Brink - A new kind of FPS? Out now! First DLC FREE!

Turd_Burglar.jpg

Why is he still posting in this thread? I thought he sold his PS3?

hahaha I am glad I called him a turdburglar. So much enjoyment from others.

Anyway hoping to be able to start getting 3's on the challenges

I started playing offline as the PSN was coming up... and after playing about 45 minutes and after I started to get the hang of it, I really liked it. Think it is great so far and can't wait to roll with team CAG. Now... must sleep. Tomorrow... online Brink!

Mind if I send you an invite? I've been playing with randoms and bots online for about a hour and it seems really solid.

I am up for a couple matches tonight if anyone is game? Would like to play around a bit more so I do not get totally raped before I play with you guys.

Yeah. Me too. I have only played 2 maps and it took me a bit to get used to them. No better way than diving in the deep end though.

Oh my...
Security missions seem 10x harder than Resistance. Maybe since it seems like they're mostly attacking where Resistance is mostly defending.

Anywho... feel free to add me if anyone's looking to play the Security missions online/get some of the trophies.

I probably won't keep the game, even though it is fun, simply because I've so much to play and the group I play with most often are review whores... I mean decided to pass on the game for now. ;) So if I ignore a friend request, I probably played online and finished the game already.

I'll check again today but online looked terrible graphic wise. Textures never fully rez. Wonder if it was set that way so it would run smoother, but it was still choppy for me.

A lot of my love from playing the SP has been quelled.

Online has so much lag. Stupid lag. I had one match where it was unplayable, then had another where it was playable but still had some issues. I hope they get that tightened up ASAP. The game is a good patch away from being great. Makes you wonder about them pushing the release date up instead of maybe pushing it back a few weeks.

Anyways, great potential, I just hope they get the hiccups ironed out as I love everything except the lag.

played about 2 matches online. Like I said earlier if you have a good team this game rocks but if you don't (in my case both times). Then it sucks; either everyone plays this thinking that if you frag everyone you will get more points or they all go for the objectives and not protect the one person who will inevitably get the objective thus making us lose. Funny though I was the only medic and everyone was yelling noob at me but alas I had the most point on the team since I had to revive everyone like 30 times.

lol nice yea I just beat Security with a few friends now on to resistance.

@Saint no idea I am guessing because I was not doing objectives; friends and I teamed up with a couple other guys that we found and blew through Security no problem. (resistance was mostly bots)

we should be able to team up I think that is what free play is for.

2 what-if missions and then I will be done with the campaign I really enjoy this especially with competant players. I have been getting 6k per mission.

I usually end up playing the medic in team games simply because no on else ever does. Some games it is more fun than others. Im hoping this game drops in price soon because of the low reviews so I can get it and join you guys.

alright. finally got to play with real people and i have to say, its pretty good. i'm also pretty happy that the devs are giving us free DLC. good game, but very little content. hope this makes up for that.
sorry bout last night saint, my shit froze on me
Maybe it froze because of me. I actually quit out after that last match we played as I had to drop off. Had fun. :D

I wish more people would take their time and set up a custom match making only one player on the field, and just learn the map and learn the shortcuts. I'm finding spots that have won me matches with the greatest of ease.

I'm having more problems with randoms following the AI instead of actually taking a different route. Or listening to me, no one uses mics, arrrrggg.

Man. I was doing some challenges to unlock gun mods and was getting MAD. Your team is straight stupid in that, while the opposition is on kill mode. Then I noticed you could play with other REAL people.... which has to be done.

So... who's coming with me?

I defiantly could use some help on the Tower Defense challenges. I'm only on the one star and can't for the life of get past the 3rd wave.

As for tonight, I'm done playing. This game does a really good job at raising my blood pressure.

Didn't even realize that there was a PS3 thread for this. Have had the game but haven't played it any since the PSN was down. Would be nice to play games with something of an actual group. Would also be nice to add some more people to my PSN friends list.

I used my turrets and landmines to my advantage (at three stars, the turrets get taken out quickly though). So feel free to add me and I'll help you with that tonight.

And finally played with some people last night. First time I tried I had BAAAD lag, but then tested my connection and jumped back in and worked smoothly. Good thing too, because the team I jumped into worked very well together. I played through one side of the entire campaign and we won every match (though, there was one escort mission that was very close to losing).

you cant get the challenge trophies with other people, fyi.

for tower challenge, be a heavy body since you arent really parkouring anywhere. place a turret behind the set of stairs behind the computer depot, place a mine down one of the hallways.

Another tip for Tower...
Aim for one hallway of enemies at first, then go into it. The AI didn't seem to bother me when I ran down a hallway to take a breather.

I always placed a mine right in front of the console. So when they go to take it from me, BOOM!

And I'm not sure how far you are level wise, but if you are just starting you might wait a little and buff your person up a bit to strengthen turrets or be able to use 2 mines at one time.

well honestly, the best time to do the challenges is pretty early on. the higher level you are, the harder its going to be. i think i did the last challenge (the tower) at like level 8 or something.

the thing with the landmine in front of the console is if there is 1 person there, its probably cuz you died. so youre most likely going to get over run anyway. the last wave is the one you really need to be on your toes with. i personally liked placing the mine in a hallway cuz when it goes off, it knocks down like 3 people and then i can mow them all down at once and then worry about the other doors where people are coming from.

The easiest way to do it is to make a new character and just go through all the challenges. It is near impossible if you are rank 3 or higher unless you get really lucky I almost got 3 star on the first one but my team would not stop running right into the other team and all die then respawn and repeat.

I like the campaign but really hate the challenges so many of them to do well you have to change body types. although I found it hilarious that I beat the parkour one with a heavy with 15 seconds to spare.

everything in this game single player wise gets harder the higher level you are. haha. i got a new mic guys, so i can actually communicate with you now.
hey, you know theres a trophy/achievement in the new duke nukem game called Turd Burglar. i shit you not.
Fantastic!

I haven't had a lot of time, but look to jump back into it tomorrow. Really looking forward to that patch coming out (hopefully) this week as well.

I can not get this plat'd. The only trophy I have left is that damn "You know that mine? Disarmed" trophy. AI is not being much help and online isn't of much help either. I spent hours just trying to get this stupid trophy.

yeah. thats what i did. its hard to get a mine and an AI engine near each other so i just asked my friend to come with me. i was op, he was engie and just waited till i found a mine and he disarmed it. that trophy was my last as well.

I'm still down to play. I've just been on this crysis 2 kick for awhile and the Disarmed Mine trophy and the Brinksmanship trophy are pissing me off. So yea, I'm willing to team up and put in some work. I've just been kind of all over the place on games right now.

If we can get a group of us together and just plan out a night and all team up it would be perfect. I do join in with EightBit every now and then.

If I see you playing I'll jump in anyones game, we dont have to get a night planned or anything, but it would make things a little easier.

Send me a message on the PS3 and I'll hop on. Haven't been able to find a job for shit in this fucking city to save my life so I've been glued to the TV a lot lately and filling out apps like a fucking madman. What the hell ever happened to filling out an application on paper? I hate getting rejection letters via email. It's almost as bad as someone using a red pen when analyzing a paper you wrote.

sorry haven't been on much been up at the hospital with my new son will try to play a couple matches tonight. Saw you on last night bro but have been hella tired. ~57% trophies now so really want to get some of the audio logs as that one seems to be the grind

The audio logs actually weren't too bad. The ones I didn't get from actually playing through the campaign solo or online, I found if I set up a private match where it was just me, no bots on my team or opposing side and just sat there until the end of the match (unless I HAD to complete objectives), I still got audio logs for all but two of the matches of the 16 I needed. So you could see if that works.

Anyone down for boosting the mine trophy tonight or tomorrow? Got it.

Brinkmanship is easy.
Make a 1 on 1 (or 2 on 2 with FF on, just incase your teammate decides to complete the opjective) map on something where you need to hack something... I did refuel, where you need to hack the controls to get the avionics. Keep hacking it and killing the guy until it's around 95%ish, then disguise, run over and finish the hack.

Finally got the mine trophy, some random helped me out, I was so happy. The Brinksmanship one is kinda hard, because the AI never watches your back. I really dont understand how you described it though, you can't hack anything while you're disguised.

Would the Breakout mission be the easiest to do that Trophy?
