Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.

I could care less about Builletstorm tbh. Seems to rely on a novely (being skillshots). And no competitive MP just confirms I won't get it.

same
and Games for windows live yuck

The Bulletstorm one has me worried....it used to be epic edition thta included the Gears 3 beta for 360 but this is the promotional wording for the 360 version now

"Special Pre-Order Upgrade Offer
Pre-order Bulletstorm for Xbox 360 and get a $10 promotional credit toward the purchase of items shipped and sold by Amazon.com (certain exclusions apply, including Kindle books, MP3s, and video rentals and downloads). Also, receive a free upgrade to Bulletstorm - Limited Edition, which contains the full version of Bulletstorm plus the Deadly Peace Maker Carbine, additional boots and armor, 25,000 experience points, and visual upgrades for the iconic leash. Pre-order offer ends on February 21, 2011. The promotional credit will be added directly to your Amazon.com account within two days after your order ships. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Limit one per household. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time."

I got it off newegg for 50 a while back but was gonna change to amazon with the 10 dollar credit since it's cheaper but if I don't get the Gears 3 beta...it's pointless

Just figured I would point this out to people so they didn't get screwed over by wording

The 'Epic Edition' is an automatic pre-order upgrade for any outlets that are selling it.
the gears beta isn't an amazon exclusive. all versions of bulletstorm epic edition have it.
Right and there is no such thing as a Bulletstorm "Limited Edition" for the 360, only the PS3. All 360 launch copies are Epic and after that (assuming it ever sells out), the new copies will just be standard.

Right, it's just a typo / glitch. The cover art and title say "Epic Edition". I'm more concerned about old preorderes not getting the $10 promo credit. :p
I've had Deus Ex and Dragon Age 2 pre-ordered for a while now, have either of those ever had a gaming credit preorder deal?
nope

I've ordered not only both console versions of a game, but the LE on one and the standard on the other and still only received the credit once. Doubling up does not work.
I seriously doubt they'll up the credit of MvC3. But for LBP2, it jumped from $0 credit to $20 credit 2 days before release, so I guess it's possible. Don't get me wrong I'd love to have $20 credit on MvC3. I have a 360 and PS3 copy preordered to get double the credits.

Why did they jack the RDD from MvC3? On the product page, it list it, but doesn't offer it through the check out process.
I would like to know that also.
anyone get their Test Drive Unlimited 2 $10 promos yet?
Yes, I received mine the same day it shipped. But I also ordered it the day before release. It's good until the end of Feb 2012.
Walmart.com added a $10 egift card for Mass Effect 3 so Amazon will probably match it at some point.
oh man i can only hope!

This is a tough one for me. I was hoping for a bit more because this game will come out probably around Black Friday, and last year most of EA's games were around 30-35 bucks. Hopefully it will be like it this year as well.
Walmart.com added a $10 egift card for Mass Effect 3 so Amazon will probably match it at some point.
Wow, that is fucking awesome. ME3 is my most anticipated game this year and any amount off a preorder is just awesome. Hopefully amazon matches so I can possibly get release date delivery.
Walmart.com added a $10 egift card for Mass Effect 3 so Amazon will probably match it at some point.
Those of us crazy/lucky enough to have the LE of ME1 and CE of ME2 will be on the lookout for the CE/LE of ME3 they'll have out.

Which, like past CE/LE releases from Amazon, probably won't end up with a credit. Feh.

Nice to see that they are matching Walmart on this one, so hopefully Walmart will do the same with the CE/LE of ME3.

While I am hoping for a CE/LE, it seems like EA is starting to go down the route of just doing the preorder free upgrade LE's, instead of larger packages with extra tangible goods - such as the Bioware edition Dragon's Age 2 and Epic edition/LE Bulletstorm. If this happens with ME3, may be a win/win situation all around, unless you're specifically in to the things such as maps, coins, decks of cards, etc. I'm not sure which i really prefer.

Nice they added the 10 dollar credit for Mass Effect 3, but I'll hold off for the inevitable Collector's Edition they are bound to announce.
I miss all the good amazon credit deals :(
Me too. I passed on the Signature Edition of Dragon Age 2 assuming that the regular version would get a $20 credit. After all, EA will sell all of the Signature content separately anyway, and I can get discounts on MS points. I guess if Amazon doesn't do the credit, I'll buy somewhere else.
So there's no chance the mvc3 SE's come with a credit?
Only if it is sold by Amazon. At the moment it looks like they are sold out of Special Editions so they wont come with the promotion.
So there's no chance the mvc3 SE's come with a credit?
As of something like a month ago, there's no chance of getting a MvC3 SE from amazon.

So is it true that the SE is actually limited and will not be printed any longer? What is out there is all there is left?

Got my tracking# for the PS3 version of regular edition, nothing yet on the Xbox 360 Reg and SE but does say shipping soon. there is hope!
I ordered one when they were announced, so yeah I should have mine tomorrow. Just didn't know about a GC..
That's good. I sat on the fence too long and had to go for the Capcom Store. There's no GC for the SE on amazon.

"all"? What about Fear 3 within a couple days of your post?
WTF Amazon? Why doesn't Killzone 3 have pre order credit? It's a huge game.
They still might. They waited until the last minute with LBP2 didn't they?

No it's definitely not true. Rarely ever has there been a SE the only possible way to get one was via preorders (not including EA ones and even those can be obtained after release)

EDIT: Wtf. I just checked my order of MvC3 with Release Date Delivery. I had 2 PS3 copies and 1 360 copy ordered. The 360 copy shipped this morning and the PS3 copies are still on Shipping soon >_< I better get them tomorrow. I don't know if it's a delay on the site or w/e. But if it isn't there's no way it'll get here on release the same day they ship it out considering they ship with Next Day air.

Count me as hopeful for K3 credit as well. If not, I'll try K-mart. Though I've had less than stellar experiences with them having items in stock on time and I don't really want to waste another trip.
