DEFCON & Uplink ROCK! I passed on the BL copy because I have them on Steam.

See below for the awesomeness.
No. I'm simply not in the mood for giving my money to companies that are incredibly rude and insulting to me. As I said, it was leaked BEFORE the game was released, and iirc that's in terms of weeks and not hours. If I had downloaded it afterwards? Sure. If I were playing afterwards? Understandable. Not when it was before the game could be obtained legitimately, and not insulting, and basically saying "Never buy our game". It didn't even have anything to do with protecting their copyright, it was just plain being rude.

Anyway, there's no reason to have this conversation. I was merely making the point that it might not be worth paying ANY money for for some people, despite the fact that the game itself is pretty good.

EDIT: I don't pirate games. I haven't in well over a year, and I certainly didn't pirate DEFCON. This is like calling someone a thief for trying on a shirt in a changing room, and then wearing it out of the store, regardless of whether they paid or not.
:lol::applause::lol::applause::lol::applause::lol::applause::lol::applause:

You are so delusional.
I ended up picking up:

$6
Commandos
Project Eden
Thief
Thief II
Hitman
Hitman II
JSF Simulator
I really enjoyed Project Eden when it came out ~6 years back... It's too bad that it didn't garner favorable reviews at the time.

All of those $6 games are great titles. Off topic slightly: Who's ready for some Thief 4? Or some Deus Ex 3? Both are in development...

wow, the neon glow of the monitor, coupled with the dark room full of electronics, is perfect for playing DEFCON.

I haven't installed my copy on my new rig; do people still play online?

Went by my Big Lots today and they got restocked bigtime for Eidos and Sierra titles. Most of them were on fore1337's list.
Also some Anime games and/or box sets onn the same shelf that i hadent seen before.

Saw City of Heroes DVD Collector's Edition, but it is $10 rather than $6. :whistle2:|

By the way, how come City of Heroes Collector's Edition box is the new small PC box while City of Villian Collector's Edition is bigger longer box?

CoH CE is supposed to be $10... that one store probably made a mistake when they marked it $6. That is, unless a different distributer shipped the more recent copies.

Went to my Big Lots today and they had a lot of stuff. I snagged:

$6
Painkiller Gold
Space Quest Collection
Thief 1
Thief 2

$4
The Movies

I also saw Brothers in Arms, Hearts of Iron, two Commandos games, Hitman 1, Universe At War (was surprised since this is so new), Keepsake, and a few other good ones, but I passed. I also put Silverfall back because the system requirements were borderline for my aging PC. Was hoping for Defcon, but oh well. Now that I'm thinking about it, I should have grabbed Keepsake. Crap.

Also grabbed a ton of $3 DVDs, some really great gems in there.

IIRC, the CoH CE had 1 Heroclix of the Statesman, while the CoV CE had something like 6 or so villain Heroclix.

That's a great haul Kelegacy!
I have to keep a look out for Painkiller Gold, Universe At War & Silverfall. Thanks for the heads up!

...also, everyone is talking about 'The Movies' it has a great metascore.. I don't like the Sims, is it like the sims?

Okay, I'm done with Big Lots for a while.

Today's haul was sparse, but I'm happy because I found SpellForce.

$4
Cuban Missile Crisis RTS

$6
Spellforce 2
Hearth of Iron Anthology (HoI 1 & 2 +Book +Iron Cross Medal!)

Today I saw a strange $6 assortment that included Pacific Storm, Battlestations:Midway, History Channel Battles of Rome, History Channel Battles of the Pacific, Bookworm, and many of the other titles previously mentioned. Both History Chennel games appear to be crapola.

Grabbed Painkiller Gold at Ebensburg PA Big Lots. They had two Brothers in Arms games and the Sierra titles (Space Quest Collection).
You guys suck, nothing but kid stuff at mine.
You should blame your Big Lots, not people at CAG.:) I also went to couple Big Lots before that had virtually no PC games at all.
Big Lots has Silverfall now? I gotta go look for that, hopefully my BL got some stuff in from last time.
Only one copy at my BL. I didn't snag it because of reviews and system requirements, but when I went back a day or two later to get Keepsake this past week, it was still there.

Went to one of my local biglots and they had a whole boatload of PC games (must have been over 20 different titles) I ended up grabbing Universe At War for $6. (The wife grabbed Mysterious Journey II for $6 also)

Silverfall is a hell of a lot better with Silverfall: Earth Awakening installed along with it -- technically especially, with performance improvements and major interface improvements (Sorting, sleeker look, can manipulate these windows anywhere on screen, etc etc).

Unfortunately, Silverfall: Earth Awakening is not sold in retail boxes in the USA (yet). STEAM has it, for digital distribution. Silverfall: EA really does deserve a US Release, b/c it fixes so much of the original game, which still is somewhat broken.

Though, Gogamer does sell a UK import of Silverfall: EA in a retail box -- but right now, it's $35. I bought it from them, when it was $19.90 on one of their madness sales, sometime back.

I could probably buy Silverfall and do a trade if someone wanted it that badly. Also, Universe at War. My store has the Commandos games, Hitman 1, Brothers in Arms, Diplomacy, Project Eden and tons of Tomb Raider as well. Probably more games, but I'm forgetting.

Now, they might have already been bought, but that's what I saw still sitting there.

My local shop must have received a new shipment!

$4
Conflict Global Terror
Monster Madness
Combat Mission: Shock Force
Frontline Fields of Thunder
Rush For Berlin

$6
Mysterious Journey 2
Painkiller Gold
Universe at War
Great Battles of Rome
Silverfall
Keepsake
Battle Stations Midway
Dungeon Lords
Soldier of Fortune Payback

edit: D'OH I already have an unopened copy of Silverfall, so I have to return it. LOL. Is there anywhere in the U.S. to pick up the Silverfall expansion for cheap?

About Dungeon Lords -- did you find the Original? Or Collector's Ed?

To add to this, Silverfall: Earth Awakening is actually a STAND-ALONE product. You don't need Silverfall: Original to run Silverfall: Earth Awakening.

Though, if you do have Silverfall (original) already installed, you should install Silverfall: EA into the SAME folder -- so you enhance the original game.

Just make sure if you do install these two together, NEVER install Silverfall Patch 1.17 (for the original game -- there's a data issue w/ the game, if you do, which causes the game to not act right when you enter the new area; it'll crash every time). Just install Silverfall: Original (Version 1.00, from off the game DVD) and then install Silverfall: EA.

Silverfall: Earth Awakening is NOT sold in any retail boxes in the USA.

If you are looking for the game in a retail box, Gogamer does sell a UK Import of it, since this game is available in a retail box (DVD Case, actually) out in The UK -- but again, it is pricey right now. See my post a few posts up, for more info.
About Dungeon Lords -- did you find the Original? Or Collector's Ed?
It appears to be the standard edition.

went today and found

6-
dungeon lords
keepsake
painkiller gold edition
silverfall
universe at war

4-
monster madness - battle for suburbia
golden compass
eragon

I dropped by mine the other day and picked up King Kong for $4, and the Police Quest collection for $6.

They also had several copies of the first two games in the Hitman series, for $6, and Tomb Raider II, Tomb Raider Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness, also for $6. And one copy of Thief II for $6.

That's to say nothing of the usual junk no one should pay any attention to.

I found copies of:

$6
Galactic Assault : Prisoner of Power
Devil May Cry3 SE
and
Traitor's Gate2 (I got charged for $6, but I'm pretty sure it's a $4 title)

whoohoo!
That's to say nothing of the usual junk no one should pay any attention to.
You mean "Hoyle Card Games 7" and "MahJong Master 5" are junk?? :)

I saw Universe at War and Silverfall at my Big Lots, but the system requirements left me a bit weary. I also almost picked up Space Quest Collection and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (I'm a fan of that game, and I no longer have a PS2 to play the copy I own), but put those back at the last minute.

I picked up Thief II, that's one of the titles I was hoping to find. I was also hoping to find Mage Knight Apocalypse and Dungeon Lords, but no luck here. Still, it turned out to be a very productive trip: they thankfully still had a few budget titles that I've been eying for a while (Magic Match, Wizard's War Chest, and Defender of the Crown). Those three were all $4 each, so not really great deals, but I was glad they had them now that I was ready to buy some new games.
IIRC, the CoH CE had 1 Heroclix of the Statesman, while the CoV CE had something like 6 or so villain Heroclix.
7 - 3 heroes and 4 villains :)
(In regards to Dungeon Lords)
It appears to be the standard edition.
I doubt I'd buy the Original Edition, since its last patch was Patch 1.4.
And you can't upgrade to Patch 1.5 with that standard edition (which is bullcrap).

Patch 1.5 was never released as a patch for original game owners; not even as a huge download (which it should've been).
Or even sold in a retail box as a expansion.

The Dungeon Lords game was reworked completely and (the re-released) Dungeon Lords: Collector's Ed comes in a tin-box and actually comes w/ Final Patch 1.5 equipped, which fixed and changed a lot of stuff.

Basically, you want Patch 1.5, you have to (re)-buy Dungeon Lords: Collector's Ed.

Found pristine copies of:

DEFCON $6
and
The Movies $4 (it has an 84 metacritic score, I'm kinda curious about it)

SUpposedly the Stunts and Effects expansion makes it a lot better and fixes some of the problems with it. I'm looking for one cheap before I install my copy.

Police Quest for $6. That's definitely worth it.

I noticed that a few of the newer games posted like Universe at War are only Vista only. But for that price, you can't beat that if you have a Vista machine. Saw it at Target for $14.00 and was excited until I saw that it's only for Vista... :(

Are these newer games able to run on laptops like Silverfall...or is this another one that requires a great powerful computer or needs vista to run?

what the heck? big lots sells games? always thought it was like a rite aid. ill have to check it out sometime
what the heck? big lots sells games? always thought it was like a rite aid. ill have to check it out sometime
Nope, its a closeout store, but I'll admit it does pretty much sell the same items that you could find at a Rite Aid XD Of course, prices are much better, but they always have different items, etc.

The Universe at War box lists XP under the requirements. I installed the game (which I got at Big Lots) on my XP machine and it runs just fine.

 Was this comment even necessary?

I know this isnt game related but since people come to this thread to see the new Big Lots deals I wanted to add what I just found. They have gotten some great dvd collections for cheap. The ones off the top of my head that I saw were

Argentosoma(Anime Complete Collection) goes for round 80 bucks on amazon and its 10 dollars at Big Lots.

Scrapped Princess Volume 1(with figure) and Volume 5(with mini figures) 10 each

Species Trilogy Collection 7 dollars

Hannibal Lecter 2 pack 5 bucks

Michael Moore 2 pack 7 bucks

and they had a good amount of other anime collections and movie collections for cheap and also had tons of new dvds that werent mgm for 3 dollars a piece. May want to check it out

Hi everyone,

Came back from my Big Lots today....Wow! There were a lot of new $6.00 games since I last went in for the City of Heroes collections.

A lot of releases from Atari, Eidos, Sega, Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, etc.

Unlike before with "Tomb Raider" 1 and 2 taking up shelf space, I saw many more "Tomb Raiders" from other series, Hitman, Devil May Cry, Onimusha III, Battlestar Galactica, Battle for Troy, Silverfall, Police Quest and Space Quest Collection, Universe At War, Great Battles of Rome, Battle Assault, Thief II (which was there before), Monster Madness, several Brothers in Arms, Painkiller Gold, Gothic 2. 3D mini-golf, Battlestations Midway, Mysterious Journey II, Soldiers in Fortune (newer version), Conflict Global Terror, some other shooters and war-based RTS. A lot of kids games and many others. The endcap was literally fully but since there were too many games, there were piles on top of piles.

But was surprised to find a few people looking at them (young kids too that were going for the good titles) and the shelves were full.

I didn't see Dungeon Lords though....

Picked up Universe at War (thanks Orimites, I thought I saw only vista only but the box indeed has xp as well), Great Battles of Rome (I have Total War but the fact it includes History Channel footage is what I was more or less after), Police Quest Collection (I have the first release of the collection but I didn't like how you still had to look at the books and stuff for copy protection. Haven't opened this version to check if it's the same), picked up Silverfall but mainly cause the cover art looked sweet.

Though I had Thief I and not Thief II but I realized I have Thief II and not Thief, so will go back and return it for maybe Mysterious Journey II...but then again, I don't own the first game, so maybe will go for something else.

Btw, I read about Dungeon Lords, is it bad without that 1.5 patch...I read about the remake with the new patch but it's that considerable? (was reading the wikipedia page on it and doesn't seem promising but I'm open to try it)

Wish they had Keepsake, because I definitely want to try that one...but didn't see that or the first Thief game.

Wow! What is the size of your monitor??

Went back to return "Thief II" (since I had it already....it's bad when you don't know if you own a game because you own too many games) and looks like the whole endcap was ravaged. So, it's nice to know there are PC gamers checking the Big Lots endcap.

Wasn't sure what to get but left with Brother in Arms: Earned in Blood. The game comes with 4 discs....I try to find games on DVD and not CD since I've resorted keeping all my games (inc. DVD's and music) in binders to avoid my home looking like Blockbuster/Hollywood Video. But anyway...$6

Also found it interesting how Big Lots has wannabe transformer toys called "Transformed"...
