Never knew of that feature...I've been waiting forever for Nintendo to ad online mp to their VC games. I'd def buy Contra, Mario kart/64, smash bros etc again if it meant online!!!

I too am curious as to what the idle player does while the other plays in SMB3. Even at its worst I think itd be fun to watch.
It's just like old school on the NES. You take turns alternating when you die or finish a level. Really cool because you get your own screen to play on or watch when it's the other person's turn. The game reminds me how much more challenging (and fun) Mario games were when I was a kid compared to the NSMB games nowadays. Although I still have to finish up Luigi U. :D

also add...super Luigi bros is being added to NES Remix 2: It's the entire smb game, backwards, with Luigi who can jump higher but is harder to control

Hooray, Picross!

Got an email from Nintendo this morning saying that fan picked Mega Man games are going to be featured in the eShop next month for "Mega May".  Probably a whole lot of nothing and non-discounts but there's that.

It's not discounts but rather releases, namely the release of every single Game Boy/Color Mega Man title that hasn't been put up yet (II, III, IV, V, Xtreme, Xtreme 2).

You do realize that the multiplayer is local only right? Unless I completely missed something?

Oh. Wasn't there a portable remake of the first few X games?
Well, the Xtremes are, kind of, or rather they're a weird sort of remix homage thing (again, as Dr. Wiley's Revenge was to the NES games--however, unlike Dr. Wiley's Revenge, the Xtreme games are actually good).

There's a PSP remake of the first X. I can't think of anything else tho!

yeah, local only. Totally lame! Come on Nintendo! It's a friggin SNES game online mp should be simple. Every reputable emulator under the sun has online mp. No wonder why people still use emulators (other than for costing nothing lol)

Are you new here? :) Super Mario Bros. 3 released on the Famicom and NES, and that's the version this is. There was a SNES version packaged in with Super Mario All-Stars, though.

Part of the joy of playing Nintendo games multiplayer has always been being in the same location (anyway, that's Nintendo's reasoning most of the time). I don't think playing SMB3 on-line would be much fun, personally, just sitting there watching someone clear a level.

Unless we're talking about a different game now and I missed something.

If you are someone who does dailies or had stretches where you play the game every day then it's worth having digital just so you don't have to keep swapping carts all the time and can play on the go whenever. If you already passed this point in the game it might not be worth it. For someone who's never played the game before I'd say digital is the way to go.

Only you can answer that for yourself. If you play it a lot, you might think so, but then, why did you not buy the digital copy to begin with?

Agreed. This is why I've been holding out for a digital version for the longest time, I know I'm going to play far too often for a physical cart not to be a pain in the ass.

I got the cart for like $20 something a few weeks after release when Walmart had that unexpected price drop on it. I couldn't pass that up.

The game is always in the extra game slots in my case, so I always have it with me. However, I play it pretty sporadically now. I'll go through phases where I play it a few days in a row, then I won't play for a few weeks.

I also have about $45 in Nintendo eshop credit that has been sitting in my wallet for a while.

Might be nice to save that credit! I'm sure you'll use it eventually! I've got quite a bit left from the last BB ecard sale :) But I think I might actually grab Donkey Kong and Mario 3D Land.

Updated my post with the % off (which Google helped me figure out), and the end date (which is according to sources like Joystiq and Nintendo Life).

Note, These games are UNIVERSAL price drops, confirmed at Amazon and Best Buy (Gamestop is taking their time)

If you are Best Buy Gamer Club Unlocked, NEW physical copies will now be only $24+tax!

Considering how long it took N to drop prices on these games, keep you eyes peeled for more sales/deals.

...are you sure it wasn't just because online play wasn't possible? Lol. It's not like they CHOSE to not have online play.

How often are there two 3ds's in the same location? My fiance and friend dont have 3ds's for when he is over. But with a home console, couch co op is obviously much more feasible. Couch co op with handhelds? Nope.

However, I have plenty of long distance friends who have 3ds and would love to play with me. But who cares? Would the extra option have ruined the game? Nope. It's not like excluding online makes it better, or anything. My argument still stands that emulators since the early 2000s have done online play flawlessly and that there is no excuse for a billion dollar veteran company not to include the same ancient feature.

So you want to silently sit and take turns playing levels over the internet?

They did "choose" to not have on-line play, because they definitely could have done it if they'd wanted to. However, for whatever reason it was not worth it to them, either money or otherwise. I'm not pretending to know what Nintendo thinks. They have always been a complete mystery of logic to me.

I can see in many cases where that might not be fun, but as a universally favorite classic amongst my friends and I, smb3 would be ripe for speed run competitions.

So...still, it makes more sense to buy physical copies of the games...  I really don't understand why Nintendo wouldn't make digital retail games at least $5 cheaper than physical..

Sony and Microsoft need to be questioned on this too. It's an industry-wide problem. They could keep the same profit margins by lowering the price due to less distribution costs, or simply keep it at the same price and increase their margins significantly - which option do you think these million and billion dollar corporations would rather choose? There are some cases where I've seen Nintendo go $5 cheaper for digital copies though, albeit rarely, like with Animal Crossing ($35 on eShop, $40 physical)

Yep, it's kind of a kick in but crotch for consumers.

What's annoying is that the retailers they're protecting frequently undersell the eShop (might want to replace "frequently" with "always").

I wish they'd just let everyone sell eShop download codes and let them set the prices whatever they want, if they're so concerned with retailers.

MAY 8 must be RPG day for the E SHOP

The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll Hits North America and Europe on 8th May

THE DEMO HITS MAY 2

AND

Grinsia Heading To The North American 3DS eShop On 8th May

sort of shocked they would release BOTH at once

GRINSIA has been CONFIRMED IT WILL COST 9.99 WHERE IT WILL FLOP MAJOR AND DIE VERY FAST LOL

WAVES BYE BYE TO GAMEFLY these two games will last me a few months along with my backlog
Yeah, I'm kind of concerned that Grinsia will suck. I think Denpa 3 will be fun, but I haven't played through the first two yet. Alas.

Only if they refuse to buy retail games. Otherwise they have the option of getting whatever is the cheapest. Nintendo's the only one that loses out by never putting their digital stuff on legit sale.
I suppose, only that we have to consider that Nintendo doesn't lose much money on the sale due to no publishing and licensing costs. And with $5 billion cash monay in da bank and their huge install base, I suppose they're not too desperate.

I laugh when Nintendo games make a permanent price drop and advertise it as a "sale"

Hey now. They are a storied developer with a long history. I'm sure they've made something decent. I can't think of what it would be, but...
I actually enjoy Kemco's old school style. Do they all feel the same? Sure. But I still love them. Symphony of Eternity was good all the way through. If you don't like their style of JRPG then they probably don't have anything for you. But I do like Kemco's games. They are kind of like RPG Maker Games that I can play on mobile platforms.
