Who is "we", by the way? Do you work for a software liquidator, or for Big Lots? I was always curious as to what distributor Big Lots buys from.
I would think she works for the liquidator.

I do not work for Big Lots. I'm just a gamer who works in the warehouse of a software liquidator who supplies Big Lots.

We are working with Big Lots to try to have some more continuity on the software. When we do store visits, we find some stores have a good supply of gamer titles and others have almost none. We recently refocused our assortments lowering the number of kids and edutainment items and upping the number of gamer titles with particular focus on T amd M rated games. What we're wondering is how well the casual games will sell. We are seeing alot of these now. Most of them will be in the $ 4.00 assortment.

Thanks for going through the trouble!
You might be just what might spark life back into the thread if everything continues on the rise like you say

I just check with the warehouse manager and he says we don't have any left. I also spoke with the buyer who said he thinks that title was closed out a while ago and he doesn't think we will get any more.

Sorry.

I've picked up quite a few nice little PC gems from Big Lots. I'm going to go check out mine tonight if I can find anything new.

Keep the updates coming, PcGirl.

Wow, this is great. I will be hitting up the BLs in the area every weekend this month to see if the new shipment is in. I too have found some gems there. As well as cheap snax and drinx. You can't go wrong at BL!

We shipped them 11 times last year. Approximately 50,000 pieces per time. They will be a little dry now because they ususally skip December as they've been loaded up in November.

We however are not the only vendor to ship them Budget PC games. We do think though that we have a large part of their gaming business. We do not do applications. Somebody else sells BL that stuff.

PC Girl.:bouncy:

PcGirl - Just want to thank you for keeping us informed. I started this thread, but have become so busy that making monthly Big Lots runs to update the master list is very difficult.

But on the flip-side, the thread has sort of taken off on its own, without the updates (the last update was may of 2007 - 9 months ago!) People like you and a few others that share the information help keep the thread alive.

Much thanks again. And on a related note, I did happen to visit Big Lots earlier today; sadly, the game selections were pretty thin. I hope to see some of the new titles you previously mentioned...

Hi Guys,

The buyer over here asked me if expansions would sell in Big Lots. Typically we don't ship general merchandise merchants expansions as non-experienced customers buy them thinking they are the stand alone game. I told him that Big Lots racks may be fueled by CAGers.

Would expansions like RCT3 Wild and Soaked, Doom 3 and NWN Kingmaker sell @ $ 4.00???

PC Girl

... non-experienced customers buy them thinking they are the stand alone game.
I'm afraid the above statement is correct. Considering Big Lots clientele, I think they would see a lot of complaints about that. And I'd jump all over NWN Kingmaker for $4.

While us CAGers would love cheap expansions, I agree with oremites' assesment: too many customers would be confused and it would cause nothing but trouble for Big Lots.

(you can, however, ship any $4 expansion straight to my house :) )

I have to echo that statement. As much as I would love expansions, I don't think the general BL customer would understand that they would need the original game to play. They are already cheap ass buyers as it is! :) (CABers).

Not sure if it would be worth the time or money, but possibly a sticker saying requires full game to play. Otherwise, I'm not sure about your average big lots pc game buyer. I have yet to see another person besides me or one of my friends around the rack of pc games.

I think theres a Big Lots manager that pops up in this thread off and on, he could probably be of more assistance than any of us.

Yes, but I'm guessing there would be a higher than average return rate on them. A lot of casual shoppers will buy games because of the low price, without reading the requirements carefully. It's worth a trial period though.

Does your company have a website, and/or do you ever sell to the public?

Sorry we don't sell to the public. If this ever changes, obviously CAG will be the first place we would advertise.

Sorry. PCgirl.

The Painkiller expansion was for sale at Big Lots a year ago or so. I believe it may be stand-alone and not require the original game, though. The funny thing is that it was on sale with Painkiller Gold, which included the game and expansion for the same price :)

I have seen a few expansions over the past couple of years such as the Purple Haze expansion for VietCong. I have also seen the main product and expansion bundled together. Personally, I would love expansions.

Question: Do you guys sell to Menards? They have had a lot of PC titles over the years, but the selection for the past few months has been slim.

We do sell Half Price Books and some other big chains. I'm planning to start a thread for Half Price Books since they are really buying alot from us now. TThe good thing about them is that like Big Lots, they don't mark up the prices too much. They would also be a much more sure shot of getting the games as each store gets 6-24 copies per game. I know we recently shipped them a couple of good loads. I'll get the list of titles later today.

PcGirl.:applause:

Yeah, I noticed lately that HPB is getting a lot of the same stuff as BLs except that HPB has a much HIGHER markup. So, boys and girls, check BL before HPB!

Hi Guys,

We're close to buying a big qty of Monster Madness for the PC, but we would need to lean on Big Lots to take a lot of it. Would it sell for $ 6.00?

Also, to Razorguts and all CAGs, is it OK to solicit this type of info on this thread? I don't want to overstep any lines, I just want to get more games into more stores for Cheap!!!

I have the Xbox 360 version of it and I think you could move quite a few of the PC version at $6.00. Heck, I would buy a copy for my PC at that price.

As far as soliciting info goes. I don't have a problem with it because it makes available more cheap games for us CAG's. If there was a problem, I think a mod would have acted by now.

Thanks to this thread, I walked into my local Big Lots for the first time in four years. I walked out with Psychonauts, Harbinger, and Missing for $6 a piece. Thanks for the advice, now I have to check out my BL every couple weeks now.

Many thanks to PCGIRL...

I was keeping tabs on my local BL (Bloomsburg PA) for this new shipment. They didn't have them out Thursday Noon, but went back on Saturday (2/9) and picked up Defcon, Europa Universalis 3, and Mage Knight.
Sorry we don't sell to the public. If this ever changes, obviously CAG will be the first place we would advertise.

Sorry. PCgirl.
OK, I thought I'd try. :D

I stopped by one yesterday (2/9) and they hadn't arrived yet. I'll have to make a stop or two tomorrow. All I really want from this next shipment is Defcon.

You can never buy enough copies of Defcon...

Give it to yourself;
Give it to friends;
Give it to your cat!

Gah! Struck out at a second location. The guy who unloads all the video games said they hadn't received a shipment in over two weeks...but there were a few of the mentioned titles already on the shelf (a few, not all)? Some of these titles also ship earlier?

m6oo mentioned Europa Universalis III which we only shipped once and it was in the latest load, so the list of titles I posted a couple of weeks ago must be hitting stores. I'll be hitting the Buffalo stores on Thursday to do a first hand check up and I'll report back then. If I have the time, I'll hit all five in the area.

By the way, you guys talk about Defcon alot. We have around 2000 left, so I'll make sure that the rep who pitches Big Lots puts this one in again in March or April since each store will only receive 1-3 copies on this go round.

If there's any other games you picked up that you think are a steal, please post them so I can get the info to the appropriate party. I know the rep has been talking to buyer at Big Lots about another load, so I'll keep you posted. I bugged him for three days and he gave me a couple of sneek peak titles appearing in March!

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Wild and Soaked for $ 4.00 each, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, more Area 51 (I knew you guy like this one...see...CAG works!!!), Diner Dash 1, Diner Dash 2, Civil War A Nation Divided and Galactic assault for $ 6.00 each.

I'll post more info as it becomes available.

PCgirl:booty:

Hi eugaet,

Yes a few of these titles did ship earlier. I'm told if a title is strong we ship it too BL 2 or 3 times.

PCgirl.

OK...I'm thinking a Tulsa CAG beat me to that Big Lots, though, based on what was on the shelf. That's OK, I found my copy of Defcon at the third location. Equilibrium has been restored. :)

I wish they had included the Linux and/or Mac version in the box...my friends are interested in this game, but they haven't gone to the trouble to set up a Windows box for gaming like I have. :(

PcGirl, now all I need is a copy of Uplink: Hacker Elite to show up at Big Lots and my Introversion collection will be complete. Pretty sure I missed this one at BL a long time ago, though.

Also...Multiwinia? Multiplayer Darwinia? Darwinia MMO? Totally excited.

Didn't see Defcon at the BL on Lake Ave. in Pasadena, CA. Will have to try again later I suppose if there is to be a shipment in March.

Went it to check if for Defcon and seems like all the games they had were still the same bunch from last year. Guessing they haven't had a new shipment in either.

But I did have a "ah what the heck" moment and grab Deus Ex: Invisible War for $4. Hopefully I can forget how awesome the original Deus Ex was while playing it.

Dear PC Girl, Can you have some more Tropico 2, Evil Genius, Mafia and Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich shipped to Big Lots? Thanks a bunch.

Maybe we could start a request list?

Please feel free to start a wishlist. I check CAG pretty much everyday.

Regarding Tropico 2, Mafia and Freedom Force, we are all done with those. We never owned Evil Genius, that must have been someone else. The way gaming software usually works is: First the program is sold at frontline price. Then it's discounted to half or less. Then the balance gets shipped back to the publisher and goes out to bid to a few closeout dealers. It's a small world, but we're definatly on top. I think we win about 80% of the bids we make. After we see the product, it's usually never remanufactured. (most titles we run out of are gone forever)

I know we're working on something with NCsoft goods right now. This would be really exciting if we could get Big Lots to take it. The stumbling block will be that they really only like 1 of each title per case. These titles would be so strong, but they're few, so we would need them to take around 5 of each per box. I'll keep you informed if we get the order!

If Big Lots balks, I have a decent sized attic.

I know what Big Lots is thinking, because I've seen them get hung with some junk software in the past (probably from another vendor, your assormtents usually sell through). Hopefully you guys can make the sale, because I love buying titles for $6 at BL instead of $40.

That's interesting to hear that your company has to hand pack and sort the cases like that. That's got to be nightmare to organize, very labor intensive at the least.

Freedom Force vs the Third Reich is pretty common...you can prolly find it at Best Buy for $10, a lot of online sellers just about give it away.
I want these games! Anyone see any Act of War games there?
If you live on the east coast, a store called Five Below has Act of War: Direct Action for $5.

We also sel Five Below tons of PC software. Infact, we sold them the Act of War.

Should I post Five Below sales here or somewhere else?

You should be able to use the serial number in the box to register the Linux version. Just need to download the Linux client off the internet.
It won't work for the Mac version though, since it is ported by a different company (Ambrosia Software), so they have their own licensing setup.

And one of them had the new assortment out, so the goods are hitting the stores for sure. If anyone lives in Buffalo or Niagara Falls, it was the BL on Military Rd. that had all the titles. I have to go to the area again next week, so I'll confirm then that all five stores in the area are stocked which should indiate that all areas are getting goods!

I don't think there is any problem with the information you have been supplying. Realistically, both parties involved benefit - we get a heads up on future inventory, and you get feedback on what product is moving within your supply chain.

Changing gears - I went by BL again today, saw quite a few new titles. They had 1 copy of Defcon, and I picked it up briefly. You guys are really raving about it (as did most of the reviews when it launched), but for some reason I just can't convince myself that it's my type of game.

I also saw Shellshock: Nam '67, which is definitely an older title and one I haven't seen in BL yet (or heard anyone mention in this thread, for that matter).
