For those that were speculating, I can confirm that the program will be starting up again on 7/15/2012 and running until 8/11/2012. Just like last time it will be good for ANY blu ray 9.99 and up.

There was a note in the terms of this promotion that this time around if you visit the best buy mobile dept in the first week and do a free upgrade check for your cell phone account, it will entitle you to one trade and save coupon for the $5 off a blu.

Now, here are some commonly asked questions.

1. How does this work?

Basically, you bring in a DVD to Customer Service and they will give you a $5 off Blu-Ray coupon. Pretty simple.

2. Can you use it on any Blu-Ray?

Only on Blu-Rays $9.99 and up. Previously, music Blu-Rays have been excluded, but everything else is game.

3. Is there a limit of coupons you can receive?

5 per day seems to be the limit.

4. When does the coupons expire?

Last day of the promotion (8/11).

5. Do multiple disc DVDs = multiple coupons?

No. If you trade in a TV show season boxset = 1 coupon, not 3 or 4.

6. Can I trade in ANY DVD?

Naturally, they won't accept DVD-R/RW's nor will they accept pornos. So, no trading in Wii Like 2 fuck Part 3.

7. Can this be applied to past orders?

No. At most you can do a return/rebuy, but you would have to pay the current price so it may not be worth it.

8. Do I get the coupon back if I return the Blu-Ray I used a coupon on?

YMMV. Rule of thumb, be sure you are content with what you're getting before you use a coupon on it.

9. Do the DVDs I trade have to have the actual artwork and any inserts?

YMMV, but unless you get a real douche at CS, most won't care as long as it's in a case. (Generic DVD case will do)

10. I'm low on DVDs, any suggestions?

Dollar stores and places like Big Lots will occasionally carry $1 DVDs that you can get to trade in to Best Buy. Garage sales work as well if you can find one that is selling DVDs on the cheap.

11. Do coupons stack?

Nope. 1 coupon = 1 Blu-Ray purchase. Of course you can use multiple coupons in one transaction if you are purchasing the same amount of Blus.
Hey guys, how do you get the $10 savings if you purchase more than $50 worth of movies together with this trade and save deal?
I don't think you can, unless you do a return/rebuy which makes things quite messy for the Best Buy employee.

What happens if you try to return the BluRay that you've got for $4.99 (9.99 - $5 coupon). Do they give back your old DVD or do they give you a gift card worth $5?

Best Buy has two versions of MI4: Ghost Protocol. One is for 2 discs version and the other is the 3 discs version. My store only has the 3 discs version left but it isn't ringing up as 9.99.

Anyone knows what's on the 3rd disc (Best Buy exclusive)?

I don't think anyone that I recall did this. I believe the coupon is for instore purchases only.
Tempted to get the BATMAN movies and the ICE AGE for my daughter to see it. Not sure if she has the desire to see it though.....is it 5 year old appropriate?
I'd just buy Ice Age (#1) to try as at 5 the humor may be too mature...
you on the other hand, might enjoy it...

For MI: Ghost Protocol, if you redeem the digital copy at Amazon.com you will get $14.99 Amazon Instant Video credit added to your account.

So after having a terrible experience with this promotion last time it occurred, I manned up and decided to try this again. The employees were different this time and pretty much knew what to do. I say pretty much because the CSR guy thought I was trading in video games at first plus they had people in line facing the entrance instead of the customer service counter.

I picked up Batman Begins and Dark Knight steelbook editions for $5 each. Not only did the guy not look at the DVD's inside, but he didn't know the sets were that inexpensive.

Now I have an extra copy of Dark Knight on Blu Ray. I don't know what to do with it.

I noticed that as well. Plus the code still works in UV. So you can get $15 amazon credit and the copy in UV. Not sure if you can get it in iTunes/WMP as well, don't really know, never tried it.

On the subject of RETURNS:

I want to get a blu as a gift for someone. If they decide they dont want it and just a refund, will they get the full $15 the movie was before coupon? Or will they get the $10 I paid after coupon (and maybe another coupon to use tmmv)?

I don't know how they do returns without a receipt(to maybe get full refund),but with receipt i'd have to think they'll only get what you paid.

fucking nightmare at best buy tonight. Spend 1 hour at customer service and they couldn't even get the upgrade and save to work correctly. I'd give more detail but I'm fucking exhausted. I'll be back later.

Thats ridiculous, all they have to do is look at your dvd's in the cases, and give you the same amount of coupons.I'd be pissed too, sorry to hear.

Exactly...unless you have Peter Griffin doing CS. That was exactly my experience....opened my 5 cases to check for DVD's and handed me 5 coupons. It is different at every store though. One I went to yesterday demanded that I keep the coupons stapled to the trade-in receipt. Today all I got were coupons.

Picked up five more today:

Boondock Saints 10th Anniversary edition
Hall Pass
Ice Age 2
The Patriot
Goodfellas

I'm really regretting converting all of my BB credit to Amazon...

BTW - Once again not a single issue. Girl at this store, just like the one last night, didn't even open the cases to check for discs. Typed in the promo, printed the receipt and handed me five coupons and I was on my merry way.

traded in 5 and used 4 of the coupons..MI Ghost, Gettysburg, Stiptease for $5, Smokey and the Bandit for $7.99. debating over Blade, Am Graffiti, THe sting..and a few others.
What is the difference between the two versions of MI: Ghost Protocol at Best Buy? Either one will come with the amazon code right?
The Best Buy "exclusive" (for now) version comes with another disc with the special features.

BTW, the exclusive version of MI:GP is NOT on sale - tried it Sunday, and it rang up full price.

I'm obviously missing something, but how do you activate the digital copy on Amazon?

Follow the instructions on the included paper for digital copies and you'll see an option for amazon.

Props to Saix_XIII for giving me the heads up on this promotion. I went into my local BB today and literally had the best experience I've ever had there. Usually they aren't so bright, friendly, or helpful at this store.

Grabbed 8 flicks after dumping off some real stinkers. I turned in some Hallmark movie from my mother-in-law, 2 flicks from a grocery store clearance bin, 3 from Blockbuster going out of business, and one from a cereal box. I was able to turn in slim cases and generic box art found online and printed at home but as always YMMV with that.

Anyways, a great trip overall. I was able to score all the titles I wanted and a few more as well. Plus some movie cash as well. I'll have to hold myself back from scrounging around for a return trip.

Feel free to pay me back with MSP or UV codes I don't have already ;)

Glad I could help.
I apologize if this has already been mentioned as I have not read the whole thread... I just found that Firefly: The Complete Series Bluray is now $19.99 at BB, so that would make it $14.99 after Trade-In Promo!
Thank you greatly for this! Stopping in tomorrow to pick that up.

It may have stille been $62.99 when you went. I checked online Sunday afternoon, after all of the prices changed for the week, and it was still $62.99, It must have changed fairly recently.

Went yesterday and got Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Clash of the Titans, and Black Hawk Down for $5 each, plus Paranormal Activity 3 for $8. So glad that both batmans and Clash of the Titans came with $5 movie coupons for The Dark Knight Rises, get to see the Imax for free and then some now.

Forgive me if I'm misinterpreting what you posted, and forgive me as well if I'm a debbie downer, but the $5 Movie cash codes to TDKR do not stack with one another, so it would be just $5 off each individual ticket to the IMAX screening.

They don't stack. I think he just wanted to make the deal sound a lot better than it really was, but sometimes it doesn't work out. ^__^
I have a different coupon worth $12, and so with a $5 it pays for it, I'm not stacking the $5 coupons.
That was a little detail that wasn't anything close to clear from your post. Makes more sense now.

For what it is worth I called my local theater and they said I can use two of the $5 off TDKR vouchers to get $10 off a ticket.

I suppose it depends on the theater, but from what they said it acts as a form of payment and just like any other form of payment you can apply multiple ones to a purchase (for example using a gift card and/or cash and/or a credit/debit card for 1 purchase)

Dunno when they added them, but here's a few more blus that are showing $9.99 on the website. None of these were there early Sunday morning when I made that $9.99 Blus list.

The Time Travelers Wife
The Postman
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Creepshow
2010: The Year We Make Contact
17 Again
Big
Yes Man
The Mask
Dumb and Dumber
Mr Magoriums Wonder Imporium
August Rush
The Lake House
Sleepers
The Sandlot
Pleasantville

Went in and got a coupon by checking eligibility for a cell phone upgrade. Took less than 2 minutes. The coupons are different too and there's no receipt required with it.

Thanks for the $9.99 list.

Now to actually see if some of these are still at my local store, if not, I have some 3D Blu-Rays to pick up for my daughters.

Sucks that both Robin Hood Men in Tights and Enemy at the Gates aren't in-store, as far as i can tell. Those are my top 2 wanted for this deal.

Yes! In for Sandlot, Dumb and Dumber and Big

I'm considering going blind buy on Battlestar Galactica. Seems like the best possible deal here. I see everyone mentioning shopkick, so I downloaded it, but it looks like it will take a long time to earn any rewards. Think I may bite on this anyway with enough encouragement.

Yeah the phone upgrade check is another coupon, so you can do 6 in one trip on top of the 5 from DVDs. Not sure if its mentioned. I just did it like 30 minutes ago. The guy even rang up my stuff after checking it.

Grabbed all 3 Ice Age movies, 6 Batman steelbooks (3 of each), 2 Firefly Complete Series, and Inception (w/movie cash). I bought 6 Batmans cause I bought 4 last week and returned the ones I bought for 10. Even used the 10 instore pickup code from that order on the ones I just bought.
