Hi everyone,

Just got back from Big Lots, a lot of new games added to my surprise. I did see the Tomb Raider...but only the original Tomb Raider/Tomb Raider II set (1999) for $6.

Here is what I bought for myself:

DEFCON: $6.00
SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars - $6.00
Hearts of Iron Anthology - $6.00
Europa Universalis III - $6.00
Perimeter: Emperor's Testament - $4.00
and saw a mature 17+ shooter called Torrente for $4.00

DEFCON comes with a patch, Europa Universalis III comes with a book with many pages and Hearts of Iron Anthology comes with a medal and also a book and fortunately everything is on DVD. SpellForce2 is on four CD's as with Perimeter (2 CD's).

Saw a lot of other military-based games like Cuban Missle Crisis, Diplomacy ands several others. Saw Civilization III for $6. Saw Delaware St. John: The Seacliff Tragedy for $6.00 (which is great since it was on Target on clearance a month ago but when I got it was $9.99, down from $14.99) and games distributed by ValuSoft such an air shooter and a car demolition type game.

As for the Tycoon series that a member asked about, thought I saw railroad tycoon but I saw rollercoaster tycoon and prison something tycoon.

Just took my first trip to big lots to look for games after reading this thread. The game section at the store i went to was a mess - hidden in the corner of the store, in a dead end aisle, with tons of dvds mixed in with the games (dvd's had their own bargin bin in another section as well). Mostly Edutainment and font packs and the like but there was a few gems. Mostly listed in the 1st post - Railrood tycoon, Most of the military games listed, etc.

Probebly the most intresting finds were City Of Heros Collectors, City Of Villans Collectors and the Joint Coh/Cov Box. All were marked with $10 stickers tho - not $6 - but maybe its a register markdown thing.

Did someone get/find CoH, CoV, and/or CoH/CoV pack for $6? They're supposed to be $10.

Big Lots ALWAYS looks like a tornado just went through.
didnt stephen colbert have a report on more and more people shopping at dollar stores now? He mentioned that stores like that will begin to carry groceries some time in the near future (lol oggs)
The one here has about 6 isles worth of dry and canned goods. Maybe they are hiding the games behind the Velveeta.

Those are each $10. I may go get the CoH/CoV pack but so far just bought the CoH, CoV Collector's Editions.

But probably will not play them since I'm too cheap to pay for the monthly fee...hehe..
As for the Tycoon series that a member asked about, thought I saw railroad tycoon but I saw rollercoaster tycoon and prison something tycoon.
Couldn't find the post this referred to, but figured I'd throw this in just in case it helped whoever was asking: The Half Price Books I was at least week had a variety of the tycoon games. I know I saw several Rollercoaster and Zoo Tycoon games and their expansions. There was also a School Tycoon or something along those lines. There might have been a few others, but nothing I can recall for certain.

I found the following at the Corona, Cali store:

2 CoV Collector Editions
5 CoH Collector Editions
4 CoV/CoH bundles
1 Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 bundle (3 games: regular plus 2 expansion packs)

Each was priced at $10.

Crap, in my store all that's there is bikini games and edutainment. What a pity, there were some good games on that list.

I thought that there was going to be a new Eidos set with Tomb Raider Anniversary and some other modern titles for $6. Has anyone seen any of these yet? A couple of stores had just 2-3 awful titles and that was it...

Stopped at the Big Lots in The Colony, TX yesterday and here's what I remember seeing for $6 or so.

Psychonauts (5-6 copies)
Phantasy Star Universe
Brothers In Arms: Earned in Blood
Rainbow Six Lockdown
Thief II
Heroes of the Pacific (picked up the last copy)
Bad Day L.A.

Did pick up Devil may Cry 3 Special Edition for the PC for $6. Everything else was the same old picked over crap. PCGirl? Where are we on the Eidos shipment or some new stuff?

BTW, thanks for all the help in the past - makes it so much easier when you know stuff is comin'!

I saw an Eidos "Tomb Raider" (1 and 2) pack for $6.99 at my store about a month ago. I picked up "Thief II" a month ago. I figured it came in and everyone bought it up and those were the last two of the Eidos releases remaining.
Things seem to have REALLY slowed down the Big Lots front. Any news, guys?
I saw a $4 junk assortment today; King Kong was the only non-shovelware title. I've given up on ever seeing Tomb Raider Anniversary.

BTW, does anybody else have a hell of a time trying to get the search engine to work on CAG? I tried "big lots"and "'Big Lots'", and tried searching posts and titles in all open forums. This thread never came up in the results. ???

I can't even get the search field to come up, but it may be the firewall. Though, I do remember awhile back having a hard time finding this thread via search.

Did go to Big Lots this week and they did have a full rack of the same titles we've seen before. So there is some action. Just nothing to buy as of yet. Obviously they are still getting stuff - there was a lot of new things on the DVD side too.

Speaking of the DVDs, nearly every movie from the Pink Panther series showed up in the $3 MGM assortment. Pick up any of the originals with Peter Sellers: A Shot in the Dark, Revenge of the Pink Panther, Return of the Pink Panther, and the Pink Panther Strikes Again. I'll take one Peter Sellers for every 10 of your Mike Myers and Adam Sandlers. thank you very much.

Try "biglots" (one word).

I didn't see these games being mentioned, so I'll mention them.

Picked up Brother's in Arms: Road To Hill 30 and Gothic II today for $6.00 each.

Dunno what Big Lots you guys are going to... Just came back from my local BL and they had STALKER, Call of Duty 4, and Unreal Tournament 3... all for $6.00. Oh, and stand-alone Portal was only $4.00...

No wait a minute... this was just a dream I had. :)

/end joke. You guys are right... things kinda slow at Big Lots these days, though I did get a copy of Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood... funny, cuz I got the original BiA which I've yet to install...

sucks = you ;)

That post might be true........in 4 years. But by then, there will probbly be a CoD6 and Unreal Tournament IV, and who knows what else ;)

I happened to go back to Big Lots again, checked the games, and they had some new inventory, but all games that we already know about.

And I finally bit the bullet and got the single remaining copy of Defcon...

My Big Lots (Athens GA) was fully stocked with PC games for the first time in months. I ended up picking up:

Scarface
Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 40 and Earned in Blood
Heroes of the Pacific
Trouble/Battleship/Perfection (for the kids)
Gothic 2

They had a ton of other games but like the other posters mentioned there it looked to be mostly restock of titles that carried a few months back. BL also had a bunch of HBO DVDs that I had not seen before. I picked up seasons one of Cracker (the british version) and the best of Arli$$ for $3 each!

Interesting. I haven't made a Big Lots run in a while... maybe I'll have to make a trip.

I went to my local big lots last weekend and it did seem they got restocked since my last visit like 2 months. Basically nothing that hasent been mentioned in this thread tho - They had a Copy of Defcon that wasent there before - nothing else of intrest to me.

They did seem to have a metric ton of those "DVD Games" on the shelf - along with the normal dvds and PC games.

I went back again and saw some items that I don't think have been mentioned here yet - particularly the Sierra collections of Space Quest and Police Quest (each collection packaged and sold separately)... I wonder if they're still using DOSBox to run in windows.

I didn't have a pen/paper handy, but there were a couple of other titles that I hadn't seen yet...

:hot:
Space Quest and Police Quest collections...
I gotta make a Big Lots run.

I was at my local BL about a week ago. Got Tomb Raider 2 Gold and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Saw Defcon, Brothers in Arms, and 2 different board game PC thing boxes. One was Trouble/Battleship/Perfection that was mentioned before.

Awesome news!! I will have to hit BL tonight on the way home to see if they have either of those titles.

BTW, if the Space and Police Quests collections are like the Kings Quest collection they are still using DOSBox to help emmulate the games.

Since the GameStop coupon sucked pretty hard this time around, I decided to swing by my local Big Lots after work last week to see if they had anything new (for me).. I ended up picking up:

$4
City of Villains CE
Hidden & Dangerous

$6
Commandos
Project Eden
Thief
Thief II
Hitman
Hitman II
JSF Simulator

---
A few weeks earlier I had scored (6/24):

$6
Splinter Cell - chaos theory
Rainbow 6 - lock down
Terror Strike
City of Heroes CE
Axis & Allies
Brother in Arms - earned in blood
Brother in Arms - road to hill 30
Onimusha 3

Went by BL on 7/25 - Looks like there WAS a restock of some titles we've seen before (the software shelves were full) and there seem to be added some $6 Sierra titles (assault Heroes and Battlestar Galactica). Good to see a little progress. I'm sure those will go fast.
...and there seem to be added some $6 Sierra titles (assault Heroes and Battlestar Galactica).
Just an FYI, Assault Heroes 1 is only $5 on Xbox MarketPlace...and it is well worth it. I believe Battlestar is still $10.
Whatever happened to the Eidos shipment?
Guess I'll never get TR: Anniversary for under $10. :(
I saw the damn Tomb Raider 1/2/Angel of Crapness assortment last week and got excited. Oh the disappointment...

I just know those Anniversary discs are out in the desert somewhere mulching a big pile of ET cartridges. :bomb:

I was surprised to see games that weren't educational at my Big Lots in Peoria,IL. I didn't find Beyond Good and Evil which I would have picked up but I bought Psychonauts for 6.00 instead. I was surprised when I opened it because it was 6 cds. I have only bought games off steam since I got a gaming pc.

There's some copies of Defcon at my local store, but I just can't see myself paying the 6 dollar price tag on it.

........

Are you kidding? What does it take? 6 dollars for Defcon is a steal.

Agreed. I paid the full $20 for Defcon and don't feel ripped-off. It's a great game and a steal at $6. Highly recommended at that price.

After the way the game insulted me for trying a leaked copy (before release, mind you), and threatened that they had permanently banned my IP from their servers, they would have to pay me to buy it; or at least give a very sincere apology. There's simply no reason to insult someone who wanted to be one of your customers like that =/

This won't end well...
So you're mad that they protected their copyright? Interesting.

There are no words.
So you're mad that they protecting their copyright?
No. I'm simply not in the mood for giving my money to companies that are incredibly rude and insulting to me. As I said, it was leaked BEFORE the game was released, and iirc that's in terms of weeks and not hours. If I had downloaded it afterwards? Sure. If I were playing afterwards? Understandable. Not when it was before the game could be obtained legitimately, and not insulting, and basically saying "Never buy our game". It didn't even have anything to do with protecting their copyright, it was just plain being rude.

Anyway, there's no reason to have this conversation. I was merely making the point that it might not be worth paying ANY money for for some people, despite the fact that the game itself is pretty good.

EDIT: I don't pirate games. I haven't in well over a year, and I certainly didn't pirate DEFCON. This is like calling someone a thief for trying on a shirt in a changing room, and then wearing it out of the store, regardless of whether they paid or not.
