F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

Ohh no, you're not blaming me for this:

1. I repeatedly stated that I had no issue with the $5 credit's, but rather the fact that the Darksider's Franchise Pack, which I bought on the supposed "last day" of the sale, was re-listed just a day later so that the coupon code (which we weren't given any notice about) could be used against. To repeat: If the Darksiders Franchise Pack had not been extended to allow the coupon to be used against it, I would have had nothing to complain about. I would have simply seen there was nothing else I was interested in applying the coupon to, and went on my merry way.

2. There were only a very few people who complained (and yes, I was the most vocal) who were also affected by the having bought the Darksiders Deal, but what you guys are talking about now (EA not wanting to drop prices, making sure games at lower prices expire before the coupon can be used, etc.) are unrelated. The only reason people are pissed at me is because Tony said specifically that the response on this forum and no others was the direct cause of the complainers to the $5 coupon and also the data for sales already being strong: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10321757&postcount=11700
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10321805&postcount=11708

3. More than a week ago, Tony promised "impactful" deals at Christmas. Time and time again, post have been written asking where these deals were, and Tony's response was that that particular post was written early and that it no longer applied: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10321757&postcount=11700
In other words, Tony was capable of doing deeper discounts but decided not to, because as he claims "Since there was so much conversation around people feeling upset around the $5 coupon we decided not to go deeper than the BF promos since it was arguably within a month."

My first post on the subject was at 8 AM yesterday. Something isn't right here. First, He claims because of the reaction to the $5 coupon code on this forum, however as we all know it takes weeks to put the pricing for sales and discussions/contracts between the publishers to make these deals happen. We are all supposed to believe that Tony scrubbed ALL of those plans because of a handful of complaints (on a separate issue, regarding only one game the coupon was being applied to) on one forum (when these deals are posted in many, not just by him, but are everywhere (steamgifts, slickdeals, etc.) on the internet, and did so in less than 24 hours before they were to go on sale?!? So he made the decision (as he claims) to cost Amazon potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars because of a few whiners? I'm not buying that, or the statment that they were scrubbed for market research. Even CheapLikeAFox noted "Seems odd the promo would be altered or held back for them when I thought the majority was happy with it." I agree. It's to fishy. That did not come about because of me. Tony states "Again, we're collecting data not shooting from the hip, and the end goal is to create a better experience for the customer." http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10322795&postcount=11892

I don't want to get banned here (or silenced) as I only made a complaint about a separate issue and it's being used (by both forum posters and the Amazon rep) as an excuse to further their own agendas, or use as a scapegoat. But blaming me for what's happened when it so clearly has been blown out of proportion (and I clearly, as can be seen from my post on the matter, had no malice toward him,Amazon, or anyone) is not being truthful, or fair......to anyone.
2k coupons still in transit?
Probably. I got mine an hour ago and that was from a DNF purchase last January.
Amazon has screwed up a great many things during this promotion, lol. Great promotion, just a total mess.

The cake Ubisoft email is a lie.
Yeah, I just tried to purchase Heroes of Might and Magic V for $6.49 and it wanted to pay the entire $6.49 with my Amazon gift card at the purchase page (no promo applied), so I backed out.

I wasn't sure if that was just a because I had gift card credit (and it applied first), but it sounds like others are having similar issues with the Ubisoft promo.
Yes, if you don't get it by tomorrow morning let Tony know.
Thank you kind Sirs. With my question answered I'm out of here- looks like it's about to get ugly.
Yep give it a bit to flow through, I literally just kicked it off, and I'm 30K in the air so it might take a hot second to flow through our system.

Cheers,

ok, ill give it some time, thanks

My EA code doesnt seem to be working...tried with 3 different games (all well over $5) and it doesn't apply the $5 promotional credit as it should. Was the EA promotion pulled early?

EDIT: Seems others having the same issue too
I just got the 2K email, now need to think what to get lol

It seems that EA promo credit was deleted from the system or something, me and 2 friends don't have it working anymore but THQ and UBI work fine.
It is not a big issue cuz there is nothing interesting in EA list but just wanted Tony to know
Tony , i didnt hear an answer so i kindly re-ask, can we get a price match on Settlers 7 to the DVD version (6 bucks) ? would be very cool ^^

Again, apologies for all the back and forth about this. My response was in no way directed at an individual, rather it was a response and explanation for what was going on. In retrospect, my response should have been "nope". I've stated multiple times in multiple places that there wasn't any ill will felt on my end.

I'm not sure what else to say though in response to the accusation that "So he made the decision (as he claims) to cost Amazon potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars because of a few whiners? I'm not buying that, or the statment that they were scrubbed for market research."

I will tell you that the net of this conversation is that I will be much more careful in my responses since they are not taken at face value, something which I regret given the massive amount of time I spend here.

Again, no malice, but if I can't be honest with you guys without illiciting this kind of negative reaction I just won't be.

I'd like to end with an ask for resolution on your end. How can I help you feel less bad about this situation?

Cheers,
Tony

Quick question

Wife got me Dark Souls PS3 for Christmas... any reason to purchase it on PC during this sale? Kinda curious if modding and such make it worth the $15 investment.
Tony,

Mafia (the original one) http://www.amazon.com/2K-Games-4104..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1DHRTBZ3ZET2HQY2Y05T is listed in the 2k promotion but the game isn't on Steam anymore. Is there a way you could please verify if the steam keys would still work there?

btw - for others who may be interested, apparently this game is being pulled from other services as well so assuming the key still works, this may be one of the last chances to get the original.
I regret that I didn't buy it on sale for like $2.50 when it was available on Steam. Unfortunately $9.99 doesn't seem like a good price point for a game of this age. And it shocks me I didn't see any Mafia II deep discount promotion this holiday sale.
Looks like 2K promo coupons are being delivered, just received mine. Be patient if yours isn't there yet, you can't use them until tomorrow anyway.

Batches still going out. If you haven't gotten it by tomorrow morning let me know.

I assume that people that bought any 2K game or pack by the 24th will be the last to get confirmation email for the coupons?
Yeah I want to buy the EA pack and I'm not getting the discount either. I got two EA emails on the 24th.
I just talked to CS, if you hit them up they will sort you out.

This may have already been asked but from the 2K Super Strategy Pack do either of the Civ games run on Mac OS if you redeem them through Steam?

You'd need a 360 controller to play it as it's unplayable with keyboard+mouse. Other than that, there are mods to make it high res but other than that it's a no-frills port.

If there is a Mac version of a game in the Steam store, I believe you get it automatically if you own the PC version (and vice versa). You can browse the store page for the game to check if it is Mac compatible (I believe Civ 5 is).

You can get better framerates in certain areas plus better overall graphics if you mod and your PC is up to the task. Also, the PC version comes with DLC that costs $15 alone on consoles.

I think the 9.99+ restriction was for THQ only. Amazon's 2K page says:
"You may use your 2K $5 promo credit on any game download below from 2K over $5."

So, is the XCOM DLC worth $2? Definitely overpriced at $7, but I might do $2 for some extra soldier skins, haha.

Just wait for the next EA screw up where they put their entire store on sale for free to get Syndicate, seems to happen at least once a year. =0

SONOFA.

Typo on the landing page. Fixing now. As stated in the email, the credit is good on stuff $9.99 and above, 1 per customer per publisher.
