Only thing I'm looking forward to is Nier, hopefully that will go the way of FF13. Still though the deals are kinda meh, I mean all the coupons are for games I picked up cheaper at target. Plus arent most places trying to get rid of BL?
If you didn't catch any of the other sales, I do suggest BL for $10 though, still havent played GTA though.
Damn, $20 off Liberty City is an awesome deal. Already have it, but still a great deal. Thanks for posting homelessmatt.
Liberty City (PC) is on clearance for $9.48 at the Venice, FL Target.

2 questions

1) To the people who are getting Brutal Legend, are you getting the PS3 or XBOX360 version?

2) I heard negative reviews of Nier. What have other people heard? and what other game is it like?

thanks
Nothing for me. I'm surprised they don't have any sort of points bonus for buying Madden next week.
They do, 500 points with pre-order or purchase by 8/14/10. PS2, PSP, PS3, or 360.

I combined a blu-ray deal with this and walked out of the store pretty happy. Bought Serenity and Wanted on blu-ray for $20 which came with a free $15 gift card. Used the gift card to buy GTA. Total not including tax came to $25.

If Nier drops to $40 or goes on sale for $40, I might finally buy it. It looks like a weird RPG, but for $20 I'd give it a whirl.

Since Brutal Legend has been out for a while now, I wonder if we might see a sale on it within the next couple of weeks. I thought it was just a button masher/action title, but once I heard it had portions that were strategy based that turned me off playing it quick.

I am also thinking of Nier at $20. Seriously considering using GS to try it out just in case it does drop to $40 or below.

As far as Brutal Legend goes, I played it and like you, the strategy aspect turned me off. But for $10 new I am considering getting it again. $10 and under is usually an "impulse buy" price for any game I am remotely interested in.

Looks like nothing for me unless I can get GTA: Episodes for around $10. I already have for 360 but would double dip if I can get it cheap enough.

I'm in no way a fan of RTS games or heavy metal, but I really enjoyed the game. I even took the time to max out the achievements, which meant playing a whole bunch of online matches.

The RTS is really simple and there are only three or four battles in the single player(don't remember how many). Doublefine did a great job of streamlinig the controls for the console. If anything, just play it on easy so you can experience the world.

For me, the best part of the RTS is the fact that you can still control Eddie during the battles. So send off the troops and then move Eddie in to attack as well, only you still have direct control over your hack and slash moves for Eddie. Also remember to use the light beacon during the RTS battles. The rest of the game is the hack & slash open world.

Of course, I see why so many people were turned off by the game. RTS gamers see this as RTS for babies and non-RTS gamers don't want to give it a chance since it wasn't advertised as an RTS.

I enjoyed the game so much that I almost bought Starcraft to see if I can get into the genre. That feeling immediately went away once I watched a couple of gameplay vids. Those vids scared the $?#% out of me!

HAHA...I know what you mean. I'd love to play SC2 (never played the original), however I'd have no time for it anyways as I have quite a few games to catch up on & I'm working mad overtime (very thankful for this) this week.

As for not including the 360 GTA, that's been out longer, maybe that's why; they're trying to drum up some sales on a newer title.

Pretty lame set of coupons, though, overall. I might pick up Nier if it drops/is-on-sale to/for $40 before the coupon. Aside from that, though, a complete PASS for me on this.

I'm also adding my voice to those who will be more than a little upset if @gamer coupons are meant to replace rewardzone gamers club. At the very least, I suspect they will decrease the deals that we get. If there were going to be a set of coupons every month like those in the first issue, I think I might subscribe to it...even though I did only use one of them, with as many as there were, odds of ONE of them being good were rather high. Since they said in the future there would only be, what, 1-3 coupons, and the fact that I rarely get really *new* games, I could definitely see a whole subscription cycle where I didn't use a single damn one.

I hope it's just a case of not wanting to post the deals way ahead of time since I could definitely see sales declining on games that'll have coupons for them in a couple weeks...and frankly, it's perfectly reasonable for them to want to prevent it, and in fact I thought it was kind of stupid (though a kind of stupidity I enjoyed) for them to do it before, the way they were. I suppose we'll see in a couple weeks, though!

I hope Green Day Rock Band drops to $30. I would bite at $20 after coupon. GDRB was on sale for $40 when FF13 was $40.

Waiting to See if RB: Greenday hits $30 during the sale. If not I'll wait a few more months for the inevitable $20.

Nier, I want at $20.
I've been waiting over a month for BB to give me $20 certificate for my points. is that normal ?
You can go online to your account and print out your $20 certificate.

I just noticed that RZ gives you two points per dollar spent at B&N.com. Any way to claim points for something you bought a couple months ago?

It's about right. They wait until the return policy is done for the item you purchased before handing out points.

Guess you had to click through MyRZ to B&N.com before placing an order there. A lot of cashback/bonus points shopping works the same way.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the info, though.
This really needs to start being put in the OP IMO:

$5 Coupon
$10 Coupon
$20 Coupon

I know someone else listed these, but they weren't direct links to the coupon since you had to sign in using those. These are the bypass.
just copy and pasted them in the OP for everyone

Picked up Brutal Legend today. When I handed the cashier the coupon, she got really excited. She then proceeded to start fumbling with everything, mainly my change.

Thanks for posting, OP :)

I'm interested in Brutal Legend but not sure if I'd like it. I don't play RTS games so the moment I heard this was an RTS, I'm turned off.

Anyone here play through this game? Is it good?

Also, how's the ending? I hate dropping hours into a game with a stinky ending. No need for spoilers but any thoughts on it would be appreciated. :)

It is a action adventure game with RTS parts. But it is very basic RTS stuff so it shouldnt be an issue. As far as the ending goes the game actually ends it doesnt just set itself up for a sequel.

Played it at release. Only the big battles are RTS and it eases you into it so much that I didn't even consider it an RTS until about 1/2 of the way through. The rest is open world combat & exploration. I haven't played an RTS since the first warcraft, and it's definitely not a go-to genre for me, and yet I enjoyed this game.

If you like the 70's & 80's metal culture, or at least will find it entertaining, then it's worth a playthrough. Can't go wrong for $10.

Ending is fine. Story is a bit over the top, but what do you expect from a game that plays up metal so much.

Ozzy's character & role is hilarious though, one of the best parts of the game.

Cool. Should cut down everyone asking for coupon links.

When I see someone say they got a game it makes me think, "but where can you flip that to?" Seems more uncommon to see someone saying they got the game, especially multiples, because they WANTED it. Sheesh.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the prevailing culture here. It's getting as bad as SD, people who just want to make money off the games, even if it means making those who actually want to play it pay more for them. Everyone's so damn selfish.
