[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!
If you're talking about the 3DS branded one, yeah, that's gone for good (just watched one sell for $10 or so in a lowball). You should still be able to get the Animal Crossing/Navy Blue ones that include styluses for 600. And thanks for all the good comments on the OP:D
Also to clarify, the Animal Crossing and Navy Blue DS cases won't hold the 3DS carts unless you modify them to fit the nub.

good to know, I haven't got a 3DS so I didn't realize
december. i ordered one to give to a friend as a christmas gift. im not sure how many times theyve restocked them, but i definitely ordered it on two different occasions.

they tend to go quick since theyre relatively cheap and very practical.

Do you remember when they last restocked it? Just curious how long ago it was.
The last one I ordered was on February 8th. I ordered my first in December. I still haven't filled up my first one but am only two games away from it. They are extremely practical and well made though not worth the 35 they are going for on ebay. I hope they restock again as I would not mind having a third... just in case. I dont know what I would do if I had to store one of my carts somewhere else.

So I really want the Animal Crossing case, but its for DS not 3DS.

Will the stylii fit in the 3DS and will the case hold its games?

No, the Styli are specifically for the DS, but it shouldn't matter since they're housed in the DS case. Also, as I mentioned earlier the Animal Crossing case will not house 3DS games.

it was confirmed a few posts up that it won't hold 3DS games without some modification. From what it looks like, it seems the styluses won't fit either, but I can't confirm this. Look at your 3DS stylus, and compare it to a picture of a DS lite stylus. If it looks more like an actual pen, and less like a stick of plastic, it's probably more akin to the DSi XL stylus which obviously is much larger than the standard ones. Again, this is pretty much guess work, so anyone that actually has them should chime in.

EDIT: I always seem to post unnecessarily long replies. Namurashi beat me to it.

I have the Animal Crossing case (brought it when it was on sale for 350pts).
It was made for DS games, but it will indeed hold 3ds games (the fit is a little tight).
The stylus fit the 3ds xl but not perfectly, it sticks out a little bit (less than 1mm)

This is why I said it'd work if you want to mod it (snip it where the nub of the 3DS cart will go), although it won't be holding a lot of games. Constantly using it for 3DS games will wear it down because it's made out of a foam type dealie but it definitely does look nice. I kinda wish I bit the bullet and got one when that Luigi sale was going on but I figured with the 3DS case I wouldn't need one.

I do like my 3ds case I got off club nintendo. Same size as a traditional 3ds case, so fits nicely with the rest.
Most cases are pretty bad, where I feel like Im going to break the cart taking it out.
The CN case feels perfect, really glad I got one. Ill pick up another next time they pop up.
$35 on ebay is crazy.
$7 or less and holds more:

Kohls used to sell them for $4.
Nice! Thanks for the heads up. I have the Club Nintendo 3DS holder but I am starting to run out of room. This will be a nice substitute to hold my extras and to bring for traveling since I would rather not scuff up my club nintendo case. Several reviews do mention this not being very durable and how it can break easily but for the price it will do.
Ahhh, just realized I missed a 50 point Nintendo Land survey from the Wii U. I'm an idiot.
Sadly I have done this as well but mostly for some post play surveys. I think sometime last year or so Nintendo shortened the deadlines on the surveys. Probably because a lot of people (like me) would wait until after the points reset to do the other surveys and get bumped up again easily instead of taking them in a timely manner.

Maybe someone can help me out here. Just joined, figured why not. Are the 5 pt games in the 3DS section all downloadable titles on their shop or are they games on retail shelves? I'm making a mobile check-off list for shopping purposes and I want to know which titles are physical copies only.

Thanks for posting this OP! I never even realized Club Nintendo existed to be honest. I had like 10 games + my 3DS XL that had codes sitting inside!

Now, if only they'd offer more downloadable games as prizes I'd be set.

I did a quick scan of the list and it looks like they're all downloadable-only titles.

They are Virtual Console and E-Shop games. They have a lower point value because they generally cost less (not taking sales into account). Typically, it's about 10 points for every $10, with a few exceptions like the Pokemon games. All 3DS games that are on the E-Shop should qualify for points, so you don't really have to worry. There does seem to be certain titles that are download only though, such as Code of Princess, so I would just go through the list and find all the games that don't say Download next to them. Or you can use this list:

There will be a new round of games available on April 7th.

If we redeem Super Punch Out, will that be eligible for the discounted $1/$1.50 upgrade cost when/if it comes to the WiiU virtual console?

Typically, it's about 10 points for every $10, with a few exceptions like the Pokemon games. All 3DS games that are on the E-Shop should qualify for points, so you don't really have to worry. There does seem to be certain titles that are download only though, such as Code of Princess, so I would just go through the list and find all the games that don't say Download next to them.
Sorry if this wasn't what you were asking, your post's wording has me a bit confused:whee:
This list does seem to be what I'm looking for, I'll have to double-check with the site to be sure though. I was asking if any of those 5 pt games were 3DS titles that are sold in an actual case with a manual or if they were only sold on the eShop. To be honest, I don't have a 3DS yet (or a Wii U) and didn't even use the Wii Shop on my old Wii. Those consoles do have me intrigued however and I'd like to get them when I have some money to spare. In the meantime, I'm just looking to buy games with Club Nintendo codes in them if I happen to see them on clearance.

Got some more questions too if you don't mind helping me out. I'm coming here from the Square Enix Members thread and their FAQ just laid it all out for me. Nintendo's FAQ is good, but not perfect. Here goes:

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier
- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?

Yes, you can keep your coins for as long as you want. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 1st-july 31st) they are redeemed in.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier

These are all good questions, so I'm going to go ahead and add them to the OP:D

Coins actually do expire, after 2 years I believe.

really? I have some in my account that I can't remember when I redeemed them it was so long ago. I will investigate....

EDIT: You're right, guess they are more recent than I thought. Will update the OP

Yeah they expire in 2 years. You can see how many coins will expire by going to coin tab under your account settings.

I've never had any coins expire, so I assumed they were valid forever. Sorry for the misinformation, I'll make sure to double check my answers from now on:whistle2:(

No worries I just want to let you know they do so none of them get wasted. I'm still new to Club Nintendo so I just found this out recently. Hope the platinum gift is better than what was offered last year since this is my first time reaching it.

I think it was a statue of Mario/Peach/Bowser/(possibly Luigi) last year, which seemed pretty nice to me. I only hit gold though, so I got a mini calender (which I also thought was cool lol)

Nope, last year Platinum was a choice between some posters or a deck of Mario playing cards.

That is the year before (2011 2010)
Last year's platinum prize was horrible, it was a set of posters or a deck of card (one or the other, not both).
NoA is doing a lousy job running Club Nintendo. The prizes are rarely updated and are inferior to prizes offered in other territories.

edit:
iaacp is right, the figure is from 2010 not 2011

Wrong again! It was the year before *that*.

2012 - Posters or cards
2011 - Collection of NES Pins or something else (hat, I believe)
2010 - Plastic Mario statue or something else

wow, I'm clearly behind the times. I think I got a PS3 in 2010, so I wasn't buying as many nintendo titles. Doesn't sound like I missed out on much. Posters really?*shakes head*

I agree, although the posters from last year were much better than the pin set from the previous year. I have the Luigi's Mansion one framed and it glows in the dark. :)

And just so no one gets confused anymore..

Platinum Rewards:

2009 - Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! OR Club Nintendo Mario Plush Hat
2010 - Club Nintendo Figurine (Came in "?" Block Box)
2011 - Mario & Friends Pin Badge Collection
2012 - Club Nintendo Poster Set OR Platinum Playing Cards

I saw the set of cards in person, and to be fair they're really nice quality. Although I do agree they've been severely lacking since 2010. lol

Added it to the OP (minus the links). If anyone has a list of Gold rewards, I can add those too

EDIT: Added links

I ended up picking the cards last year, I was pretty happy with them being that it was my first Club Nintendo platinum reward.

I foolishly got the Doc Louis game the first year. Still haven't fired it up. Never did beat Punch-Out . . .
I can't wait, I bet the prize this year is gonna be a Luigi Plush Hat since it's his year and all
I really hope it's something Luigi related. I would love a figure with him and some ghosts as well.

On an unrelated note. YOU'RE THE CAG IN MY AREA SWEEPING UP ALL THE DEALS! >:O

Alright, so I'm new to this whole Club Nintendo thing. I just hit 300 coins and got Gold status. What does that mean? I get that you get something I guess, but I don't understand the year thing.

Also didn't take much to hit 300, just a 3DS XL, Luigi's Mansion, and LoZ: OoT

So is it if I reach 300 more points before July, I get the Platinum reward?

yep. The CN years start on June 1st, and end on july 31st the following year. After that the counter resets, but you have another year to use your points. You will probably get a choice between a calendar and a downloadable game for gold, and platinum will probably be a limited edition physical item.

The Club Nintendo year actually runs from July 1st to June 30th.

Last year the Gold rewards had games and Platinum can choose Gold Rewards so I just got Metroid II for 3DS.

Platinum is not worth it, IMO.

Can't decide if I should register my XL or wait and use it for next year. I really want Kid Icarus but I already platted this year and my coin supply is usually pretty tight. :(
