FYE is running a trade-in promotion where you get a bonus 20% on top of the 25% bonus for choosing credit when you pre-order select games. While the "official" list is pretty small, I was told that if you ask, they should be able to give you the bonus on ANY game you want to pre-order.

If you are wondering how much your cd's/games/movies get at FYE, a good place to check is www.secondspin.com . Their game TIV's are usually spot on, DVD's & CD's can vary between 10-25% between Secondspin's TIV and the actual FYE TIV.

No expiration dates given, but as some of the games this promo is advertising go to 2009, i'd imagine this will be a new policy FYE will be bringing in. Just a warning though, FYE can be very anal when it comes to trades. From what i've experienced, they all have to be complete with original case & manual. Depending on the store, your discs may need to be in pristine condition for them to accept.

Some good flips with Blockbuster's B1G1 sale:
(TIV's are CASH/CREDIT/PREORDER)

Beautiful Katamari (360): $5 -> $8/$10/$11.60
Golden Compass (PS3): $5 -> $7/$8.75/$10.15
Ratchet & Clank Size Matters (PS2): $5 -> $9/$11.25/$13.05
Rockstar Table Tennis (Wii): $5 -> $10/$12.50/$14.50
Sea Monsters (Wii): $7.50 -> $11/$13.25/$15.95
Super Swing Golf Season 2 (Wii): $5 -> $10/$12.50/$14.50

Also, it is important to note for first timers that some FYE stores can be very strict on trade-in condition. One store I was at wouldn't accept anything that wasn't near mint and complete.

interesting. i wonder if we would be able to cancel the preorder later on and still be able to keep the bump. getting/having cheap credit at fye helps me satisfy my blu-ray cravings.
i hate to be a ****in' n00b, but what does this all mean?
would i have to use instore credit? *confused* :(
I'm with you man.. *feels stupid*

Sorry, i clarified the OP a bit more. You get a bonus 45% to items you trade into FYE if you use that credit from the trade to pre-order one of the select games.

Its pretty much like Gamestop's Power Trades, you just get 45% instead of the 20 + edge.

My local FYE said they no longer stock new games and only sell used games from trade-ins when I asked them about new releases in July. Is this promo national or only local - applies to those stores that still receive new games?

A strange thing happened last week when I tried to trade to FYE. I was trading Downstream Panic (PSP), and the manager (who has been either very misinformed or very lazy on numerous occasions) informed me that TransWorld stores are no longer accepting PSP and PS2 games.

FWIW, this guy always tries to come up with reasons to not do trades (not sure why since they have incentives for it), so he might be just feeding me a line. Just something to watch out for.

Damn, that's a nice list. To show my thanks, ill pull out my ace in the hole as I'm not sure how many I can keep trading. There is a cd by the band SOiL called El Chupacabra. It goes on average for $5-7 online (Amazon has it up for $7 shipped). FYE pay $15 cash, $18.75 credit, or $21.75 if you pre-order one of the select games. Its OOP, so they probably think it is rare, but it really isn't.

Transworld is well known for incompetence in its FYE stores. IIRC, this isn't an automated process, so for anyone new to this, just make sure you're getting the correct bonus when you trade in.

Thanks op, in for a Fallout 3 reservation on ps3. Dumped a bunch of dvd's i've switched over to their blu ray upgrade:cool:

Honestly I think wherehouse.com is more reliable than secondspin.

Do you know if this is all FYEs? I know a lot of FYEs stopped doing trade ins.

Jar, nice list. Used it a couple weeks back with the Sony coupon. A couple notes:

For most of the PS2 games, it looks like you only calculated 25% vs. 45% TIV bonus.

Touch Detective 2 1/2 vs. 1 1/2. On secondspin.com, there is no 1 1/2.

My local FYE said they no longer stock new games and only sell used games from trade-ins when I asked them about new releases in July. Is this promo national or only local - applies to those stores that still receive new games?

My local FYE doesn't do new games only. So I'm going to assume that they won't offer the 45% bonus.

I'm still confused... Besides the store in my area, are there other FYE stores that don't stock new games or are FYE stores only selling new games that have been paid as pre-orders?

Argh - messed up :cry:.
No ps3 games?
Its possible that they do, but their flyers only advertise the 360/Wii versions of the multi platform games.

yes ps3 games are part of the deal they're just not posted on the slip. I put mine towards fallout 3 on ps3. All multi plat titles are available for both systems.

you'd get $26.10 for unreal. depending on which rock band 2 you get (bundle or game only) just subtract the 26.10 from the cost the game.

Hmmm, I wonder how much FYE would give for a complete Rock Band Xbox 360 set in order to pre-order Rock Band 2. Anyone know about that one?

The complete Rock Band set gets $65.25 after the 45% bonus.

That's after the 45% bonus? Ouch! Do they give you some Vaseline with that pre-order?

With the PSP/PS2/DS/Wii/XBox TiV lists already here, I'll add the 360 and PS3 ones, although they're pretty brutal:

360
Beowulf ($9.99) $7.99 -> $6 ($8.70)
Crash of the Titans ($17.99) $14.39 -> $13 ($18.85)
Timeshift ($24.99) $19.99 -> $15 ($21.75) *** must have UPC# 74272527135
Wall-E ($39.99) $31.99 -> $21.75 ($31.54)
World Championship Poker All In ($8.99) $7.19 -> $5 ($7.25)

If Dark Sector is 50% off:
Dark Sector ($8.99) $7.19 -> $8 ($11.60)

PS3
Wall-E ($39.99) $31.99 -> $21.75 ($31.54)

If Dark Sector is 50% off:
Dark Sector ($8.99) $7.19 -> $9 ($13.05)

Dark Sector doesn't seem to be 50% off. It would normally show up as a price drop online before it gets to the B&M in my experience.
Looks like I'll trade in Timeshift and some other game, then pay the rest.
Make sure the UPC# matches. Otherwise you'll get only $8.70 for it (UPC# 02062672621 is only $6 base).

Thanks for your lists Jar. I'm gonna try my luck tomorrow, but im guessing PSP & DS games are going to be the best bet as FYE can be really anal about quality of the discs (and im guessing most of those bargain bin XBX & PS2 titles are gonna be funky looking.

Heres hoping it goes well

Good luck, Bezerker. Usually the FYE lists (and the eStar ones) are always swallowed up and lost in the GS coupon threads.

Also, let me know if they take your PSP games. I want to know if the FYE manager was lying or telling the truth about those.

I updated the OP and plan on doing an updated list of flips eventually. It looks like this deal is going to be a new ongoing thing for FYE.

I also updated in the OP the nice fact that if you ask, they should be able to give you the bonus on any game you want to pre-order. The flyer they have says "these titles AND MANY MORE" but they do not have a list of the "and many more" so they will just give the bonus for whatever game you want to pre-order.

I've been searching second spin and i came up with a partial list of
BBV->FYE Flippables

Ps2 Metal Slug Anthology – 12
Wii Nights – 10
Wii Crash of the Titans – 10
Ps3 Dark sector – 9
360 Dark Sector – 8
360 Monster Madness – 5
360 Timeshift – 15 UPC: 74272527135
360 Beautiful Katamari – 8

If any1 can find anymore BBV->FYE flips please post them for me. I know many BBVs that have mint games because no one rents there.

for pro fishing challenge on the xbox list, the GS price went up to 5.99, no longer 4.99.

Have you guys had luck finding old xbox games in good enough shape for fye?

LSW for 360 dropped to $17.50 sometime between Sat and Tuesday. LSW for the Wii is still current as of yesterday. Got $40 in FYE credit for $23.40 in GS credit. Still pretty good.

Wii version seems to be the harder one to find in my area. 360 version is pretty plentiful.

A little late but maybe still usable tonight with B2G1 coupon or tomorrow's rumored B2G1 (no coupon required) at GS:

Culdcept Saga $10.80 GS ----> $17.50 FYE (credit)

They seem to be pretty plentiful in my area.

None are plentiful in my area. I got one 360 version and every other one is tapped out. :(
