Here is a list of all the known games on Amazon that come with a gift card or gaming credit. If the Amazon price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Release date delivery is available on many of these titles, which is free for Amazon Prime members.

The status of these offers fluctuates. Please read the details on the Amazon product page before ordering.

Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.

I got the same thing. Below is copied directly from my shipment confirmation e-mail from amazon.

Congratulations. Your purchase has qualified you for a $15 promotional credit toward the purchase of items shipped and sold by Amazon.com (certain exclusions apply, including Kindle books, MP3s, and video rentals and downloads). The credit will be applied directly to your Amazon.com account within two days after your product ships once processing is complete.

Our Pre-order Price Guarantee covers one or more item(s) in this order. If the Amazon.com price decreases between the time you place your order and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price.

Congratulations. Your purchase has qualified you for a $10 Video Games promotional code. The promotion code will be applied directly to your Amazon.com account up to two (2) business days after your product ships.

I wonder if Amazon will apply double credit if you preorder now?

Was going to wait till it hit $30, but if they going to do this I might get it now...

To the above posts, it doesn't appear that would work. It seems that the double credits are coming from people who preordered when the credit was $10 and then $15. I preordered a couple weeks ago when it was $15 and my email only states I will be receiving the $15.
I got that same email. I got another one today saying they deposited 15 into my acount (boy they are fast, I thought I had to wait 2 days lol ) I didn't get the extra 10
Ditto this. My shipping email had both credits listed, but my actual promotion received was just the $15 one.

When I used my 15 promo credit towards infamous 2 (got it for 0 dollars with credit remaining, Thanks amazon trade ins !) It didn't take of an extra 10 so that only reconfirmed to me that we won't get it. Now to wait and see what deal they might have for infamous 2
Mine too.
You serious ? Man that sucks, Hope amazon gives you something for this. Did they say when you would get your order ? Good thing I ordered this over two weeks ago.
fuck my order has been delayed in Arizona because of mechanical probelms.
Same... I guess what they say about misery loving company is true. :p

You guys live in CA too by chance?

It's a UPS issue, so doubt Amazon would do anything about it.

I wouldn't be so sure. I once had a shipping problem where the game wasn't delivered on time(not a release day delivery) and they gave me an extra month of prime.

Really? Wow, guess I'll e-mail customer support and see if they do anything for me. ;)

Decided to do the live chat thing instead, and the CSR gave me a $10 credit! For another $10, I don't mind waiting a bit longer. Really glad I listened to you. :)

Just got my $15 promo credit for LA Noire too. Time to preorder Batman Arkham City!

I ordered. Used book for my mother but the seller didn't have it anymore so my order was canceled. So amazon used the credit I used to get the book and ordered me a new one with free shipping. I ended up paying less for the new copy than than used one ! Their customer service is great

What did you say to get the $10 credit? Did you ask for it or did you tell them your problem and let them offer it?

I said I knew they weren't responsible for the delay, but asked if they could compensate me in any way. Just ask nicely. :)

I chatted with CS and they said both the $15 and $10 are on my account, it's just they can't be used on the same order. So order #1 would take off $15, order #2 would take off $10.

That's weird.

That worked like a champ. I hate waiting an extra day but $10 softens the blow. ;)

Same here in California.

Looks like Amazon somehow disappeared most of my Portal 2 pre-order credit, leaving me with only like $1.50. Was it $15 or 20 for preorders? I see that the header of this thread said $15, but didn't know if it was ever higher than that. Either way, I need to call them and figure out what happened. Checked my order history and haven't bought anything else from them since my Portal 2 copy shipped.

Do you have any subscribe and save orders set up?

Amazon-Ups delivered the game to the wrong address (in another city!). First time that's happened in my 5+ years of using their site. Spoke to a rep who placed a replacement order arriving on Thursday. Excellent Amazon...
Do you have any subscribe and save orders set up?
Nope. I haven't bought anything from amazon since Portal 2 shipped. What I think happened was I was going to get a game before on sale, but I reconsidered and decided against it since it was going to use up my Portal credit when I bought it, so I exited the site before checkout. I think maybe my credit got erased during that near-transaction. I'll call them and straighten it out.

I've never had that happen, every time I cancelled the transaction the credit or promo balance rolled over.

I can't seem to find the The Ultimate Swordsman Suit DLC code that comes with The Witcher 2. I got everything from Amazon but not the DLC.

Usually that comes via e-mail at least with consoles. I cannot find mine either

After some detective work on my part, it looks like my credit was actually applied to several impulse MP3 album purchases I've made on my phone in the past month. I had no idea that my gaming credit was being applied. It all works out the same, but finding out I've unwittingly already used up nearly $20 on a few MP3 albums is a little disappointing. At least I have my answer.

New credit is no longer gaming credit, it can be applied to anything sold by amazon.

I'm in California and my copy of LA Noire is stuck in Albuquerque as well ... I asked nicely if there was anything they could do to compensate me and I got a $5 promotional credit. It's not $10 ... but better than nothing.
I understand for B&M stores, I was just commenting on Amazon's "policy." Like I said, I haven't had any issues doing the same within a reasonable time so hopefully it's not something they are looking for when potentially flagging an account.
If you buy enough items, they eventually will just give it. Many many many CAGs have all relayed stories of doing this without issue. Sometimes you have to do multiple e-mails or even call, but it will almost always work out.

In other news, Amazon USED to have a 30 day policy. The problem was, they were starting to do lots of online deals and their new process involved frequent price fluctuations instead of daily updates late at night. Because of this, it was a logistical nightmare to have people (like many of us on this board) e-mail every time an item dropped .10-.15.

This was especially an old case when Amazon used to formally clearance items. Games would drop to a price and you'd know they'd drop 5-10 more times in the 30 day window until stock was depleted. People would buy a few copies at the price they wanted, but would hope it would drop again and then get the difference back.

I miss the old days. Awww.
Anyone else's LA Noire come with shrink wrap instead of the usual Y fold?
I got mine in the shrink wrap. I also got "the broderick" and "the consuls car" dlc codes

I emailed in this morning around 1030 to tell them that I was disappointed but that I knew it wasn't really their fault. They ended up crediting me $15. I guess I kind of emailed at the right time.

Yep, mine got delayed too and amazon rep would only give me $5 credit. And I thought I was so slick doing release date delivery...

Only changed is it's only significant new releases now. Portal, Homefront, Tiger wood and now LA Noire (in my opinion) will all have had price drops in the first thirty days..and all we have to do is IM Amazon and ask for it back...and they do it no questions asked. I haven't paid above 19.99 for more than one game this year? And i've bought...6? All of them new releases delivered on release date.

So now...
