Wasn't sure what to get but left with Brother in Arms: Earned in Blood. The game comes with 4 discs....I try to find games on DVD and not CD since I've resorted keeping all my games (inc. DVD's and music) in binders to avoid my home looking like Blockbuster/Hollywood Video. But anyway...$6
Yeah, I don't think the USA got a DVD-ROM Edition for BiA: Earned in Blood.
Mine is also 4 CD's, which I bought from Gogamer.

Though, UK did get BIA: Earned in Blood on DVD-ROM.

Though, BIA: Road to Hill 30 did get a DVD-ROM Edition the USA -- I do have that.
Got that from Big Lots some time back, actually.

Saw a few titles at a PA Big Lots I've not yet seen:

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
Atari Anniversary
Total Annihiliation
Unreal Gold
Prison Tycoon
Tabloid Tycoon
Mysterious Journey II

And a few other Strategy/Military titles. There were also a few copies of Painkiller Gold (I highly recommend) and The Movies.

I got the Space Quest collection for $6. I was hoping to find the King's Quest collection as well, but no luck. I saw Tomb Raider III, Last Revelation, Chronicles, and Angel of Darkness (ugh), but I already have all those. (this was Colonial Heights, VA in case anybody is around there)

I bought Painkiller (Black) last year from Fry's...any differences with that and Painkiller (Gold)?

As for Kings Quest Collection, wasn't that part of the GameDay's sale at Gamestop last year for $6. But definitely worth owning...King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Leisure Suit Larry and Gabriel Knight collections. Awesome! Especially the Gabriel Knight collection....but I think that is oop. Was there a Heroes Quest collection or other Sierra collections of the older games made available?
I bought Painkiller (Black) last year from Fry's...any differences with that and Painkiller (Gold)?
Both have the same content -- PK: Original and PK: Battle out of Hell Expansion.

PK: Black Edition comes on one DVD.
PK: Gold comes on I think 5 CD's.

Got the following today:

$4
American McGee presents Bad Day LA

$3 DVDs
Foxfire
Lewis Black: Black on Broadway
Lewis Black: Red, White, and Screwed
Wild Things

Finally found a few things:
The Movies
Silverfall
Sid Meier's Railroads
Space Quest collection
Police Quest collection

Saw a few of the tomb raiders.

Picked up a few dvd's as well. Not a bad haul for $40

Saw Universe At War for $6, almost snagged it for the 1 month Xbox Live. Got Bookworm Deluxe for my mother in law, will give her a new word game since she has been playing Scrabble for the last 6 month.
Has anybody heard from PCGirl lately?
Hi Guys. Our company was short staffed all summer, so I was doing 2 poeple's jobs. But i'm back in action. Since I last posted, we have shipped BL over 250,000 pieces.

Look for updates soon!

PcGirl.

I can find every game mentioned in this thread except the one I want, Defcon. I wonder if that'll be restocked in any future shipments?

If there's a Half Price Books near you, check there! They receive nearly the same titles as Big Lots & more. I found about a dozen Defcon copies there.

Thanks, but there aren't any in Florida. :whistle2:(

You should check Half-Priced Books if there is one in your area. I see dozens of copies of Defcon and Darwinia. $6-8 I believe.

Update: I had to buy Windshield Wipers so I made a round trip through Half-Price Books and Big Lots!

Dissappointed with Big Lots! selection. Definitely a bargain bin that you gotta dig through. Everything priced $6.

Of interest to me was Defcon which was $6 but was $5 at Half Price books, where I bought it. BL had lots of City of Heroes/Villains (just like HLB). At BL I bought Crusader Kings, their only copy for $6.

So bottom line, if you're in Austin and you're looking for some good vaporware/old software try Half-Price Books on N. Lamar. Great selection/prices and it's neatly arranged, lots of inventory.

At BL I did like their DVDs. All were marked $3. Of interest:
GATTACA
ROLLERBALL (James Caan)
Art School Confidential (Malkovich)

Hope this is helpful.

We have more Defcon in stock and we put it in every second BL assortments based on the chatter from CAG.

Yay, thank you! :D

You know, I wonder if PCGirl's company is actually Stootsi?

Let's review the facts:

PCGirl goes missing leading up to and during Stootsi gamer box fiasco.

PCGirl mentions doing the jobs of two people during her absence, while Stootsi was obviously not staffed properly to handle their big promotion.

Stootsi claims to have all these PC titles in a warehouse somewhere, while PCGirl's company has tons and tons of games they ship out to Big Lots all the time.

Hmmm...I smell a conspiracy! And if there isn't one, well, there damn well should be! ;D

NO! Stay away. Them's MY hunting grounds.;)

PCGirl I'm in Tucson, AZ and my BigLots haven't been refreshed in 6 months. Which location should I be slumming?

I finally got Defcon last night for $4. I also found a DVD of the Japanese movie Returner for $3 - I didn't even know it had a US release. Thanks again, PcGirl! :D
Picked up:

Defcon
Shadow of Destiny (A really good Konami adventure game)
The Movies

Each were $4.
Ooo, The Movies? I've been on and off for that game, might just need to drop by BL to see if they have a copy at mine.

Went to Big Lots and since I last went a few weeks ago, looks like a lot of people went there and bought plenty of games. There is the bottom shelf on the end cap but not wanting to get dirty and nor do I set on the floors of department stores, wanted to check to see if there were any cool games jammed down there but since the end cap is near the entrance and so many people coming and going.... I wasn't able to check to see if "Thief" was there.

I ended up get two $4 games though. Found another obscure "mature" game with "Bad Day L.A.", it seemed so non-PC that I was so damn curious and had to check it out. About a homeless person in L.A. who is getting tired of too many "unwanted visitors" moving into his neighborhood, so you can arm him with weapons to fight them. So, this is the second "mature humor" game I found on the shelves.

I'm curious how many "mature" games Big Lots gets in. Especially since Big Lots employees don't seem to really look at the ESRB ratings.

And I picked up "Shadow of Destiny", think it came out for the PS2 but I figured $4 is still good, so got that.

I checked out BL and was hoping for Defcon. No luck. I did see Tomb Raider 3 and Last Revelation, Silverfall, Perimeter, Theif (2?), Shadow of Destiny, Bad Day LA, and... that's about all I can remember. I might go back and get Perimeter, the tomb Raiders, and Silverfall.

Went back by my Big Lots yesterday and a bunch of titles that were $6 before now had $4 copies sitting on the shelf right next to $6 versions. I picked up Eragon, Backyard Basketball 2007, Cars (not the original title but a pack of kids games, can't remember the full name), a Learning Company 4 pack of educational software, and Switchball all at $4 each. I know I also saw the Movies, Defcon, Assult Heroes, Sierra Mini Golf, and a few other titles I didn't know at $4.

Still no Silverfall though. :( I would be more than happy to pick up a Defcon for someone if they could find me a Silverfall. :)

Despite "BAD DAY LA" receiving horrendous reviews by the critics in 2006 and pretty much nearly getting the worst game released that year, if you decide to purchase it with an open mind and not expecting much (especially if you played McGee's "Alice" or "Scrapland"), the game is kind of interesting.

A lot of toilet humor and some have said the character of Anthony reminded them of David Chapelle but anyway, it was a really crazy game.

Personally, I think it's worth owning for $4 and I'm curious if anyone under 18 can go into Big Lots and purchase it. It's a mature game with a lot of profanity and violence is there...since terrorists drop a biological agent on US and people are turning to zombees and because of mass hysteria, some people are looting stores, turning to zombies and people (business man, thugs to senior citizens) who are not sure who is a zombie or not just beating up people with crow bars, bottles and machine guns.

Of course, you are given gauze to help medically injured people, a fire extinguisher that puts out flames that are burning people or to de-zombie people infected, a crow bar and machine gun to take out terrorists or zombies.

Of course, you can't just do what you want. Beating up innocents will affect your positive or negative meter.

You gain health by collecting porn mags, you can rub dog crap on you to have people get away from you, gain power ups like malt liquor and big gulps.

Second level has you riding in an ambulance with a machine gun taking out terrorist almost like a drive-by shooting.

Really crazy game!

I've been to 3 Big Lots! in three locations in Austin, TX. Only one had $4 games and I picked up The Movies and Shadow of Destiny (adventure). I've bought 3 DVDs for $3: Saved, Rollerball, Undertow (David Gordon Greene, i.e. Pineapple Express).

I'm never going back there. The place sucks. Their stock sucks.

I only kept popping in because there seems to be one within walking distance of every Half-Priced Books I go to. Go figure.
Meanwhile at HPB I bought [PC]:
Black and White 2 (used): $4.98
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (used): $7.98
Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior (used): $4.98
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (new): $6.00
Majestic: Gold Edition (used): $1.98

At least it's fun to dig through at HPB.

I would only recommend going to BL! if you can walk there from your front door. Gas is too expensive to waste running around looking for crappy $4 games.

Slightly off topic, but I saw several $3 copies of The Movies at a Western PA Ollie's yesterday as well as Splinter Cell: Choas and a few others. The majority of their software was jewel-case budget stuff, but there were a few worthy titles for those willing to peek.

I went to two Big Lots here in San Diego county. One in lemon grove near the college avenue walmart and another on Sweetwater Road in Spring Valley. I got the following games:

Missing (Since January) : $6.00
Rush For Berlin: $4.00
Battlestations Midway: $4 (I think it was supposed to be $6 but rang up $4)
Battle For The Pacific: $6.00
Gothic II: $6.00
Defcon: $6.00
Delaware St. John Volume 3: $6
Brothers in Arms Earned In Blood: $6

On friday I'm planning a trip to another big lots. If anyone knows of a big one in the San Diego area please PM me. I'm looking for one with a bigger selection. I want to see if I can get some of the other games from this thread.

Scored a Defcon Finally in DeKalb, IL.
Had to pick up the Space Quest bundle as I couldn't leave only spendng $4.

Battlestar Galactica for $6 is tempting me, but haven't bit yet.

DVD Movie selection seems to be improving some too.

The times I've checked the Big Lots you went to they had nothing, but I should stop by sometime if you've scored that much. I think my fav is the one off of Clairemont Dr, scored two anime sets and a City of * game.

Yeah, I just started seeing games there around 4 months ago. And now they have a lot. Also if you're into anime both of the ones I went to have lots of box sets.

Big Lots in The Colony, TX got a big restock. I saw:

FEAR
Devil May Cry 3
Silverfall
Universe at War
The Movies
Sacred Plus
Heroes of the Pacific
City of Villains
Mage Knight Apocalypse

Haven't been able to find Defcon at my two Big Lots so I went to Half Price Books for the first time - just opened one in my city. Found Defcon for $8 - passed for now. But I did score a Voyager Elite Force for $1 on clearance.

Wow! I've never seen FEAR at Big Lots and bought it on clearance at Target for $14.99 I think...so yeah, that would be an awesome deal if you can get it at $6 or $4.

Elite Force is an OUTSTANDING game. The online community is small now, but games can still be played online.
