If you remove the Sly games entirely, you can get everything else for under £35 which means, only one UK PSN card ($18.11/9.11)! I'm back in for every game if we go the UK route. One Sly game isn't worth $19 more, haha.

This also works but I would like to try to add Rayman Origins to the UK share if you guys do not mind.

Which would raise the cost to £82 since it is on sale for £31.99.

I've done it, pretty straight forward. I thought you had to use a 9.5mm though.

The hard drive tray on the slim ps3 will only accept the 9.5mm, but you can install the larger HD without using the tray. On the Fat ps3 I believe you can still use the tray but had to modify it slightly (not sure I have only used the larger drive on the slim).

Quick question again. With locked game saves like Mass Effect 2, will upgrading my HDD erase my saves (same console, upgraded HDD). I've sunk in more than 40 hours on that baby (not even finished yet) and it will suck if i can't play it anymore.

I can confirm my locked saves made the transfer (Mass Effect 2 is one of the particular ones I have tested), but I was transferring to a new system that I had upgraded the HD to a 1tb, not to the same system with a HD upgrade like you are doing.

Most locked saves will transfer over. All of mine did when I upgraded my harddrive.

What I read specifically mentioned "locked to console" game saves so I think it'll be fine. Can you confirm if you can still play some of the locked game save files on your same system with an upgraded HDD?

I'm sure you did the ps3 -> ps3 transfer in the XMB. It's the only way for locked game saves to transfer to another system.

If you have PlayStation Plus, you can upload locked game saves to your cloud. You can also download your save though you are allowed one download per 24 hours. However, there is no limit to the amount of save files you can upload. Be sure to use the upload wisely as you only have a cloud size of 150 MB.

The save file upload and download feature is not shareable and is available only to the account with the subscription.

Yes, I can confirm that locked save files will work on the same system with an upgraded harddrive. There may be a few that don't work, but I'm pretty sure those few are extremely limited. Actually, if you were to fully backup your harddrive you should worry more about the game data than actual saves. Some game data will cause a backup transfer to fail IIRC.

Back-up takes a god dman long time (3 hours???)

What do they back-up anyway? Are installed games backed up? Because is estimated to be 130gb and I don't have that much game data.

Everything on the harddrive is backed up, meaning game data (DLC, installed games, etc.), saves, themes, videos, music, user accounts.. everything.

Wait, I don't need to deactivate gameshare accounts and redownload all the games? It's essentially an image copy of my current HDD?

I was actually planning on doing a byte by byte digital copy of my old HDD to the new HDD so that I don't need to do anything other than plug it in.
