For those that were speculating, I can confirm that the program will be starting up again on 7/15/2012 and running until 8/11/2012. Just like last time it will be good for ANY blu ray 9.99 and up.

There was a note in the terms of this promotion that this time around if you visit the best buy mobile dept in the first week and do a free upgrade check for your cell phone account, it will entitle you to one trade and save coupon for the $5 off a blu.

Now, here are some commonly asked questions.

1. How does this work?

Basically, you bring in a DVD to Customer Service and they will give you a $5 off Blu-Ray coupon. Pretty simple.

2. Can you use it on any Blu-Ray?

Only on Blu-Rays $9.99 and up. Previously, music Blu-Rays have been excluded, but everything else is game.

3. Is there a limit of coupons you can receive?

5 per day seems to be the limit.

4. When does the coupons expire?

Last day of the promotion (8/11).

5. Do multiple disc DVDs = multiple coupons?

No. If you trade in a TV show season boxset = 1 coupon, not 3 or 4.

6. Can I trade in ANY DVD?

Naturally, they won't accept DVD-R/RW's nor will they accept pornos. So, no trading in Wii Like 2 fuck Part 3.

7. Can this be applied to past orders?

No. At most you can do a return/rebuy, but you would have to pay the current price so it may not be worth it.

8. Do I get the coupon back if I return the Blu-Ray I used a coupon on?

YMMV. Rule of thumb, be sure you are content with what you're getting before you use a coupon on it.

9. Do the DVDs I trade have to have the actual artwork and any inserts?

YMMV, but unless you get a real douche at CS, most won't care as long as it's in a case. (Generic DVD case will do)

10. I'm low on DVDs, any suggestions?

Dollar stores and places like Big Lots will occasionally carry $1 DVDs that you can get to trade in to Best Buy. Garage sales work as well if you can find one that is selling DVDs on the cheap.

11. Do coupons stack?

Nope. 1 coupon = 1 Blu-Ray purchase. Of course you can use multiple coupons in one transaction if you are purchasing the same amount of Blus.

Damn, that is pretty crazy about the SSN. I've done it at 3 BB's and they never asked me for my SSN. Maybe it depends on what state your live in or your store's policy or something.
 
Ah they always ask for last 4 SSN of the account holder (family plan) when I do anything dealing with cellphones.

I wonder if I can do a phone upgrade check more then once though
=)
 
Has anyone seen any good deals on WWE Blu Rays? I was hoping for something in the advertisement since they advertised The Undertaker: The Streak disc.

Otherwise, nothing jumps out at me this week although I would like to check out Firefly sometime.

Have not seen many sales on these elsewhere, but I did stop by a few Walmart locations last week, and one of them had a wide variety of WWE Blus (even the newer ones) thrown in the $7.xx Bluray bin towards the front of the electronics.

Of the ones I had visited, this was the only location that had done this though, so YMMV on finding them at that price.

I did it twice, once each at two seperate stores. When they asked me at the second store if I wanted to check for an upgrade, I figured why not try since people are asking in this thread. It worked without a problem.
 
I didnt check the last time I was at BB but how long will these movies be at $10? Mostly like Batman Begins, MI4 and Matrix.
 
The tricky thing about how long some titles will be 9.99, is that, some will go back to full price in a week or so, AND others will drop to 7.99 (thus making them not eligible for the next time BB has this promotion). If you find a movie you've been wanting, and it's at 9.99, just get it. If you can't find it, just have your BB store order it for you (ship to store). When you pick it up, use a coupon.

I tried as well, but the SSN request turned me away A)the plan is under my fathers B) that is a little sketchy. They did say it was a verizon thing though and one showed me the monitor (from my two attempts).

I was also gonna try it more than once (probably 4x as i have no dvds to trade from the last promo and no dollar trees)

its just I probably wont go to Best Buy til tomorrow. Not sure if they will change the prices with the ad but we shall see.

I was actually able to get them to price match Target at 9.99 for "A Very Harold&Kumar Christmas. So 4.99 after coupon.
Got a bunch this week. I'm hoping the MI Trilogy is still on sale tomorrow for 9.99. If I had known about it, I would have picked it up today.
 
was the MI trilogy mentioned in the thread before today? I didn't see it till just now. Store closes in 10 min and it isnt at a store I could get to in time. I will check tomorrow AM

is it worth it to go to a Private Event tomorrow for extra pts. i have one U&S coupon left to use...maybe i can find 1 more dvd to trade and do the cel phone thing to get another coupon

Anyone recommend Camelot? Im a sucker for those shows but I heard it ends on a cliffhanger and than it got canceled. Plus I think Eva Green is nude. A major +!

I don't plan on seeing it until well after the expiration date of 8/5 and when i do it will be in a locally owned cinema that does not participate in the promotion.

Im not as nice as JP73 cause its about 30 minutes to and from the nearest BB, but I have 3 Dark Knight Rises codes from Sherlock Holmes and Matrix movies. I have no use for them since I already saw the movie. If anyone wants them, id like $2 a piece Paypal.

Not a bad haul 19 Blu Rays and i spent under 100 dollars. Returned the 2 batman movies I had receipts for, got 30 dollars in movie cash, 3 uv/vudu codes I can trade, and 5 DC codes I can try to sell.
 
I was grabbing movies and I noticed that gettysburg was listed on sale as 2 disc for $9.99. But the $9.99 version is only 1 disc. I pointed it out to CS and she reduced the $29.99 2 disc digibook version to 9.99. She could not do the $5 off for trade and save, but I am happy with that fr $10.

I think the price for $9.99 gettysburg goes back up today, but it might be worth a look.

I think I picked up about 30 movies this week with trade & save and probably another 15 from frys.

I did get BB to do trade and save and $3 universal coupon on babe, so that one was $1.99.

How long before I can add a signature? I would love to be able to put my meager blu ray collection I have entered at DVD Affictionado as a signature. i like it except there are a surprising amount of movie editions not listed. I had to submit the one disc Hulk blu ray, and there are a few others I dont think I have the absolute correct version of.

Looking through the ads, even though I have spent all the money I can really afford, somehow I'm gonna have to scrape up another 15. That Firefly is incredibly priced at 19.99 and I have to get it. The regular price of 60-70 dollars is outrageous. I may bring in the Serenity DVD to get it. LOL
 
Just as expected, several 9.99's have gone back up. But some haven't.
Bummed that I missed out on the MI Trilogy. I guess I'll have to keep my HD-DVD's for now.
Quite surprised that Firefly stayed at 19.99. Get it now if you want it.

Did anybody else notice, In the add for this week, the copy of Inception that they have for 4.99 (after coupon), is the Steel-book version? At least it's the cover art of the steel-book version.

Here's my honest question: why would anyone want that version? Just because it's a steelbook? It's the inferior version content-wise to the regular blu-ray.

Yeah they should've just made them both $9.99 last week,would've been alot less confusion.I got the regular version last week,i'm ok with that,i don't usually watch all the bonus features anyway.
