Let me know how the 3d is I want to get this but only if the 3d is pretty good.

I thought the 3D was well done. No pop-out or wow moments, but depth added to all the scenes. Didn't get that cardboard cutout look that you tend to see on poorly post converted stuff.
One thing to note is that the 3D is 1.78:1 vs OAR of 2.35:1 so sides of original are cropped & extra data added to too & bottom. Though, I thought the opened up picture helped for the 3D by letting you get more immersed.

I've been getting conflicting reports regarding the quality of the 3d for 'l, Robot'... so I think I might hold off.

I stopped in to Best Buy to get a flyer for an 'Abraham Lincoln' pricematch @ Target and noticed the sale price for 'Coraline', but I'll have to go back in to get my $15 back on 'Nightmare'... no biggie!
Bolt & Nightmare Before Christmas are both $19.99 at Best Buy, Coraline is $17.97 too but from what I've read in other forums for those that care the slip is a hit and miss.

I picked up Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas, I would have picked up Bolt but I was unsure if I had it on 3D or not which I don't. =/
Are you saying you weren't sure because of the art on the box? If so, this is what it should look like:

Watched both Coraline and Fright Night that I picked up from Best Buy. Coraline was pretty good, definitely one of the better 3D movies I've watched. If you're a fan of Coraline, you should definitely pick up the 3D version. With Fright Night, I noticed the same exact thing others have mentioned which is that there are some sections that are way too dark. Most of the 3D was pretty low-key and not worth writing home about BUT the (slight spoiler)
vampire disintegration kill scenes
were some of the best 3D effects I've seen in any movie. A really, really cool effect to see in 3D.

I think I'm gonna have to go back and pick up Nightmare Before Christmas (despite trying to watch my spending and already having the 2D blu ray)...

The Coraline 3D I bought today didn't have a slip, but it was the last copy at my store. I'll keep an eye out in case I have to do a "return/rebuy" for a dumb slipcover.

At least the Nightmare Before Christmas 3D bluray I bought today had a slipcover.

we are 3D fans and love pop up that's why invested in 3D tv and buy relative expensive 3D disc format but this year was almost without Pop out except KungFu Panda2 (whose story sucked) Still best well done 3D movie (with POP) is Resident Evil AfterLife & it was released in 2010
i started to lose hope on 3D future - Even Hobbit `ll be like Hugo ...just depth and 7% POP

IMAX can replace depth very easily over time .

Personally, I'm a big fan of 90% depth/10% "pop" 3D. It feels more immersive when there are the extra layers as opposed to things flying at your face all the time (but there is a time and place for that too - Final Destination, etc.).
I only got a few minutes into Nightmare Before Christmas when I noticed
one of the branches on the tree with the hangmen was at the wrong depth. It's right at the beginning during the song. On the right arm, his left, there's 3, I think, vertical branches and, if I remember right, the one in the middle is at the wrong depth. I did the whole rewind pause thing to double check
and after that I stopped watching it. Part of me wishes I didn't notice it at all
but after I did that's all I would be looking for. Not that I was looking for it to begin with, it just really stood out to me.

Why wouldn't it be? You've never stopped doing something just because you didn't like it or, as in this case, didn't feel it was worth your time?

I'm not exactly sure why you're calling my post out in the first place but when I notice flaws in the depth of a converted movie 5 minutes into said movie I don't tend to hold out much hope for the following 71 minutes and considering it's one of my favorite movies, not to mention one I've seen way too many times to count, I decided to stop watching it.

I put spoiler tags in the post so as to be helpful and not ruin it for anyone who otherwise may not have noticed it.

Other than that I can't possibly think of what else you'd have an issue with my post about. So if that didn't cover it for you, I don't know what to tell you. You may as well click ignore because I'm liable to say something else in the future that you'll find questionable.

I would've been put off if I had noticed that while watching NBC, but it WAS the first full 3d conversion (afaik) so it's not surprising that it has such issues... it's still much better than 'Clash' and 'Airbender'!

i was just being a jackass is all, not trying to be a thread bully. I just laughed when I read your post because I found it hard to believe someone would notice such a small (to me) detail and write it so passionately as you did. Carry on brother!

It wouldn't the first time I was told "only you would notice that" in my defense though it was hardly small on my 65" DLP!

Kind of an off-the-wall question, but I bought Hoodwinked Too a long ways back when it was dirt cheap on Amazon and I finally went to watch it yesterday. I can't get it to play on my PS3.

I tried both the 3D disc and the regular Blu disc. It goes to a black screen before even starting, and checking the details/info it shows it back stuck on Title 49 with a 0:00 counter. I can't skip around or pull up any menus.

Has anyone else had any problems with this movie not working?

I have a feeling your PS3 is just trying to spare you from watching a terrible movie... or, much worse, it's trying to commit suicide from having such a terrible movie inside of it.

But to actually attempt to be helpful: it might be one of those discs that checks for online info, but doesn't actually have any ('Zack and Miri Make a Porno' is the only title I own that has this specific problem)... so you should try disabling online features. I haven't seen anyone else mention this as an issue, but that doesn't mean it can't be the case!

I know it's supposed to be bad, but I figured "why not?"

As far as a fix, I'm not sure how I can, since I can't even get the disc to load. On the PS3 "dash," the movie is recognized by title, but when I select it, it goes black, the TV switches modes, and stays black. I let it sit for about 5 minutes with nothing.

I even thought my PS3 may have been acting up, so I put in Tangled 3D and it started up perfectly fine.

I can try taking the PS3 offline and see if that does anything. Thanks!

EDIT: I disabled the network connection on the PS3 and the movie started up right away. Thanks!

I don't know why some movies are like that, I recently moved to a new house and I was having problems because I didn't have an internet connection but still had the network enabled on the PS3.

Soon as I turned it off the movie instantly started working, I just think it's so dumb that certain movies just don't play right on certain players. I was watching Hocus Pocus and it had a slight pause every 5-8 seconds on my stand alone Blu-Ray player.

Awesome...I need to go get it at TARGET tomorrow. I forgot my coupon and cannot print at work.

Side question: Anyone see CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON 3D? I'm curious about how they handled the old B&W version. I can get from Amazon UK for $20ish shipped.

I'm curious about this too... it's one of the oldest 3D movies ever and I hope it got a good transfer (it doesn't sound like 'Dial M' got a very good transfer). Even though it's a great collection, I can't justify even spending the Amazon.co.uk price for that set.

Open Season on sale for only $14.99 at Amazon.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Tron Legacy and Alice in Wonderland are all also at all-time Amazon low of $19.99.
So this is the price at Target B&M or online price only?
Both. I was there on Sunday but I forgot to bring my coupon.

Thanks, picking it up tomorrow for sure. Just upgraded to a 3D TV. I haven't opened my standard edition Prometheus :br:....now to sell it.

I bought the Monsters set(sans coffin) from Amazon UK and watched this in 3d last night.

Personally, I thought it looked really good. Especially the scenes(and there were quite a few) with the boat going down the river. It felt like I was watching a live-action pop up story as the close up of the casts stood out from the background of them going down the river.

There were some good underwater scenes also.

There is a review of this over at http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/7836/creature_black_lagoon_54.html High-Def Digest. The review states that watching it in 3D is the way to go with this movie.
Nightmare Before Christmas and Bolt are also at an Amazon low of $19.99, but Open Season is OOS and back up to $17.99.
Fright Night is now on sale for $19.99 and My Bloody Valentine for $9.47.

With prices hitting $20 or below now, I wonder what we'll get for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals! (Although I already own pretty much all of the 3D titles out right now--waiting for deals on Dial M For Murder and Creature From the Black Lagoon--if available separately.)

FYI a store clerk at Target said that Prometheus 3D was being discontinued, I hit up 2 and none had it. Finally PM'd at Best Buy and used the MFG coupon successfully.

I was just about to post this. Is My Bloody Valentine 3D worth it? I still have the original bluray release on my shelf unopened.

Yeah, it's one of the better 3d movies I think. The only small problem is it can be bad with ghosting but that has more to do with your tv. On my older LG the ghosting was very bad but after getting my sony I re-watched it and there was almost no ghosting.

Any other Amazon UK exclusives that are REGION FREE that I should look for? Tempted to order the CREATURE. Although, the UNIVERSAL MONSTERS set is only like $60ish for all 8 movies.

It's pretty inconsistent. Some above average 3d in some scenes and some scenes with a lot of ghosting (enough that I had to check to see if my 3d glasses needed charging). That being said, for that price I'd say it's still worth it
