[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I hit 3400 so far this year, im to impatient to wait a year! But the way I get my points, I should have no problem getting platinum every year! This has been a great first year with club nintendo!

If you people with tons and tons of points want to make a few bucks let me know. I'm interested Mario 64 and kirby pinball.
Wish nintendo just do what square enix does with tiers rewards. Hate that platinum only gets to choose one or the other rewards. Plats should get both. Heres hoping this years plat is worth while
I really do like the calendars so I do wish we could get both.

I just got one a few weeks back too and I can't seem to put it down either. I did the same thing going nuts buying games for it and also hit platinum from it. We even bought mostly the same games too. Lol
no. the number resets each year. exceeding 600 has no benefit
Yeah. I thought the same thing after I got to 650 coins.:whistle2:#

Gonna hold off entering more till the next cycle, unless they have the gold nunchuk or something.

Gotta remember to spend them, too!

Ok.... So I've a 3DS and XL in the past (no need to get into their stories) and I'll be getting another XL again. I'm wondering to get the free game will I need to register BOTH the game and the new XL on the same "family member"? I'm just curious because I'm not sure where I registered my first XL so I want to make sure nothing gets screwed up. Since Target is having the XL at $179 next week and I have a $20 RZC I'll be able to PM it and get my XL for $159 plus a free game.

just create a new family member and register it there, then you should have no problems;)

Will do, I'll just make another new one and do both of them there... I remember it was weird (and un-intuitive) to add a family member when I did it last time but guess I'll figure it out.
I asked about the wii fit games and ended up buying 13 total.

So far I'm 2 for 2 with unused codes. I used to the 200 pts immediately to get Super Mario 64.
There are multiple versions of wii fit.

actually, you just create new family members. Each member can register the game, and it all pools into one main account.

True, but there's a Wii Fit w/pad, Wii Fit w/o pad, Wii Fit Plus w/pad and Wii Fit Plus w/o pad. They each can be registered on your account for a whopping shit ton of coins.

true as well, but the ones people are buying in bulk are just the base game. Im just trying to remove the confusion as best I can;)

For Square Enix rewards, there's an identifying code that signifies which game that code is for and for what console it is. I was looking through some of my codes and noticed that the majority of the Club Nintendo booklets have a similar code. Now, although Club Nintendo codes are easier to keep track of thanks to the pictures on the booklet, some of them are fairly ambiguous. I was wondering if anyone wanted to help me start a database on these?
Nintendo has a list of all the eligible games that count here, plus how many coins you earn for said game/system.
Yes, but I'm talking about if I have a loose code without a game/case. Some of them are fairly obvious (like the Pokemon titles), but some are extremely obscure. Like Fortune Street just has a picture of a die. Spirit Camera just has a picture of an eye. Art Academy for the DS doesn't have a picture of anything, its just an ad for Nintendo Power. See what I mean? With a database, it'd take the guessing game out of it.

Just enter the code into Club Nintendo while you are signed out. It will tell you what game the code is for and how many coins it is worth.

Never knew that, quite cool. I always got in the habit of writing the name of the game on the paper.
Woo hoo got Mario 64 & Paper Mario always wanted to play those 2 games never got the chance
When was Paper Mario available for coins?

Is there a way to tell if a code has been used or not? Sometimes I buy "new" Nintendo games at GameStop and it's impossible to tell if those "new" games' codes have been used. I don't want to use the codes, I just want to check to see if they're unused.

As was already explained, all you have to do is enter the code whilst signed out. Seems this should be added to the OP.

So I bought a 3DS XL, bought Luigi's Mansion and got the free game. If I make a family account on that account, can I still register a new XL, game, and still get another downloadable game free? And all those points would pool?

I had already read that other post. That doesn't explain whether or not the code's been used. It could easily just tell me what game it's for and how much it's worth without verifying if it's been used or not. I don't know how Nintendo's set up their system. In addition, I want to make sure that entering my code in doesn't use the code up. I've entered codes in for other things where they'd force me to sign in or else I just wasted the code.

It will only tell you what game its for and the amount of points if its active. Otherwise it simply states its already been used.

EDIT: sorry feel free to delete my post as somehow I mustve clicked the wrong thread and didnt notice. I thought i was in the iOS thread and was surprised to see 3+ pages back have nothing to do with it. Ironically that tends to happen in that thread. again moderators feel free to delete my post.
This may be a stupid Question, but if I get super metroid can I redeem/play the game on my wiiu?
You'll be able to play it through the Wii interface on the Wii U. When the Virtual Console officially launches next week on the Wii U you'll be able to spend a $1-$1.50 per title to bring them over. You'd be better off just picking Super Metroid up when it goes on sale next month for $0.30.

Hmm... need to find a way to grab 90 more coins before Mario 64 goes off sale...

Just wait until next month's 30 cent promo for it and buy it then. Otherwise you'll buy it with coins and spend a dollar to transfer it to the Wii U.

Why would you do that when it'll be $0.30 next month?

Is this official now from Nintendo? Or do you just mean buy them again?

Actually, to be 100% correct, the only way to really tell if a code has been redeemed without registering it is to try to register a game on an account that has already had that title redeemed. If you enter in a code without being signed in, all it will tell you is the game that the code is associated with, the number of coins you get, and prompting you to register with Club Nintendo.

I just registered another Wii Fit code today, and after logging out and reentering it on CN, I get the standard message as described above (the code is LEN7WDXLUSMQKM for those that want to see what I'm talking about). Try entering that code without being logged into CN, and then try it again after logged in.

In short, the only way that you can truly tell if a code is unused without adding it to your To Do survey list (which the initial survey only lasts for one week) is to check with someone you trust that has already registered that specific game on their account. Attempting to register the game then will let you know if the code has been used or not without redeeming the code.

Thanks for clearing that up, I thought their system was intuitive enough to give the same message that an already redeemed code would give while logged in while also logged out.

Thanks for the info, I was not aware of this trick.

Thanks for testing that out and providing an example!

If you mean the 30 cent promo, then yes, that'll start next month, on the 15th.

If you mean the transfer fee, yeah, All NES games will be $1 and SNES will be $1.50, and that's all official information.
So I bought a 3DS XL, bought Luigi's Mansion and got the free game. If I make a family account on that account, can I still register a new XL, game, and still get another downloadable game free? And all those points would pool?
Anyone know the answer to this?
