To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.

I see big mother truckers everywhere clearenced. And since I know I enjoy arcade style racers, I'm tempted to get it. But the rational side of me knows if it's in clearence stock this widely at such high numbers it must be total crap. (Is it?)

You could always use it as a coaster or to level a table.. yeah the game is bad....

Cold Fear for PS2? sorry they don't have it.

besides everytime i check my BB and other BB locations, their PS2 frontlane selection is kinda crappy. most of them are like $9.99. and the only worth picking would be MGS3: Snake Eater (ps2) for $9.99. the rest are dull. i dunno if they ever get re-stocked, coz they're usually the same titles everytime i visit BB.

Victorious Boxer 9.99

MediEvil Resurrection 9.99

(MediEvil was mentioned at 4.99 near the beginning of this thread in March, but never saw one until recently for frontlane 10 bucks. Would this be a keeper? Reviews are mixed about it being fun, but screwed a bit by a shoddy camera. The mini games are supposed to be the reason for replayability though.)

Out of curiousity, has anyone else seen either "God Hand" (PS2) or "Tales Of The Abyss" (PS2) in a Best Buy front row display?

I found both of these in a $9.99 front row display, but they didn't have the $9.99 stickers on them, so they rang up as the normal full price. Therefore, they tried to sell me "Tales Of The Abyss" for $39.99, stating that "someone must have put it in the wrong place." After showing them that they had no other copies anywhere in the store, nor a place for it amongst the other PS2 games with a marked price of $39.99, and watching the department supervisor stand there and shake his head while I pushed for the $9.99 price, they offered to sell it to me for $19.99.

Best Buy has really gone downhill over the years.

I'm all for getting stuff cheap, but seriously, the frontlane area is often a dumping place for people who decide they don't want a game after bringing it up to the register. If it isn't tagged with the $9.99 frontlane UPC (UNDER the security case) then it isn't a front lane game no matter where you find it.

Actually, most frontlane games don't have security cases so if the Abyss did and it was sitting there it was clearly misplaced. Now if it didn't have the security case and was stacked in with the rest of the games then you had a small case to make - $19.99 would have been a great price for Abyss by the way.

Hey, that's another argument for sticking those games IN THE GAME SECTION!

I hate sitting there going through those while people walk past me.

if you see something odd, even at the frontlane, ask for price check. before hitting checkout always ask for any associate for price check.

always...and i mean ALWAYS ask for price check. i wouldn't even waste my time arguing even if i saw some Gears of War misplaced at the frontlane box that has $4.99 plastered on it.

You definitely lucked out, because Tales of the Abyss is NOT a front row game. You ran into a very lenient manager, because you weren't in right in this case.
The term front row comes from what you see on your receipt for these games. If you see anything other then Front Row as the name of the item on your receipt, it is NOT a front row game.
I think this bears adding to the OP, not that anyone will ever read it.

Also, this particular Best Buy has never carried "TOTA", so I was surprised to see it suddenly appear at the BACK of the front row display (same with "God Hand" -- which is an amazing game, by the way). Since I only know of a couple stores in the Dallas area that still carry "TOTA", I pretty much decided to buy it regardless. The $19.99 price was just a bonus. (I thought about using an expired, copied GamePro coupon, but I decided that that might be pushing it a bit. :D)

I really liked Medievil on the Playstation, but I read they didnt fix the camera annoyances for the PSP, so I didnt bother with it on that system.

Didn't see these games listed on the front page...

The BB in Brea, CA restocked their frontrow games, except these games were in the racks along with the normal games. They did however have the 9.99 white sticker and the white UPC sticker on the back. There were additions across all the systems... from what I can remember about 10-15 titles not listed on the first post.

From what I can remember:

Arc The Lad, Clock Tower 3, Siren for the PS2 (all were 9.99)

went to my local best buy heres what i found:

just cause xbox $5
resovoir dogs xbox $5
Hulk Ultimate destruction xbox $9.99
LOTR Tactics PSP $9.99
Urban chaos xbox $9.99 (they had 4 copies let)
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater ps2 $9.99
NeoPets PSP $9.99
Ape escape Academy PSP $9.99

looked for ratchet and clank but no luck.....

While not a Front Row game, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 (PSP) is $14.99 on BB's website, not bad for $9.99 if the old coupon works. Still no sight of coupons for August?
what are the chances of getting a cashier not to notice the expiration date?
Fairly high. I haven't had a problem yet. In a couple of cases they have noticed it, but I just said something like "oh yeah, they told me it would still work". In general they will go along with that - if it scans and works automatically then they generally go with it. Once the code stops working, of course, it will become nearly impossible.

I actually had more trouble a few months back when the coupons were current than I have had recently. A couple of the Best Buys near me went through a little spat of not accepting them at all, regardless of the date. But retail job turnover is a wonderful thing and the people who rejected them no longer seem to be around .

A side note - the fact that the coupons still work in the system makes me think there's an August set out there. We need someone to come through with a GamePro scan if that is the case. It always helps to have the most current ones (plus we can push those into September then, hopefully).

Damnit... Everytime I think I am done with original xbox games, a new one pops up on this list worth getting. Case in point being Hitman. At 4.99 I cannot pass on it. So far I have gotten Urban Chaos, Bible (dont ask), Res. Dogs, Demon Stone, Hulk, and Painkiller. All these in plentiful supply in the Charlotte NC area if you are wondering.
Not a front row game, but got Manager's Special (30% off) for Call of Duty 3 (PS2) at 14.99
Please keep these non related posts out of here, as all it does is confuse people and make it harder to keep track of actual prices. This thread is already filled to the brim with junk posts as it is, and this has nothing to do with front row games.
could someone post a link with the bb/gamepro coupons please
Did you even try to read the OP? I even added big pictures for those that are illiterate.

OP Updated with a few new games.

Whoa,

Nice find with Painkiller. Somebody cleaned out my BB..Urban chaos, Hitman, Just cause..all gone.

EDit:

Forgot a new addition..Cold Fear XBox was $4.99 also..I didnt see it in the OP..

I saw the following at the Buckhead BB in Atlanta:

XBOX Matrix Path of Neo 4.99
XBOX Men of Valor 4.99
XBOX Urban Chaos 4.99

PS2 Star Wars Starfighter 9.99
PS2 KillSwitch 9.99
PS2 SOCOM 3 9.99

DS Madden 2005

I got one UC leaving two behind, there were three Starfighters, and there were SOCOM 3s in the regular stock and two frontlane versions in the cheap game area where they toss frontlane games so don't forget the white sticker.

I can also confirm the report of:

PS2 Red Dead Revolver 9.99

Cold Fear must have gone through a price drop. I remember getting it early this year for $9.99 (at Sears, but it was still a "front row" game with the big white sticker....)

I also forgot to mention but I saw Seek & Destroy (PS2) for $4.99 as a front row game (had the price sticker on the case). I was going to get that as well, even though I had already purchased it.

more related to the coupons than the games but I tried to use the $5 coupon on accessories today and it rang up as "$5 off any PS3 accessory" and it had a value of $0.00 so I guess some of the coupons don't work anymore.

not that I'm not going back in later today when I have more time to bitch at a manager. :)

That's not a "junk post." He clearly stated it is not a front row game, but a manager's special, and was found in a Best Buy. That won't confuse anyone paying attention. I'll take this over people who start new threads for every single-game YMMV deal that bury all the good store-specific threads.

How is a post completely unrelated to the OP not a junk post? As you even state, there is a thread already started for that. It doesn't belong here. This thread is filled with junk as is it, and people posting deals with they know have nothing to do with this certainly doesn't help make it easier to read and keep updated.

Very early in this thread someone mentioned Dark Cloud 2 (PS2) as front row for $9.99, has anyone seen the title or can confirm that?

Thanks

I was the one who purchased it. I found it in their rack of $9.99 games. I was surprised that they even had the game.

Ah the must of found some in the warehouse and sent them out to the stores and they tossed it in the regular game section.. Im assuming you got lucky then and it's not a FR game...

Metal Gear Acid 2 I think is $14.99 at Fry's stores too if you have one near you. Plenty of copies at the two Fry's I was at if you don't feel like rummaging through the FR games

Yup, I was planning on buying it on-line. It wasn't at the front area but it did have the front lane upc sticker.

Then it WAS a front row game. The location really doesn't matter anymore. It's the sticker that makes it a front row game.
Has anyone else seen it stickered?

i think i've seen it for $5, but not at fry's.

visited another BB tonight, and some pleasurable sight. (was looking at some associate chick with nice as... ehem... where was I?)

:xbox:
Rainbow Six 3 - $4.99
Hitman: Contracts - $4.99
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin - $4.99

I purchased all of course, what I'm missing now is Hitman: Blood Money. and my hitman trilogy will now be complete. :applause:

So no one else has seen Dynasty Warriors Vol. 2 (PSP) in the front lane display? I picked one up for $9.99 a few weeks ago, then promptly started seeing pristine copies being traded in to the Gamestops in the area around that time (likely meaning they were flipped). Anyone else see this game in the front lane display or is this one of those regional occurrences? By regional I mean that I have yet to see a Yakuza, R&C: Size Matters, or Sega Genesis Collection (PSP) in the front lane display of the 10 or so Best Buys I have visited, while they seem to be more common in other areas.

If your talking about the BB on Imperial and Harbor. That's Fullerton BB not Brea. I don't think there is a Brea BB.
Don't know if it's front row or not, but I saw Harvest Moon DS for $9.99 yesterday
It's not. That's from the clearance earlier this year.
It's very easy to figure out of it the game is front row or not. Look at the handy guide in the OP.

They havent refreshed the shipper's displays here in Richmond for almost 2 months. Just that crappy 1st assortment sitting around. I have given up on the new stuff.
