For those that were speculating, I can confirm that the program will be starting up again on 7/15/2012 and running until 8/11/2012. Just like last time it will be good for ANY blu ray 9.99 and up.

There was a note in the terms of this promotion that this time around if you visit the best buy mobile dept in the first week and do a free upgrade check for your cell phone account, it will entitle you to one trade and save coupon for the $5 off a blu.

Now, here are some commonly asked questions.

1. How does this work?

Basically, you bring in a DVD to Customer Service and they will give you a $5 off Blu-Ray coupon. Pretty simple.

2. Can you use it on any Blu-Ray?

Only on Blu-Rays $9.99 and up. Previously, music Blu-Rays have been excluded, but everything else is game.

3. Is there a limit of coupons you can receive?

5 per day seems to be the limit.

4. When does the coupons expire?

Last day of the promotion (8/11).

5. Do multiple disc DVDs = multiple coupons?

No. If you trade in a TV show season boxset = 1 coupon, not 3 or 4.

6. Can I trade in ANY DVD?

Naturally, they won't accept DVD-R/RW's nor will they accept pornos. So, no trading in Wii Like 2 fuck Part 3.

7. Can this be applied to past orders?

No. At most you can do a return/rebuy, but you would have to pay the current price so it may not be worth it.

8. Do I get the coupon back if I return the Blu-Ray I used a coupon on?

YMMV. Rule of thumb, be sure you are content with what you're getting before you use a coupon on it.

9. Do the DVDs I trade have to have the actual artwork and any inserts?

YMMV, but unless you get a real douche at CS, most won't care as long as it's in a case. (Generic DVD case will do)

10. I'm low on DVDs, any suggestions?

Dollar stores and places like Big Lots will occasionally carry $1 DVDs that you can get to trade in to Best Buy. Garage sales work as well if you can find one that is selling DVDs on the cheap.

11. Do coupons stack?

Nope. 1 coupon = 1 Blu-Ray purchase. Of course you can use multiple coupons in one transaction if you are purchasing the same amount of Blus.

What's really obnoxious is that bestbuy.com always showed the Ice Age movies for $14.99 (except for the newest one for some reason...) I'm still trying to track down the first two. I called my closest store yesterday, and they said they had a bunch of the first one, but none of the second. I really didn't feel like going out into traffic for one movie. So, I figured if they were still $9.99 this week, I'd try again. If anybody happens to be in Best Buy and notices if they are, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll just call and keep checking at some point this week.

Was just there and they're still priced at $9.99. My local store had about 5 copies of each.
 
While I was in the store today picking up some games I also picked up Battlestar Galactica season 3 (last time I was there the associate couldn't find the two copies they had in-stock) and Tinman. Tinman was only 4.99 after the coupon and I had always been interested in seeing it.

I'm still looking for Insomnia. Two stores, one near me and one near my mothers house, didn't have it, but I might stop in at another one on Tuesday. If I do and it comes with the code I'll probably give that one away too. Like i said earlier, I don't plan on going to see it until well after the expiration date and even then it will be at a small locally owned Cinema. So I have no use for the code

Success! I was able to get the Inception steelbook for 5 bucks. They had to price adjust since they messed up in the weekly ad then took 5 off for U&S coupon.
 
One thing i saw at 2 different stores the 3 disc exclusive MI:GP all the slipcovers were coming apart,almost like they werent glued correctly?Didnt know if anybody else noticed this.

Thanks for confirming this. At least that gives me some hope of being able to try again this week. Just wish I knew when their shipments came in. All the guy would tell me was that they get shipments "every week".

We've mentioned this before.. it's one disc, even though the back of the steelbook says it has a special features disc. If you e-mail WB, they will mail you the special features disc.

The other issue is with Sucker Punch. Some people get the theatrical cut, some people get the extended cut.

There were a bunch of Warner/New Line catalog titles that came out for the first time two weeks ago like Blade II, Frequency, Disclosure, A Perfect Murder, etc. Best Buy even had a cardboard stand devoted to them at my local store. They were on sale for $9.99 the first two weeks of release, but now they're back to $14.99.

Did any prices go down besides Inception? I know a lot of people were hoping for some more great deals this week.

I see that Austin Powers 1 went up to $12.99. I was going to buy the complete trilogy, but my CAG brain won't let me do that knowing it was $2.99 less last week.

Yup, I bought Blade II, Spawn, and Mean streets off of that cardboard display.

Wait, what? I got the Sucker Punch Blu that says it has both on it. You saying it doesnt?

And Damn it! I forgot today was sunday and I missed out on Camelot. I dont mind it not following the true source. I doubt we ever will see that :lol:

got the collectors version of Close encounters for 4.99. They only had that version, and it was in the 9.99 section, so they let me have it for 9.99 (4.99 after coupon). Not bad.

went to the private event sale last night. at first they said customer service closed so no trade ins, then a few min later they said i could. so i traded in 4 more and had a coupon from the other day. figured for double pts i might as well, as well as participating in a scavener hunt for chance for a gc, which i didnt win. i picked up Blade, Raging Bull,Human Planet, Close Encounters, AM Graffiti $45.53
 
SO far this sale, picked up:

Gonna pick up 3 disc MI:GP today, I think and probably something else to get 2 more movies to turn in to Movie stop to preorder Avengers for free with. I figure every time I do that, it only costs me $10 total for any BR new release that I want. That's not a bad deal. I just clear off the digital copy and flip it back to them for $14 in credit.

My store doesn't want to adjust because they said only the version in the plastic case is on sale despite what's in the picture of the ad.

My friend who got his plastic version has 3 discs. 2 Blurays + 1 DVD.

I've asked this question earlier but they say no because it takes a lot of price adjustment and because it is has to be online purchase-and-collect at store, when you try to return-&-rebuy, the system would void out your $10 code anyway.

Same for me. I actually returned my 2 disc copy and got the 3 disc BBY exclusive, along with the 3 Ice Age movies (was tempted to get the 3D combo pack for IA3 DotD for $14.99 AC but just went with the 3 regular combo packs) on Saturday. Both the 2 disc slipcover and the 3 disc slipcover were coming apart, but I have strong glue/adhesives to fix that.

The Best Buy in Hollywood had a TON of each of the IA movies, but only 2 copies of the BBY exclusive 3 disc MI3 GP at all - none of the $9.99 version. They price adjusted the exclusive down for me so $4.99 out the door on each of those 4. Got a bunch of other great deals thanks to this thread and a few others as well, now I just need to find the time to enjoy some of it.

It would be an easy fix with some glue i guess,must've just been a factory mistake.Yeah thats the tricky part,finding time to watch all the movies and play all the games we keep finding on sale :cool:
 
So all three Ice Age movies still $9.99 and store have done re-stocks? I am missing the first movie my store in my area were out of that one the first day of the sale last week.
