thanks go to ShadowGuard @ SD for this!

I tried it out, it works, I wish I could substitute some games instead of the all the movies they are giving away with the PS3.

Thanks. Just ordered a PS3, Letters From Iwo Jima, Kingdom of Heaven, and Casino Royale. $478 for me - $25 GC = $453. Great deal.

Interesting. The link is for purchasing the Toshiba HD-DVD players, but includes Blu-Rays. I'd try this if I didn't already have a PS3 from the first promo w/RE:A and Sony Bluetooth remote.

Offhand, it seems like a loophole of some kind, so I'd jump in before the deal disappears.

Oh man I already purchased a PS3 from Circuit City last month. Hmm. I wonder if it's worth it to return it now. I'm not too late to return it and I have everything.

I've already created some user accounts on my PS3. I guess I can just delete everything all accounts right?

Damn if i hadnt just bought a ps3 in july i would jump on this.... i swear the ps3 is great for blurays now and will be good for games when they come out..... thats honestly not fanboyism.
I think it also works for the $599 Motorstorm Bundle if you prefer the extra GBs.
You are right!

Since I have the 10% extra off HD movies promo, the total cost of an 80GB Motorstorm bundle with X-Men The Last Stand, Ice Age, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen would cost $563.65. Shit and double shit. I'm almost a little sad I jumped on the first Amazon bundle promo now.

I'll say again that this deal is worth jumping on now if you're a movie fan.

Edit: I mean, jump in fast, because I don't believe the promo is going to last the way it is now.
i jumped on the 60gig. Figured it was as good a deal as any to make sure i get the Emotion Engine before its gone.
All PS3s made after April 2007 will not have the emotion engine.:cold:

Dam.Pay day is a week a way.:bomb:If I had the funds I would have jumped on this deal.

Good call, I don't think this deal is going to last 24 hours.
After investigating the forums, I don't believe this to be true. The confusion lies with Sony producing and selling Emotion Engine-less PS3s in April 2007 (actually March 2007), but strictly for the European and Korean market. The North American PS3 supplies of 60gbs still have the EE chip built-in and there's no official statement that says otherwise.

Thanks OP. Great deal. I've been sitting back waiting for a deal on the PS3 for about a month now. Can't pass this up!!!

Anything else weird about this loophole? This is seriously weird...but cool!

Dang, my biggest hesitation is whether future PS3 models will play older games well or not.

Ridiculously hot deal --- I have an XBox 360 and actually just recently got the HD-DVD addon. This pushed me over the edge --- I will sell the 5 extra Blu-rays that I get, which will drop the PS3 cost to ~$378-390, and will keep three of my favorite movies in Blu-ray format:

Casino Royale
The Departed
Rocky Balboa

The extra $20 off loophole was a key in this deal. I wonder how long it will take Amazon to fill in that hole.

I got the HD-DVD player for my 360. Great deal but it's bad timing as I just cannot spare the cash. If I win the lottery tonight the first thing I do is get on Amazon.

When I get the 8 blu-ray movies, can I return them to walmart or something? They are all brand new, right? This would mean that I could get a PS3 for about $280.

I heard that all the free blu-ray movies come in bright yellow cases so Walmart knows not to take them back

If only I had $500 to blow.

I'm still going to wait untill the price drops again and/or there are more than 2 games I'm even mildly interested in.

I'm guessing you're just joking...last week, I received my five free Blu-ray discs from the mail-in offer and they weren't in "bright yellow cases."

hmm there is no list of movies when i click on the link.....maybe amazon is catching on. damn i would've actually bit if it was still working. nevermind got it to work. didnt add the ps3 to the cart

A few weeks ago, I picked up a PS3 due to similar thinking (and mentally deducting the cash proceeds I would get when I would then sell of my PS2) and I now regret that. While I've upgraded the firmware, I just don't think the PS2 games look as good on the PS3 as they do with my slim ps2...Then factoring in the lack of rumble, the fact that my guitar hero guitars don't work on the PS3 and its nice to have system that you can stick in a backpack or move to another TV, if only to use as a DVD player, with no effort, I've decided to keep my PS2 and just sell off the PS3 instead. I'll buy another PS3 in a two years or so, when hopefully there might be more than a handful of games worth playing on it. The PS3 is a nice piece of hardware but there is still isn't much to play on it.
question: where does the -27.95 (bringing the ps3 total to $472) come from?
For some reason Amazon deducts the price of ALL the movies and also deducts the lowest price movie from your overall total. For me it was 21.95, so it depends on what movies you get.
question: where does the -27.95 (bringing the ps3 total to $472) come from?
The reason it works is because Amazon is applying 2 promotions.

- Great 3 free movies with purchase of hardware (~$84)
- Buy 2 Get 1 Free for Blu Ray (~$28)

ok, thanks guys

I had to bite on this deal. Also got 3 movies I wanted. I wanted to get the 60gb with the EE so I can play most of my old games. Now I just got to put up my old PS2 Slim on eBay and hope I get some good bids on it.

ok, i'm a little behind on all this PS3 talk because, frankly, i haven't given a hoot about the PS3.

the question i have is this:

what's the difference in backwards compatibility for emotion vs. non-emotion chip systems? for non emotion chip engines, wouldn't it just download emulation updates, like the 360 does for old XBox games?

I almost bit on this, but I still just can't justify buying a PS3 just to be a blu-ray player. I gotta have some games before I buy it, no matter how much I like technology.

You can't find the list anymore. But just add 3 blu-rays to your cart the discount thing still works.

I'm thinking about this one since Lair is now upon us. That's the only PS3 title I have wanted a PS3 for so far. I think I would snag Pursuit of Happyness and Balboa (I have yet to see Balboa and I have all the other Rockys). But I'm torn between Gone in 60 Seconds (which I love) and Premonition (which I haven't seen). Decisions, decisions...

Amazing deal, ordered!

In just a week I will officially be an owner of the PS3, wo0t!

Picked up Kingdom of Heaven, The Departed, and Casino Royale. Awesome!!! :)

Thanks OP! I didn't expect to get a PS3 any time soon (especially since I just bought my first HDTV), but I couldn't pass this deal up. Twenty bucks below retail with eight free blu rays is just ridiculous.

Since my teenage years of owning a Saturn, PS1 and N64 this is the first time I've owned all three major consoles. BIG THANKS.

Ill make it easy for you. Premonition sucks

This is really tempting me. I would get the 60 gb version and the following bluerays: 300, Stranger than Fiction, The Transporter, Transporter 2, Resident Evil 2, Corpse Bride, Invincible, and the Italian Job. Plus I can add the Bioshock guide and Metroid Prime 2 guide without shipping. All of this for under $500 (only $497) and no tax or shipping...plus there are actually some games for PS3 coming out: Ratchet and Clank, Lair, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Folklore which I want plus I already want Resistance and Ninja Gaiden...decisions decisions.
how do you get it at $472? the price of the PS3 is $499

I tried it and I got it for $533
can you please explain
Do everything the OP says and add 3 movies from the correct selection to the list.

There are currently 2 promos running with the purchase of a PS3 on Amazon:
-3 free BluRay
-B2G1
They are stacking, so when you add three movies, it makes them all free, but then also under the B2G1 takes the price of the lowest movie gets taken off.
