man i can't find a copy of thief 2

are anymore copies being shipped? thanks for any help!
Theif 2 came from another supplier. We are however, close to a deal with Eidos where they will make their archived content and back catalogue for us at a price where it can get to Big Lots for $ 6.00. Theif 2 is part of the package. I'll let you know when it gets finalized.

Hope this helps.
It was also really buggy on XP, so go to the "Thief The Circle" fansite and get all the patches before playing.
You do not need the patches for Thief II because the latest version (V1.18) is the one being sold. However, even though it is the latest version, I am still having trouble running it properly under Windows XP on my MacBook Pro. Oh well, from what I have played it is a great game and everyone should pick it up!!

I was beginning to think I would never find anything good but I picked up

Thief II
Hitman 2
Phantasy Star Universe
Psychonauts

for $6 apiece yesterday.

"Patches" may have been the wrong term, but the game still needs TLC in the form of some updates and/or config file mods. I played 1.18 a year or two ago, and the game had a number of problems. One with video codecs in particular that would break the game. All of the problems were fixable. The archives at Thief the Circle are the best place to start.

Hi Guys,

We shipped the NCsoft assortment on the 1st of April.

Each box contains:

4 City of Heroes Collector's edition
4 City of Heroes vs City of Villains set
1 City of Villains Collector's edition

The retail price is $ 10.00. I would expect those to hit stores between the 10th-20th of this month. Can we post when we start to see them?

PCGirl:applause:

Does this thread have an adjoining trading thread? I live between 7 Big Lots all about 30 min away in different directions and would gladly look for wanted games for CAGs.

That's a great idea, as there is no associated trading thread, afiak. But I've seen quite a few people post and encourage PM's for anyone wanting to trade, etc...

Anyone else care to share ideas on a trading thread?
But not a thread for Big Lots like there is for other specific stores.
I was thinking along the lines of the recent Circuit City clearance thread where everyone is swapping and looking for games from the specific store lists. We're lucky enough to have PC Girl sliding lists our way, so it would be easy to do.

Exactly... You should go start one.
We could really just add trade offers to this thread, because it's one of the slower topics anyway. I can't imagine it will more than double the number of posts.
I wouldn't, you'd be likely to get infractions.

Man, I'd love to see the CoH/CoV stuff for the boxes/bonuses. Doubt I'd waste time activating an account but I like the bonus crap MMO LE's get. Too bad my stores won't have em.
We could really just add trade offers to this thread, because it's one of the slower topics anyway. I can't imagine it will more than double the number of posts.
I agree with Mr Longfellow. There's only a handful of us in this thread so it not like we're congested with posts. Especially when you consider it can go several days without any of them. Plus, if the distrubution is as PCGirl says, then all of the stores should get very similar shipments. So trading would probably be uncommon, mostly happening just for older games (like Defcon) and extremely popular new games (stuff from the Eidos bundle maybe?). Even with the new infraction system, the mods should see that it isn't realistic to have a trading topic for this and would hopefully let it slide.

If they let it slide here (though I'm not sure how many mods come into this thread and how often) then someone, somewhere will complain.

I checked two Big Lots here in Vegas, still several others to check, but I didn't find any sign of the City of Heroes/Villains collectors boxes. Anyone having any luck with these yet?

Whoever does that should really evaluate their life then because it's those types of people that make the world a shitty place to live.

Anyways back on topic - I'm looking forward to hitting my local BLs as I haven't been to them in about 2-3 months. Hope I can find a Defcon.

I assume a MOD is a moderator?

What's the recent chatter about trading about?

What time of infraction could happen?

Anything else you could tell me about this thread or it's processes would help.

Thanks alot.

Yes Mod == moderator.

A lot of us trade for games we can't find at our local stores for games others can't find at their local store. Most of the stores with good clearances have their own thread in the trading forum that only deal with games that can be found at that store.

As for infractions, recently a new system has been added to the board. One of the things that can cause someone to get an infraction (and was complained about) is trade discussion outside of the trade forum. I forget how many points that gets but after one gets so many points one can get silenced (can access the board but cannot post), temporary banned, or perma banned.

I thought there used to be a trade thread? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else. Regardless, it will be a failure. People will so rarely post in it that it will drop to the 20th page on the forums, no one will see it, and they will just post here anyways. I guarantee it! But someone can try, good luck :b

Actually, it would be here so it would always be on the first page (as there is only one page). Though I agree, it would probably fail.

Is the presumption that lack of interest/participation would tank the thread? Would it make sense to make combine discount stores? I think I saw a Goodwill/Salvation Army thread (maybe not trading though...). We could consider a Value-Store "Big Lots/Half Price Books/Ollie's/etc." trade thread.

We ship Ollies too! I'll get them and half price books going so you guys know what they're getting from us. The arrangement between us and HPB is basicaly done, so you'll start seeing what we're shipping them and approximately when it will hit their stores. Do you think it would be OK if I started by posting the addressess of all their stores? They're pretty spread around the country and CAGs would be much more likely to find goods as we ship them multiple copies of a title per store.

Thoughts???

The big question to me is whether the trading would even be worth it after adding in the shipping costs.

That is great news! Thanks for the update. Forget a trading thread, we need "PC Girl's guide to Value Retail Gaming Software". I think HPB's site actually lists all the locations, but what the heck, post 'em up.

We have an Ollies here in Richmond that just opened last fall. So I'd be interested in what they're getting. (Their opening stock of PC games was pretty ugly).

What factors go into whether or not a particular store receives any of these games? I am not a regular Big Lots customer, but I made a long drive to check out the closest one to my house -- the store was near Aurora, IL. They had a pathetic collection of software. The highlight was a lone copy of Scrabble. :booty:

I've seen quite a good number of adventure games such as Indigo Prophecy, the Sentinel and a few others for $6.00. Unfortunately, I bought many of them at $19.99 from gamespot...ughh... But nevertheless, Big lots is a good place for adventure games.

I think the stores get almost the same shipments in each box. It sounds like your BL just has a lot of customers cleaning out the titles.

When we ship Big Lots, they do get pretty much the same games in each box. I'm told that pretty much all stores get at least one box per shipment. The buyer told my boss that we have about 60% of their PC game business. We do not sell educational games like the Jumpstart goods I have seen when I do my visits. So there still other suppliers for BL, but I don't know how they ship.

PCgirl.

If there are any CAG's here from north Alabama, I stopped by the BL in Florence yesterday. They have City of Heroes Col. edition x3 copies, City of Villians Col. edition x1 copy & combo packs of CoH/CoV regular versions x4 copies.

Just got both collector's editions of City of Heroes/Villains (Lapeer, MI). It seems like each store gets the same amount- 3x CoH, 4x combined, and 1x CoV sounds about right.

Hi Guys,

Each store actually gets 4 COH collectors, ! COV collector's and 4 COV/COH combos. In a couple of regions we ran a little short and put in a good value which was 3 seperate miniboxes. They were Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, RCT Wild! and RCT Soaked! all in one big bundle for $ 10.00.

Hope this helps. Thanks for the posts that the shipment has hit!

PcGirl:applause:

Also, any chance someone can snag a CoH Collector's edition for me? I'll gladly compensate and pay shipping!

I don't have that info.

Anyone able to snag a CoH Collector's Edition? I know I sound like a broken record but I'd really like a copy!

Found 2 copies of Defcon at Half Price Books - Monroeville PA. They had maybe 10 of them for $7.98. A tad higher than Big Lots, but worth saving the constant checking. Also several Area 51s, Civ 3s, Marc Ecko Getting up ($3) and many more. It was like they had everything Big Lots has ever received in one place at one time. Will check Half Price Books regularly now. Thanks PC Girl, I would have never thought to check games there. If you have lists of their stock or upcoming shipments, please post!
