2014 Yardsale thread

My Dream find, Neo Geo CD or MVS. I would love to get that or a handful of sealed PSX RPGS....
I think you mean AES, unless you're looking for an actual upright Neo Geo MVS cabinet - or one of those crazy consolized MVS things. I recently got an AES and it is one of the most confusing things to collect for. One of the games I got with my console was a NeoGeoFreak release - that's a deep rabbit hole if you ever have to dive down it.

"Hugh Barn Cleanout Sale"

NES games + a handful of PS2 games + 2 N64 Transfer packs +Pokemon Gold- $15.  Solitaire is the only uncommon I have found in a while.

Wii with bad disc drive, all connections, and 2 wiimotes-$10

Also met that woman with the "gameboy and 3 controllers".  Like I suspected, it was a gamecube with controllers and 3 nondescript games for $15.  Not a bad day but nothing major.

My dream video game find is a 3DO with Lucienne's quest.. or even just a 3DO. Always wanted one, not sure why I find it so appealing. I've found enough by now to know that if i keep looking, eventually it will show up.

I was so excited when I got Lucienne's Quest like 4 or so years ago with a big 3DO bundle. Then I never bothered taking it out of the box after I checked to make sure it was complete and minty.

Same thing with Snatcher and Keio Flying Squadron. At least I played Keio for 10 minutes. I've never even put Snatcher in anything.

I like to dream big so mine is a sealed copy of Stadium Events.

Also, looks like tomorrow will be a rainout for me. There is one garage sale advertising games 20 minutes from me but I am trying to get away from going out for one sale. But knowing my luck it will be all over the internet tomorrow that someone found a sealed Stadium Events at that very sale.

You are correct the AES. Although I did see a 4-1MVS on craigslist recently

I found a 3DO a couple years ago with about 15 games for $5 at a yard sale.  Recently sold it though to free up some space since I never played it.  I'd really like to find a cdi with the zelda games, or ROB, or a power glove that at least mostly works.  NES is really my main collection so that's what I mostly look for.

My season's just barely starting, I hit a few sales a couple weeks ago, but didn't find too much.  I picked up 8 boxed master system games for $1 each, nothing special really, but I was still pretty happy with it.  I only needed 6 of the games, but I did need the boxes for the other 2.

Picked up an N64 with 2 controllers and a couple games for $5.

Hero Quest for 25 cents.  Was missing a lot of pieces, but I already had a copy I picked up last year that was just missing the dice, and this one had all the dice.

TI-83 Plus with manual for $2.  I'm always happy to find cheap graphing calculators.  It's one of the few non gaming items I know is worth picking up.

no sales for me today.  Its college graduation weekend in my town, raining, and my fiance had a meltdown about her job this morning.  Hope you all get epic scores in my place!

Today was a meh day after how great last weekend was.

Sale advertising game was kind of a bust. There wasn't much there and what was there was overpriced. I probably should've just left the stuff behind, but I overpaid a bit on stuff.

$25

Action Replay for Gamecube (kind of the highlight since it looks to be worth like 30 or 40 without the disc)

N64 expansion pack with the cover over the n64

Tetrisphere

Unknown N64 game (gotta check it)

Unknown Gameboy game (also missing label)

Baseball Simulator 2020 for SNES

GTA Vice City and 3 for the the Xbox

DKC Returns for Wii

Wii Fit

Age of Mythology for PC

Empty case for animal crossing

Empty case for Super Princess Peach

Empty case for Nintendogs

2nd sale:

$4 for a new in the box "Web-Talking Spider-Man) - will probably use it as a gift

3rd sale:

$10

Asked about games and brought out small bag.

Had Dragon Warrior 3, Genghis Kahn, Batman Returns, Commando, Solstice, and like 4 other common NES Games

Goldeneye was also in there

Church Sale

$15

Complete starter set for Killer Bunnies form Outer Space

Sealed Simon2

Furby from the 90's

Sirius Radio Car Setup (I already pay for my mother's subscription from Christmas so I thought maybe I should get it for my car)

Free at the Church sale:

Bible on CD - looked on eBay and two have sold for 14 and 17 dollars. So that is where that will be going

One interesting note was the person I bought the NES games said her nephew is a big wig or partly runs Harmonix. She was trying to explain to me kind of what they were showing at PAX a few weeks ago. Sounded like if my mother or aunt was trying to explain something about gaming or computers that I told her.

Last week was great for Gamecube, this week.... even better! Got all the games in the pic plus about 10 more not shown for $60.

Also:

$1 N64 Game Drawer

$2 9 Plastic Clamshell cases for N64 games.

$6 Left 4 Dead 2 (360), NBA Jam (wii), & Black Ops (Wii)

****ing Fire Emblem... lucky

Picked this up for $2 on the way to work today. Kind of regret buying it considering it looks so worn...

Hit a big community yard sale. I got there late, there was some decent gaming stuff, especially some 360 stuff but my backlog is getting pretty bad.

Picked up Power Move Pro Wrestling for the PSOne for a $1. I'd remembered hearing about it, but couldn't remember which it was so I took the gamble. Turns out, it's a license stripped version of an AJPW and the precursor to the Smackdown series on the PS2.

Swamp Thing on DVD for $2. It was from the Kellogg's mail in form, as I was gonna order it but was moving around that time and lost the crap in a box until it expired. It was never opened, so I'm happy.

My sister found me Midway Arcade Treasures Vol 1 for the XBox for $1. I actually wanted this as I picked up the second version and this one has Rampage, Paperboy, Smash TV and some more.

Oh and I got a small fan and two pair of 29x30 jeans (one's American Eagle, one's Aeropostle) for $1 each.

EDIT: Almost forgot. At the last stop, I got a teeball bat for 50 cents. (15 ounce, lol) It was easily worth the 50 cents just to watch traffic on the walk home. People were slowing down and swerving way out of my way.

I went out for 3hrs today since noone else wanted to go with me. I had my NES controller tshirt on and had "hey bet hes a gamer" comments all day. Didnt help! Either noone had anything game related or it was like crappy Wii/PS1 stuff. Asked one lady about games and she said her husband had a bunch of "Atari and all sorts of Nintendo" stuff they put in the attic...........then she says "we went back up there a few years later and they had all melted from the heat!". I told her "lady thats probably the saddest thing Ill hear all day, Thanks anyways." I was done after that! Went to the store, grabbed 4 20oz bottles of Mountain Dew Baja Blast, and went home!

Just curious do you guys ever bring friends? I do occasionally but usually I don't because I've had friends who take WAY too long. Normally I spend 2-5min at each sale I go to. I've had friends who spent 8-10min at a few yard sales and didn't buy anything. I just don't have the patience for that lol.

One friend I go with, he's pretty good unless he's got his kid with him. Another one isn't too bad. The few times I went with my mom over the past few years, oh my God, she's the worst. She looks through every stack of clothes at every sale.

I started off going with my mom, then with my friends when I was able to drive, now I tend to go alone because my friends are adults. haha

I missed a decent lot today by about 15 seconds. I am pissed, but it was more than I would have liked to spend too (but I would have in order to get some of these games).

$75:  N64, 4 controllers, Starcraft, Gauntlet, paper mario, ocarina, mario 64, mario kart, diddy kong, and bond were the good games. 20 games total.

Lol

I'll go with friends or family if it's a highway sale simply because I know I won't find anything decent.  I prefer to go alone because I can usually tell if there's something I want at a sale witin 2 minutes.  My father is the worst person to go with if you want to keep moving; he thinks he has to have a 20 minute conversation with someone at each sale.

I bring the girlfriend when she is around (she works about 1/2 of the Saturdays). She doesn't really slow me down at all, because she pretty much wants to go home the entire time. hah

She really has no interest, but she only goes because of me. It is helpful with a 2nd set of eyes. I keep her on patrol for good DVDs, games, etc. When you pull up to those real crowded big sales I just let her loose and tell her to find whatever she can and block any videogames until I get there.

Horrible, horrible day for sales. Hit up one at 6:30 promising NES, SNES, and Sega games. Was greeted by a guy who runs a shop and said he e-mailed ahead to purchase everything. Ended up sticking around to see if there was anything I could scoop up, but seller didn't even show. Checked the CL post a couple of hours later and they had changed the date. Chased down a few more leads, but the only thing I found was Crash Twinsanity for $2 before having to call it a day (had lunch plans with the wife).

I've been trying to plan my route around CL ads, but I think I have to stop that. Competition around here is so fierce that sales like that are completely swamped, and the only places I actually find anything are unlisted sales or houses where I ask.

Damn that 1st dude is ruthless

I accused him of cheating when I first got there, but ended up apologizing later after spending 45 minutes talking to him. I can respect him trying run his own business, what with the job market as it is, and at least he loves the games. Doesn't mean I won't try to scoop him, though. ;)

Noticed a huge amount of blu-rays at one sale early today - most of them were stickered at $1 each. O_O Paid asking price for the lot. Walking Dead season 1, BTTF Trilogy, Conan the Barbarian & Conan the Destroyer, Elysium, Quantum of Solace & Casino Royale, all four Underworld movies, Les Mis 25th anniversary in concert, and...Poultrygeist...which appears to be signed.
Poultrygeist signed by Lloyd Kaufman, that is awesome!

For me wearing a gaming shirt equals higher prices, they assume since you are a gamer you will pay more for stuff, or that you are a reseller. Plain clothes or non gaming clothes work best and are more subtle.

We should get our Dads together to see which one gets sick of talking first. I predict it would take several days.

Update, that chick never called me back about picking up the NES lot. I'll bug her in a couple days since it is mother's day tomorrow. I can't call her up and say "Bitch! Where my nintendough?" on mother's day.

I bought a couple of random games, but nothing amazing today.

I only went to a couple sales today and I didn't find anything. But since I am the Cal Ripken of garage sales, I had to go out to keep the streak. 20 years garage saling this year. :oldman:
Since you brought up my man here's a pic of one of my favorite cards and his rookie buddies. You won't find these at a yard sale. I picked these up on Ebay in 2000 BK (before kids). Haven't bought anything off Ebay since 2004 AK (after kids). If you don't know anything about these check the value on 1982 Topps Traded Ripken not the regular issue.

By the way I don't think you should retire just yet. Like a great boxer or star quarterback you would miss the thrill of the chase and satisfaction of the find. It probably be a quick downward spiral of gambling and hardcore drugs to fill the void of 6 a.m. alarms on Friday and Saturday mornings.

Why do I continue to buy DVD's?  I know I've seen these movies countless times, own some on Blu-ray, can stream them, watch On demand cable, etc.  But for a dollar each I still can't so no especially collectors editions.  The Spidey comic from the set is sealed.  You can probably see this guy wrote his name on his stuff.  I think he was in the military and had to travel with shared living quarters.  My magic eraser will take care of that.  Only had a chance to hit 2 sales before work on Friday and this was one.

Today's finds. Nothing too spectacular, but I'm thrilled with finding the Cyndi Lauper record.

2hDiIVi.jpg
Now, I know that you didn't just refer to Iron Maiden as "nothing spectacular". Cause that would be wrong.

NIce find on the LP. I was at my mums the other day going through stuff in the large game collection I am buying from a sibling and I found a 45 of the Cyndi Lauper single from the Goonies. My dad was nortorious for record collecting, but I had no idea he had that one laying around.

Blinky Plush (Toy Factory) - Free
NES Bundle With All Cords Zapper & 2 Controllers & Some Misc - 42
Everything Else - 15

Lion King (SNES) & 2 Ryu Toys - .75
2 PS3 Games (Uncharted 3 GOTY Sealed) - Buck Each
2 Complete 360 Games - 8
5 Mystery Label 2600 Games - 2

Last Saturday went to a huge community sale (mostly bought non gaming items)

At one sale spotted a xbox controller and asked if they had any other gaming items...

Another shopper points out a 360 on a box that I thought was their trash! lol

Seller said it did not work but he had a controller... for a couple bucks...

He then offered the 360 if I wanted it...just tested it today...yep, it works!

So a working 20 GB 360 with a wireless controller and charging cable for $2....;)

I always go alone so I can have more flexibility in what I want to do. Also, most people that would go "saling" with me would be competition for the stuff I'm interested in. There's already enough of that.

Sales have been sparse in my area mostly because of weather. A couple of neighborhood sales coming up soon that should be good if the weather improves.

Nice find Donut. It's amazing the things some people throw out. I don't have a 360 yet because I prefer Playstation and I'm cheap. But I'm starting to see them different places and the prices are getting lower. I'm waiting for a killer deal since I won't play it much. 2 dollars sounds about right.

So I went to a community sale where apparently my Spanish teacher from high school was hosting a yard sale. Talked to her a bit about how I just graduated college and right before I left I asked if she had any old video games. She replied that she might have something in the basement and brought this up! Halo is sealed too which is cool! :) Paid 15.

The games are a little hard to see (and the mega pic just distorts them). That is Bubble Bobble, right? IF it is the second game it is $$$.

Oh damn haha I didn't even know I wish it was the second game! The list is (including manuals): Bubble Bobble, Captain Skyhawk, Dr.Mario, Junior Jeopardy, Punchout, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, Mario/Duckhunt, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Tetris. I'm selling Super Mario Bros 3 to make my money back as I already have a CIB copy and I'm keeping everything else for my collection! :)

Keep that Halo sealed, it's an original pressing. The original pressing wasn't around long, it was quickly replaced with "game of the year!" stamped on the cover.

4-26-14

Misc stuff as marked, DS games $1 each, eye toy 25 cents. This stuff is just scraps. I bought all of their old games in previous years. I had an awesome ps1 lot I bought from them that I think I posed last year. I bought their gamegear and games the year before that.

Paid $8 for these guys all complete: These were an icebreaker buy. The guy is digging something out of storage and I hope we can make a deal on it. You will see it here if we can come to a deal.

Getting hard to find SNES consoles $20, especially nice clean ones like this one. :) This was the chick that made everything half price AFTER I bought this. Kinda pisses me off, but $20 is still a great deal.

Cherry picked these for $10 (she wanted $5 each, so the other two games were $2.50 each in my head :p ). I was happy to add Global Assault to my collection, that fact that it is CICB (complete in crushed box) is a bonus ;)

:bouncy:

more to come...
