Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Vengeance DLC Coming July 2

I too like the new maps. but I've always thought Treyarch was far better than IW at multiplayer maps and especially the map packs. I cannot think of a single DLC map from W@W and Black Ops 1 that I didn't like but the same cannot be said of the MW2 and very much the opposite can be said for the MW3 DLC maps.

I should also have the Gold/Diamond Peacekeeper camo unlocked tonight since I knocked out the 100 headshots pretty quickly and already half-way through the no perk/attachment camo kills. Also, as I was telling friends last night, you don't ever have to worry about running out of ammo for it right now since the battlefield is covered in them for resupplies w/out scavenger :D

Gonna concur that Grind is a bit out-of-place and somewhat shitty.

The Peacekeeper is very good if not slightly too powerful. Good accuracy, low weight, and just an efficient killing machine.

Read about unlocking diamond camo. fuck that. Just gonna stick to my gold camo on my MP7. Lemme know when that shit becomes a two-dollar unlock.

Diamond camo isn't anything special if you don't have to work for it.

And even then some people boost for it like dickbags anyway.

I got all my diamond camos the hard-working, old-fashioned way :D Finished off the Peacekeeper camo as well tonight. The gun is really growing on me and I think they balanced it well (slower rate of fire and fairly small clip)

So, I've been getting back into this game after about a 3 month hiatus. It seems they've fixed most of the bugs and the small glitches that were prevalent in the very beginning. Is it just me, or have they addressed many of the major concerns?

They haven't reduced the clip size of the PDW yet, no.
They haven't reduced the clip size of the PDW yet, no.
And that's a bug or glitch how?

I have no complaints of the PDW. Got my first nuclear with it, with no perks too. Took me 9 brutals before finally getting the nuclear, but it wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be.

Because he keeps getting killed by it, but he doesn't have the Revolution map pack so he can't make a class with it. Hence, he's jealous.

You should really spot check your posts.

It's 50 round clip is larger than any other weapon in the game bar LMGs. And unlike LMGs, it doesn't have a stupid-long reload time, so you can spray your entire clip down and be ready for more in a second. It's the smg for people with shit aim who should be running out of bullets, but instead just keep holding right trigger.

Of course, I also think that Hijacked is a terrible map, but everybody keeps voting for it.

But even if it has a big clip, you still have to hit them since while the clip may be big it has the lowest damage of all SMGs, and one of the lowest damages of all guns (MTAR being same damage, M8A1 and M27 being 1 less). The PDW is just a futuristic P90.

Personally the bigger clip is great for me or anyone else who likes running since you can run into a room of 3-4 guys without having to worry about getting shot reloading after killing 2 people.

All of the SMGs are overpowered, really. With the smallest sized maps yet and the worst spawns to date, they're like insta-kill guns. Crazy rate of fire; damage drop off doesn't matter anymore because all the maps are so small.

As someone who only uses SMGs, primarily the Vector, I agree.

Last week, I went something like 89-26 on Nuketown in a Hardpoint game, which isn't entirely irregular. Once I hit 100 kills in a single match, I pretty much have no reason to continue playing.

I feel you, I just hit Prestige Master today, and feel like I have been set free to play other games now.

Played hardcore team deathmatch tonight on Aftermath. Was spawn killed three times from mid-short range (within like 3-4 seconds at most)!!! Is it too extreme to believe a safe spawn should exist 6v6 on Aftermath?

They finally made paid DLC camo. I'll probably pick up a few. Bacon camo certainly looks interesting.

Each camo comes with a matching calling card and themes reticles for the red dot/holo/acog sights.

Extra CaC slots are also up for sale. I don't see the need, but if people are willing to pay...

That is funny. You don't see the need for additional CaC slots but for bacon camo you do.

I don't see the need for any of it. The extra camos/reticles are neat, but don't really do anything. I do, however, really enjoy Bacon.

You can use prestige tokens to unlock extra CaC slots. Why pay? Today I read more and it seems extra slots are also opened up for pictures and videos for your fileshare. That does seem a little more usefully.

Dunno if it's still active, but, once upon a time, there was a very active CAG social group with a ton of Call of Duty players.

I bought the money camouflage and extra slots. You get a ton of extra slots. Didn't expect categories. You also get a boost from 10 video save slots to 40, if you're into that sorta thing. (I'm a solitary player but like to save a lot of replays, so it works for me.)

Deleted the first map pack to boost my chances of playing Nuketown in moshpit. Hydro and Skate are good maps, tho. Just trying to achieve 100 kills. Went something like 98-28 earlier in the week on Nuketown in a Headquarters match. So close. Stupid team captured at the end so I couldn't respawn with 30 seconds left while I had that clusterbomb thing and the enemy-seeking-glider thing.

When's the next map pack due? Hopefully, the maps are smaller.
Is there a CAG clan for BLOPS II? I tried searching for thread dedicated to it, but this was the closest I found. Thanks.
I play pretty often. Not sure if a CAG clan still exists or is active. I originally joined one for Modern Warfare 3, but then joined another soon after release because all of my local friends were in it.

I've done 100 kills about 4 or 5 times, and I think most of them had been on Demolition on Nuketown. Do you use lethal scorestreaks? I usually only use UAV/Counter/VSAT when I get 100.

Interesting, sir.

That combination makes sense. Give yourself multiple eyes on the enemy and squash their ability to see ya. Sounds good.

I use- Lemme Google search the proper names- I use the hunter-killer drone, Hellstorm missile, and Lightning strike. If I'm on a roll, it's an endless cycle. I went something like 46-0 the other day. I have a screengrab of that up on Twitter. 'Twas on Nuketown, of course. I have come to only use the R870 MCS with laser sight and long barrel. Sorta unstoppable on Nuketown, Cargo, Slums, and sometimes Standoff. However, on larger maps, I'm less effective. But then again, I rarely play the larger maps. ;)

I think I just don't like when I have to go prone and hide while using lethals like the Hellstorm/Lightning Strike.

Wanted to ask the community a question. I had a hardcore match tonight where I started out 0-9 and it felt like I was always just missing the opponent or was a second or two off. Then things got weird. I aimed at a UAV with my SMAW and the screen froze for a split second, the connection symbol appeared, then I got shot. Respawned and looked up extremely quickly at the UAV and was shot before I could lock on. Now I proceed to get killed 5 or 6 more times and every single time the third person killcam looked directly up at the sky (you don't get a killcam in hardcore, but you get an idea where the kill came from). I was getting shot, but the camera was pointing towards the sky like I was struck by a Hunter Killer.

Was something strange going on, or am I just being paranoid?

maybe just connection issue. sometimes i can tell when im a little behind everyone or especially host and i just get murdered.

so i'm try to get that triple cap emblem on domination where you control all 3 points for 3 min, the opposite team had 41 points before we reached score limit, is that not enough?? They only had 2 players at one point in the match. Its the last emblem i need to get that Shark w/ Machine gun calling card

Hey guys, whats your advice on a ballistic knife class? i was just trying it out to have some fun, i like having the ax and scavenger, but they might not be needed. also messing around with the tac 45 w/ long barrel

The opponents score is pretty irrelevant. You need to maximize the number of points with 3 positions capped and minimize points with 1 or 2.

What is it, a point per position per second? If you score too many points with one or two positions captured you'll reach the score limit before those 3 minutes elapse.

The update also adds Nuketown to "most" playlists according to the official Treyarch Twitter account.

Treyarch has always been the better Call of Duty company. They actually seem to care about the game and the players.

As for Uprising: Magma looks neat, Encore looks like something outta Rainbow Six Vegas, Vertigo looks like that airport map from Modern Warfare 2(?), and Studio is said to be a remake of Firing Range—which is probably my favorite map from the first Black Ops.

All that said: I prefer small maps. Deleted the first map pack because the maps were too big. Hopefully Uprising is worth keeping.
Anyone see any Mob of the Dead achievements yet? Not big on the zombies but still interested in the cheevies
The story is decent and fun to play through. Overall I'm pleased with the zombie DLC. They are trying lots of new things like being able to carry multiple parts, brought back traps, new wonder weapon and a couple other smaller aspects (demon dogs, spawn able bosses etc).

A majority of the achievements aren't hard and can be solo'd
ps3 guy here, whats the consensus on the new maps from the xbox guys?
Studio (shooting range remake) is still awesome.

Encore is good. Offers some line sites, but nothing easy to hold down. Spawning is meh.

Magma was a decent try. Not bad, just not great. Plenty if head glitch spots. Spawning is pretty decent on this map for the most part (depending on game mode). Biggest slap in the face is the Magma. Some spots you can stand on piping hot magma (bright orange) and be fine then next time you step on a slightly charred ground (barely orange) and die. Also they touted how the magma "flowed" and in trailers they show it flowing, BUT they apparently scrapped it completely.

Vertigo is probably the worst. There's a reason why they scrapped it in a previous CoD. Not the worst map in BO2, but not good. Long line sites that can easily be impenetrable as half the map is open. Easy to fall off ( I kind of like that, but it is annoying at times). Plenty of head glitch spots also. Basically 2 long line if sights on the sides and then a cluster area in the middle. Bomb locations are also pretty bad as they lead you out into the open that defense can easily secure faster than offense can get there. Overall bad map design.

Overall the map pack is alright. studio by far redeems it on the MP side. Without it I would feel the map pack wasn't worth it.

hmm well good to hear Studio & Encore are good, im looking forward to those. you have me worried about dat lava, its gotta be consistent or not at all. vertigo sounds like a sniper fest with smoke & dual band, kill confirmed might be interesting on that one.

I think this map is above and beyond better than the first. I personally wasn't a fan of the first. It wasn't so much that I hated the maps, I just thought the original maps were better (except for Aftermath which is probably my most hated maps right next to Seelow from World at War).

I mostly play Kill Confirmed, so here is my input on the maps based on that game mode, Domination, and TDM.

Studio really doesn't need much of an explanation. If you liked Firing Range, you'll like it as nothing has changed.

Encore is really good for KC and I'm not a huge fan of it for Domination. Can't remember what flag is which, but the one that is in the lower courtyard seems to have an advantage at getting B. To me it is one of the better designed maps with a lot of fighting in the middle, but very easy to flank on the outskirts due to not too many people watching them.

Vertigo is a very fun map for both Domination and Kill Confirmed and seems to be one of the better balanced maps for Domination. For KC, it seems like the opposite of Encore where most of the action takes place on the outsides. Also to the previous post, this wasn't the same map that was scrapped. The previous one scrapped was a IW map for MW2 that was supposedly scrapped for being too similar to Highrise.

Magma is another one that I think was well done. I can't really say I've ran into the problems that the previous post mentioned about the inconsistency of the magma killing you. I think I have died twice from it and both times I accidentally strafed a little too far into it while shooting at someone. It has decent sight lines and consists mostly of three main pathways of two streets and a rail line/platform. It is another map that can be easy to flank on if a team tends to overcrowd one side. I am also wondering what happened with the flowing magma though (besides the small river that is flowing consistently like a river through the center of the map).

I really don't see the "head glitch" that so many people talk about. On these four maps, I can only think of one spot and that is on Magma on the upper street outside of the only building you can enter on that side next to a gray box. I know there are some spots in the original maps, but even then I don't really have too much of a problem getting the people that try it.

You really think vertigo is good for Dom? B is just a cluster of bulletstorms. That's alright and all, but on the helipad side one good sniper or LMG can hold it down completely as there is too long of sight lines and not a good way to flank as the middle is the only way around. The opposite side (near B flag) is decent but the second you walk out of that room there's that marble statue that can be a massive pain if the person behind it is good. Also the ramp up from the original spawn is just wide open with that box on the corner so upper ground is a little too good.

These become more glaring when playing SnD as you normally have to play the waiting game because defense can set up too easily and faster than offense can. Meaning offense has to wait out the defense and hope they become impatient or over think their strategy.

And to describe encore better to those that haven't played it. Its basically a giant oval with 5 ways into the middle where B flag is (also has an overlooking window and a stage with scaffolding). The only area that I wish they would have done differently is the side opposite the stage. Its one hallway with only a stack of boxes on one side. Way too open and easy to camp. Besides that, its actually a pretty well designed map as the middle has just enough clutter to not make it sniper heaven. Although I laughed at what they said in the trailer about "holding the stage being pivotal". Its rather open and if you are holding it you're definitely doing amazing as its easily overtaken. B flag isn't even on the stage! Why would they not throw the flag up there?

But for those zombie seekers, Mob of the Dead is fun. Just completed the achievements (with a little help where we got stuck) and its pretty good. Not the best map ever for those that want to hit high rounds as its not set up very well for that, but to do the EEs and mess around its pretty good. Also the new mystery box looks epic. It also has some very fun new weapons in the box and for the first time a "quest" melee weapon which is simply OPed. That and the Hell's Retriever tomahawk is fun to mess around with.

Finally played some grief on Alcatraz. Its actually much better than the other maps. The only thing that is both good and bad is there's no Jug. I like it as it makes you pay attention, but then there are always the windmill zombies that double hit you in a split second which annoys the heck out of you. Besides that its pretty enjoyable. No real "run in circles" spots that the rest of the grief maps had which makes it interesting.
