They don't lose money, no matter how "super cheap" or limited a deal is. I don't expect it, and I never said I did. I also didn't say that I think amazon shouldn't have had the deal at all.
The company they are "price matching" lists beforehand how long their deal goes for. If I walk into that store, I won't be told that the deal is off when they still have the item on the shelves. They are different companies, different types of companies, and I know that. I don't demand this service from amazon, and I'm not going to shop elsewhere; I just think it'd be nice if I knew if something was available for a very limited time, like I know with lightning deals. Do you disagree?
Yes, at some point, they will lose money. I'm sure they do it all the time to clear out old stock. Inventory comes at a cost.
Amazon is never ever ever going to tell you how many units they have on sale. If a sale is good enough, it will get sold out quickly. That's just the way it goes. I don't understand what the issue is here. You're mad at Amazon for even bothering to have sales just cause it's limited?
This happens all the time at brick and mortar stores as well. They advertise xx units at a certain price for a certain day. When they sell out, they just don't bring any more out from the back, even if there are units in stock. Do you get mad at Target for having the sale? The only luxury that Amazon has over them is that they don't have to tell them when the sale ends -- just while supplies last. Surely you understand that supplies aren't infinite?
