Picked up Psychonauts, the Atari compilation, and saw the other new assortment titles here in Va. Also picked up True Crime NYC out of morbid curiosity. I want to see if it actually works, unlike my Xbox version that crashes every 5 minutes.

I bought it for $5 about a year ago at Target. While TC1 works, TC2 has weird glitches --- like the guy's arm doesn't show up. Also, if you look on Amazon.com reviews, lots of peeps had issues with the PC version.

Wow, if a good laugh is worth $4 to you, try True Crime on your PC. I can barely get it to run on 1024 resolution, and this is on an AMD 64 3800 with an NVidia 7600 card. I know thats nothing to brag about, but point is I can run other modern games on higher resolutions perfectly fine. What a dog of a game.

It's a shame because it seems there is a decent game somewhere buried in all the awful code. Must have been really sloppy programming.

That's unfortunate. It is a decent game.

If you don't mind throwing good money after bad, you can always nab a PS2 version at CC on the cheap.
Then again, I got Bioshock Tues.
whoop! whoop! My heart skipped a beat for a second --- Bioshock at Big Lots!?!?! :)

BTW, still have not seen Flatout 2 at BL... this MUST be a myth. harhar

There is a wholesale store chain called Five and Below that stocks low price items (they have a website and store locator). Everything they carry costs $1 to $5, and the store here in Richmond stocks a small supply of PC games. Today I noticed they got a truckload of Act of War: Direct Action, Desperados 2, and a number of children's titles. And Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit for Xbox. All $5, all new and sealed.

Oh yeahm they also have DVDs. I picked up Big Lebowski widescreen recently for $5. Check it out if you have one in your town.

I saw Flatout 2 as well as Psychonauts. Also vanilla Starcraft.

Following is a list of titles I saw today in the latest $6 assortment:

Prince of Persia Two Thrones
Guild: Gold Edition
Tony Hawk Wasteland
Big Oil
Runaway
Commandos: Strrike Force
Nicktoons Winner's Cup Racing
Jetfighter 2015
Rollercoaster Tycoon Gold
Rogue Trooper
E.R.
Ice Age 2
Cabela African Safari

Mostly blech, I know. Does anyone know if Big Lots uses a date code on their UPC stickers? I get old and new game assortments mixed up sometimes, and a date code like Kay Bee Toys uses would be helpful.
Picked up Corvette for $6. Saw plenty of copies of NBA Live 06 for $4 in Milpitas.

BTW, has anyone REALLY seen "Flatout 2" at BL? I've seen MANY MANY MANY copies of "Flatout 1", but not the sequel.

Hordak
i got flatout 1 and 2 at a biglots outside of knoxville, tn... the one on clinton highway, i think. i'm heading back out there later checking for bad day LA... maybe psychonauts, i just got a copy for 10 bux from gogamer... but it's always nice to have a spare for friends (you don't want to know how many copies of the shogo/septerra core dual jewel i picked up when i saw i tat the dollar store, and i already had bothe games in retail box too, lol)

*sigh* i miss the days when the dollar store had software

yep we do use a date code. the last three digits on the label. if it's 017 it means january 2007. first two are the month and the last digit is the last number of the year.
one more thing i noticed today we also got a lot of 2packs of software ($6.00) in but i didn't check titles. i'll look on tuesday.
saw some of that today... a quick glance madit it look to be mostly crappy kids educational stuff.

found a copy of prince of persia two thrones, but hesitated to pick it up, couldn't find bad day LA which was what i was really looking for... i'll check a few more stores tomorrow.

also noticed that "Top secret: the cyper mission" is the EXACT same game as "traitors gate 2"...the text on the back of the box is word for word the same, and most of the pictures are the same... the "top secret" box is significantly lighter also... anyone know the story behind that one?

if anyone is ever looking for a game that they can't find at their big lots let me know. i can check the one i work at and the one across from where i live and i'll only charge price plus shipping.

i might have to take you up on that... i've got a few more that i'll check later this week first.

also, i'm gonna get a bunch of star stickers and put them on all the starforce games i've got. that way I remember not to install them until i have a machine i can afford to have be infected.

Nice! Thanks for pulling together this list. Also, without Flatout 2 on there, it proves that its existence at Big Lots is a myth!!! :D
Nice! Thanks for pulling together this list. Also, without Flatout 2 on there, it proves that its existence at Big Lots is a myth!!! :D
i can feel your frustration... I had to hit half a dozen different stores to find some of the stuff I was looking for... The problem with finding flatout 2 is that it WAS there, I found mine over a month back... and they don't re-order that stuff. his store does sound like one of the better stocked ones though, from what I've seen.

If I had found another copy I would have picked it up for you, but I've only seen it once. There is another couple stores a ways east of me... if I get out that way, i'll check them too.

ALSO, anyone looking for the "Double pack" games... some stores have them back in their electronics section, some up front with their games.

I've seen Flatout 2 multiple times at several different stores, and even bought it a copy. It's out there.

LOL! It's my bad sense of humor! I believe you guys when you say that it's our there, but to me, it's humorous that I've been to 5 Big Lots in my area over the course of a few months and have only seen Flatout 1 (MANY MANY COPIES), but never 2. :)

Of course, a part of me being a CAG is finding it at the lowest possible price (nevermind the gas used, for now.) So, thanks for the offer to find and ship it.

no kidding, i've spent at least as much on gas this week looking for games as i did on the games themselves.... but the hunt is half the fun of a good deal

Saw at my Big Lots:

Boiling Point (Nabbed)
Master of Orion 3
Matrix: Path of Neo
Spellforce 2 (Has Starforce or I would've bought. :( I've had bad luck with No-CDs actually removing the Starforce dependency, so I dunno.)
Jaws Unleashed

All $6
Only the European version of Spellforce 2 had Starforce, not the North American version.

Spellforce doesn't seem to be everyone's cup of tea, but I thought it was a lot of fun.

Props to gothamcentral for taking care of his fellow CAG'ers. Wish we could see this more often...

Also, gothamcentral, a HUGE thanks for compiling that list. When I update the master thread (ohh, sometime in the next year?? :) ), this will be a tremendous help.

no problem, glad i could help.

Does anyone know if you can easily get Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory's soundtrack from the PC game? I found out that my local Big Lots has a copy and while I don't want to play it, I would definitely get it if I could extract the soundtrack from it without much effort.

Well, I re-learned an old lesson: check the cheap DVDs Big Lots gets. Around 1 in 20 of the titles they carry is a gem. Today I found Bullitt for $4! It has widescreen and fullscreen and according to Amazon reviewers, the DVD transfer is really good. A great 60's flick...awesome car chases, and Steve McQueen.

:(

Yeah, if you like watching a Plane taxi to the terminal for like 10 min straight... sigh.

OT, I picked up Psychonauts, MoO 3, and Darwinia today :)

Can't get that one... well, not without some effort. But with much less effort, you can download the SC:CT soundtrack HERE. There is also a full 2+hour soundtrack torrent floating around. It has the songs in their entirety, as well as songs not included in the aforementioned link.

Apparently, there were some legal issues with that torrent, so it's fairly difficult to find anyone still seeding it...

Hah, I totally forgot about that footage... and if I'm not mistaken, there's a lot of wasted footage of the hospital at the beginning... you know, panning around the surgery room, getting close-ups of all the equipment... then McQueen's voice-overs start in...

But beyond that, once the action starts it's an OK movie...

Just when you thought they were done.

Picked up Path of Neo, El Matador & Boiling Point at Troy Big Lots in NY

Getting quite a collection going here!
Anything new from you guys? I didn't see anything new there last week.
Nope, nothing for a few weeks except the yellow box 2-pack jewel case games. Very few Big Lots received those, though.

Spotted a couple of new additions today:

Area 51 (can't remember if it was $4 or $6)
Luxor $4

I'm always on the lookout for cheap PC puzzle games and recently picked up from Big lots:

Collapse Crunch $4
Chainz 2: Relinked $4 - both from the makers of Luxor.

Looked like there had been a restock of Psychonauts, still $6. And for some reason I was thinking that Armed and Dangerous was starforced but it's not on the starforce list so I picked it up for $4. Really enjoyed that one on the xbox.

I finally found a Psychonauts at my local BL, hadn't been there in a while so I don't know whow long it'd been on the shelf. It was $4.

Those 2-jewel case packs have a huge variety of games in them. Some previously boxed and some new. There is no sense to the groupings either- I've seen the same games bundled with different 2nd games. Defintely something people will have to check out themselves.
