Here is a list of all the known games on Amazon that come with a gift card or gaming credit. If the Amazon price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Release date delivery is available on many of these titles, which is free for Amazon Prime members.

The status of these offers fluctuates. Please read the details on the Amazon product page before ordering.

Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.
Amazon is now denying me on a vg credit because they're saying one per customer.

I bought Glory of Heracles and used $10 on SSFIV. According to them, SSFIV is the same promo as Glory. wtf??
try calling back m-th between 10am - 4pm EST. You tend to get better CSRs then

you know Amazon is wrong and they do as well

I've emailed them and called twice.

It makes no sense because they basically consider all video game promos the same promo? From now on I'm gonna email them before every single purchase to make sure I qualify.

btw, i never see a "Chat" tab in help section/contact us.

Try @ 8am PDT +, from Monday to Friday.

Better chance at that time to get hold of a local CSR rather than a foreign CSR across the India Ocean?

I've been trying to resolve a missing game credit. Called in twice and email once. No reply. When I called they said they'd forward to marketing but never got any reply afterwards.
yeah I got two. Then since I used them to make a purchase over $7.99 I got a $4.00 VOD credit and 6 month subcription to Rolling Stone mag for $1.
I only got one this time. It shipped a few days ago and if I remember correctly it's sent once it ships. Last time they gave me two.

Yeah, I had the same issue with Glory & NSMBWii. Luckily, the second rep I got thru email gave me the credit and apologized for the first rep being wrong, so definitely keep trying.

The ones in the live chat are americans (guessing by their names). At the end is up to you, I've had an excellent experience with that service.

I preordered Madden 11 with credit I had from Bioshock 2 ($20). Is it possible to switch that pre-order to another game that comes out first and still get my $20 back?

Don't be fooled, companies usually give their Indian employees American sounding names on their customer service interactions.

If you're talking about those "video game credits," I think you have to be sure the credit would not have expired. Some expire in three months, some longer. Maybe even some shorter? But if the credit would still be good, then I believe you get it back.

Not that I have any experience with that. I don't use my credit for preorders for just this reason. I'd rather just use it toward games I know I'll be getting right away that I'm confidant I'll not change my mind on (or see something else shiny in the meantime I'd rather have).
Don't be fooled, companies usually give their Indian employees American sounding names on their customer service interactions.
So true. Years ago, I worked for a bank where they switched a lot of the CS from us (Americans in SE US) to India. So this initial swap caused a lot of consternation as callers would come through demanding, "Are you in the US?" "You sound like you are from the US?" "You're not a *** **** Indian, are you? I can't say his name told me something that doesn't make any sense!" "All I wanted was and he/she whose name I can't pronounce couldn't even understand me!" Etc. This is what was said. (Not trying to be racist, though the customers sure were in many cases.) Anyways, eventually Corporate sent them a missive telling them to stop using their actual names and use American-sounding names to help the customers remember the names. Eventually, that missive reached us and we were allowed to change OUR names just so long as we documented the name we were using on the phone.

This led to lots of customers complaining that they just talked to Michael Jackson and he gave some "fishy information." Apparently, customers were talking to a lot of Barbara Streisands, Michael Jackson's, Michael Jordan, John Doe, and Brad Pitt's. Needless to say, I laughed. These were the early days of the Indian CS migration, though...

Looking for prices on Fifa WC 2010 (to beat Target's $47), I saw Amazon has $10 credit for Wii, 360, PS3, and PSP versions.

Is Amazon no longer giving free copies of Prototype with Singularity preorders? I don't see that on the product page :(

edit- OK, just found out what's up. They seem to have two SKU's for Singularity 360- one with the $20 VG credit, and the other with the free copy of Prototype. So you can't get BOTH anymore.

I preordered my copy when they were offering $20 VG credit and then I noticed later that they added the copy of prototype. Shouldn't I be getting both since they were both offered together at one point after my preorder?

CHeapy or Mods we need a asterisk so people will stop asking this.

Speculation based on past facts:
All new copies of game (at least the first printing) should come with a card inside that you can exchange online or by mail (and a small shipping fee) for the game.

Only for 360 correct?

Yes, here's a link

Also, I'd move my order over to the one with the free graphic novel. You would then get
-Singularity
-Graphic Novel
-$20 vg credit
-Prototype

At least it seems that way

3D Dot Game Heroes - $29.99 w/a $10 video games credit

As a wise man once said, "If you don't buy this game, you're an asshole."
As a wise man once said, "If you don't buy this game, you're an asshole."
So you can judge people by what games they buy? Cool!

Just for the record, I bought the game on day 1 ;)

Great story. I always figured they just did it to make people think they were talking to an American (which appears to have worked for some). At least part of the reason is that it's for remembering their names. Makes me feel a little bit better.

When I preordered my Rockband Green Day they were offering $20 giftcard. Today it shipped and I got a email saying $10. Anyone else have this problem?

Me too. We'll see what the credit is when it's actually applied.
Me too. We'll see what the credit is when it's actually applied.
yep, that's what I am checking on this forum for. I double checked the e-mail I received and it shows 20 dollars, so I'll forward that to them if the credit ends up being only 10 dollars.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I just got an email stating that my Green Day Rock Band order shipped and that I qualified for a $10 promotional credit. What happened to the $20 credit?

Yeah I got the email that stated Green Day RB shipped and qualified for $10 credit but we'll see when the actually credit is applied. If it's only $10 then I'm going to be pissed since like many orders, that's when I put my order in.

Same here. I just sent them an email stating my concern.

hate when Amazon do that.... it's not fair and honest from Amazon, then you have to contact them and some idiot from customer service "who can't get what you're complaining", what's fair for you (and you keep explaining... and bla bla bla...... and finally he give up and you get your giftcard as they promise you.

Of course if some dumb customer representative told you..."oh, it can only applied 1 per customer".... just ignore him and speak with another representative.

But it's a waste of time... that annoys me.

Amazon matched Target on this.

I received $20 credit for tiger woods 11 already. First time in a long time that they have been on time or early with a promo for me. Now to buy 3d dot game heroes...

I think you've got that wrong.

A SKU is distinct for each retailer.

UPCs and ISBNs are the numbers that are the same regardless of retailer.
No, I'm pretty sure only Amazon uses their system. ;)
no, i know what an ASIN is. I'm talking your statement "while a SKU is usually the same for each retailer." The SKUs are different for each retailer.

Not always.
example?
Dude, I am not running to a store to compare SKUs just to have a conversation with you... So to make this simple, as I'm sure others are just as tried of this as me, I'll add you to my ignore list.

Have a nice day. :)
no, i know what an ASIN is. I'm talking your statement "while a SKU is usually the same for each retailer." The SKUs are different for each retailer.
Not correct. SKUs are rarely different for different retailers. Occasionally they do differ if there is a unique version of something (for example the Red Dead Revolver GS edition versus the normal edition or a re-release/GOTY edition versus the original release or sometimes a specific retailer will get a unique SKU if their version has a special download code enclosed, etc...), but otherwise the publisher assigns a unique SKU to a game and that is used by every retailer for that particular game.
