    Ps3 or standalone blu-ray player?

If you plan on using any streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, I think the PS3 is the better choice.  I have a PS3 and a standalone player(Sony S590) and in my experience the PS3 apps are much nicer.  They load quicker, have more options and a better interface.

What have you heard? Their GPUs are fine, it's only their CPUs that have lagged behind. The drivers for the Radeons used to be pretty bad, but that hasn't been true for years. I guess it depends what sites you check. I've been going by benchmarks over at Anandtech where it seems like they...

I'd suggest swapping out the video card for a AMD 7950: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Mini-Displayport-PCI-Express-Graphic-GV-R795WF3-3GD/dp/B007581QHG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364944070&sr=8-1&keywords=amd+7950 It's comparable in price and performance to the GTX 660, but you also get download...

Amazing Spider-Man (July 3rd) - Out Now! May contain Spoilers (use spoiler tags)

Unfortunately not. That's the only thing that's held me back from getting the subscription too. Comixology is running on 99 cent sale on the first 70 issues of Ultimate Spider Man though if you want to get your Spider Man fix on your phone/tablet. Back on topic, I saw the movie yesterday and...

4thHorseman - Looking at the specs of that PC, it looks like your video card options are going to be extremely limited. The only expansion slots you have available are 2-PCI and 1 PCI-e x1 and most video cards out there now are going to need a PCI-e x16 slot. There are some PCI and PCI-e x1...

    5870 Dying, 6870 a Worse Replacement?

Whoa, I didn't realize the prices were that far apart yet. 6870 is definitely the way to go then.

    5870 Dying, 6870 a Worse Replacement?

Any reason you're not looking at the 6950? Unlike the 6970 it only uses 2-6pin PCI-e connectors and it should be a bit of an improvement over the 5870.

Take a look at the native resolution of 30" monitors sometime and you'll understand.

Overall it looks fine, the only thing I'd suggest changing is the SSD. Intel is good, but that drive is seriously overpriced. Take a look at a 256GB Crucial m4 instead. It should be very close to the Intel in performance, but costs $150 less.

If you want to use the integrated video, you're going to want either a H67(if you don't care about overclocking) or Z68 motherboard. P67 based motherboards don't allow you to use the i5's integrated gpu. 1. Not really a choice with the processor you're using. Sandy Bridge chips only support...

That does look better. This Antec would be a better PSU though. You do tend to get better quality when you buy separately. Most of the time the PSUs included with cases are cheap crap.

I'd recommend dropping the case or at least get a separate PSU from a better manufacturer for it. I've heard nothing but bad things about Apevia power supplies.

I think you'd be fine with the video card you picked out. You could use the onboard graphics, but you would be playing newer games on low graphics settings. Since the motherboard does have onboard graphics, you could just try it out and add a video card later if you aren't happy with the...

Those parts should work together, but I would seriously recommend looking at a different motherboard and processor. The ones you've chosen are a couple generations behind at this point. I don't know what your budget is, but this combo would perform significantly better than what you currently...

    Best SSD Under $300

None of those are particularly bad, it really depends what you are looking for. If you want the fastest, you'll want the Vertex 3. Intel is going to be the most reliable and is fairly close to the Vertex in performance. I don't know much about the Plextor, but I think it's closest to the...

Maybe after June 11th? I'd rather go with AMD if I can, so I've decided to wait until Bulldozer drops to decide which way to go. If it performs the same or better than Sandy Bridge(at a similar price), I'll go with AMD.

Would you eat a free meal in this case?

I'd take the free meal. Quit worrying so much about it. I tend to think people tend to prefer keeping their jobs to having the brief satisfaction of fucking around with your food. Besides, one complaint would hardly put you on the radar for the kind of retaliation you're imagining.

So I have an A+ certification...

Do you have any other certifications, experience, or education? A+ certification is a good start, but its not going to be easy finding even an entry level IT job with that alone. Of course I only have an associate's degree and an A+ certification and managed to get a good entry level job...
