC: Tropical Freeze and Hyrule Warriors will both be purchases for me. I'm eagerly anticipating some Fire Emblem games, but also know a new game is coming.

I get it, though. People who are long-time N supporters don't want to pay for the same game over and over.

I thought it was a great Direct.

Until 6 months ago I hadn't owned a Nintendo console since NES, so I'm glad to see "HD"/rerelease versions of games I missed.

Where the heck is Punchout? That's the one game I was excited to see announced and it's been radio silence on it ever since.
+1

Hell, I'd be happy with the Wii version brought to the 3DS at this point. Sadly, Punch-Out is another title lost to the ages at "N", same with F-Zero and some other great past titles.

Agree, I was just joking. Smash bros, Mario Maker and others still make the console worth it. I still have my wii u and don't plan to sell it.

As a Nintendo fan and Wii U owner, I'm disappointed that any exclusive games the Wii U had have now been ported over. That being said, I own the bulk of quality Wii U games and fortunately I don't need to buy any of those games again, especially at full freakin price! DK Tropical Freeze for $60!!! Ahahaha

On the business perspective, I completely understand why Nintendo is doing this. The Switch is pretty much the real portable Wii U and it makes sense to not spend money developing new games when all you have to do is port them over from the Wii U at a fraction of the cost.

The one game I might actually buy is TWEWY. Still debating it though. Any chance Final Fantasy VII remastered comes to the switch?

Mmmmm, that's a tall order. LOL

It's PS4 exclusive isn't it? I'm sure it will push the PS4 to it's limits, so I wouldn't count on it. If they ever offer a lesser mobile version for IOS/Android, the switch may have a shot. But to build it from the ground up for the NS, I can't see Square taking that kind of gamble. It would for sure be a system seller if done well, but I think "N" would have to step in and pay for it to happen currently.

A re-release of The World Ends With You sounds good, as that game was awesome.

If I thought there was some way to transfer data from the 3DS Hyrule Warriors to the Switch one, I'd be happier about that port.  I'm not doing the several hundred hours over for a third time, fuck that.  Just adding BotW costumes isn't enough, even to laugh at Ganondorf dressed as Urbosa (I realize it will probably be a costume for Impa).

With all the re-releases, I guess I'll continue to hold off on getting Tokyo Mirage Sessions, so hopefully they port it to a console I use.

I think Sony is funding it as well so I think that the odds of it being on Switch or Xbox are slim to none.

A Picross game is on sale. I repeat. A Picross game is on sale.

Now you cheapskates can go on never buying any of the games because one went on sale after years of nothing.

Didn’t you just buy like 15 WiiU games lately? You might win the prize for fastest backlog building. But I’m the same way when I get a new console. Buy more, play less is the true CAG way. Haha.
Yeah, I do tend to go a bit overboard when I get a new console. That said I did get all of them pretty cheap.

Well, I for one owned the Wii U (along with every Nintendo home console since the NES), and I'm all for Wii U ports. Hell, I'm still waiting/hoping on games like SSB4, Pikmin 3, and Mario Maker to be released on the Switch.

My only disappointment with Tropical Freeze for the Switch is I was hoping it would be a double pack with a HD remaster of DK Country Returns.
