[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!
Now can we get Pokemon Pinball too? :)
Seconded! And I know it's not on the eShop, but I've been wanting to play Pokemon Pinball R/S for a long time. Also, Pokemon Puzzle League. I demand these games!
Wow great games for the Wii. If those games are moved to the Wii U are they compatible with the gamepad?
If you spend the $1 for NES or $1.50 for SNES, then yes. Otherwise, they can only be played via the Wii Menu app, which you'll need a Wiimote/Classic Controller.
Copped Super Metroid. I guess I jumped too soon? Where do we find out what games are going to be .30 cents?
April: Kirby's Adventure
May: Super Metroid
June: Yoshi
July: Donkey Kong

Just an FYI for those that don't already know, if you need some coins for the monthly prizes, go stop by your local Gamestop for copies of Wii Fit (the first one, game only), currently it's a part of the 50% sale for $0.49. Even for the replacement case alone this is a good price.

I've bought about two dozen of them here or there over the past 6 months, and I'd say over half of them had unused codes, just ask for it at the counter (the ones they keep back there are less likely to be code-pilfered). Each valid code is worth 100 coins, so you can create a few family members to register more than one copy, or trade it up for unique codes here on CAG.

wow, good find:applause: I'm about 180 short of getting gold (I don't buy as many nintendo games lately), so if I could find two unused copies for $1 that'd be great;) does gamestop allow you to buy more than one copy at once? don't want to get banned or anything:cold:

This seems like it should be on the first post of this thread

I redeemed enough coins this year to hit platinum three times =O
Have about another 1k in unredeemed coins too.

I've bought as many as three in one trip no problem, usually buy two if I'm getting more than one game to keep. That way I can swap the cases around for the best match.

In actuality they would prefer you buy as many as you want to, each GS I've been to has had plenty of stock, which is why they have priced it so cheap to get rid of them.

I should probably go ahead and buy a few of the Wii Fits, just for the coins. On the plus side, if that fails, I got myself some new cases for the Wii Stuff.

it has nothing to do with club nintendo. There's no catch-all nintendo deals thread

Games for $0.30? I'm confused, what games are $.30 on the Wii/U?

YMMV but everyone should check their To Do list/email for a bonus survey worth 10 points. It's all about 3DS games, and looks like a general market awareness survey. Only took 5 or so minutes, which is worth the 10 points to me:D But it expires today, so best hurry on over!

Just redeemed about 1200 points for the game and watch ball, which I will likely just sell at amazon for a nice profit...

Probably have another 500-600 points in unopened games Ive had in my collection for a while, though opening them for a few measly points isnt worth losing the value on them games

I got an email about that today so I went over there and did it. Now I'm sitting at 100 coins. Just need 100 more for Mario 64 now.
probably a silly question, but do you need a classic controller to play Mario 64 and supermetorid on the wii?
Yes, you need either a classic controller or a Gamecube controller.

yay! finally reached platinum for this year. now to waiting begins. hopefully this year's platinum rewards won't be as awful as last year's playing cards

Sorry guys, I'm new to Nintendo club and am sort of confused and have another question about the Gold/Platinum rewards.

The way I thought I worked was, the coins/status you earn from July 2012-June 2013 were the coins/status you used to get the 2012 rewards. And the coins/status you earned from July 2013-June 2014 were the coins/status you used to get the 2013 rewards. If that's not correct then when do start collecting coins/platinum status to earn the 2013 rewards?

It may be the other way around... 2012 - 2013 = 2013 Reward

I started adding coins since Jan '13 and I haven't received anything from the 2012 Platinum rewards this far. In fact, have yet to receive any word on the Platinum reward, so I'm assuming we wait for the 2013 reveal.

Well, that's how I thought it was. But I got to Gold a couple days ago, and when I got the 300 coins a message popped up asking me if I wanted to redeem a reward. I clicked on redeem but the page didn't load and the browser crashed. After that I couldn't figure out how to get back to that page :/
it has nothing to do with club nintendo. There's no catch-all nintendo deals thread
yeah, I think I'll just included it as a note on games that are currently available (only super Metroid at the moment). Don't want this thread to get to derailed, but just trying to help everyone that might not know.

EDIT: Updated the OP a bit, let me know if it's alright now

The fiscal year ends June 30 2013. They usually announce the rewards around that time. They will send you an email asking which reward you want, depending if you have gold or platinum.

Gold = Calendar (unless they decided to change that)
Platinum = something new every year. Last year was playing cards and the year before that was a Mario figure....which is up for coins/points/stars on the EU and JPN sites actually.

If you don't like the Platinum reward, you can always chose the Gold reward. If have Gold, you have to get the Gold reward.

I manage to reach Plat this year. I hope they have something good.
Does anyone know the cutoff date for when we must reach platinum to qualify for the platinum reward?

Do we still have a lot of time?
I think June 30th is the last day.

rewards for all rewards program have gotten crappier every year. Only exception was the CN pins, that was lowest of the low.... so far.

If anyone needs some points to reach gold/ platinum pm me. I have 2 codes for wii fit worth 100 each! (fyi I am giving these away, not looking to trade!)

EDIT: GONE!

Alright, guys, @TKSJOHN gave me one of his codes, but I doubt I'll use it now. I'm willing to trade it for $3 on the eshop, $2 in payal or any other trades you might have.

I kid, i kid. Thank you, @TKSJOHN, I am now Papapaaplatinum! I feel warm & special.

That's a nice CAG!

@Breakfuss, your so funny as I read this from my phone. I almost thought you were serious til I scrolled down.

Lets hope platinum isn't crap cause there are a lot of people reaching it this year.

So, you don't play the games? You just collect? Seems silly to have something you're not going to play. But to each his own.
Lets hope platinum isn't crap cause there are a lot of people reaching it this year.
I've only reached Platinum once before this year. But only cause I was thinking, "I wanna reach Platinum this year!" And that was for the Mario gang figure. Which is cool, but I as earlier, that figure is available on the EU and JPN site, with a different base. A bit disappointing.

I've stayed at Gold because I wanted the calendar (cause it's cool) and it was a good thing too, as I didn't want the 25th Anniversary pins or the playing cards. I was gonna stay at Gold this year too, but I wasn't paying any attention to my coins when I register them and realized that I was like a 100 away to Plat. Might as well, right?

Even if you plat, you can choose to get the gold reward instead.
I'm 50 away from Platinum, hope I make it in time lol
Wel you still have 2+ months. Theres bound to be a game youll pick within that time frame. Hehe

Wish nintendo just do what square enix does with tiers rewards. Hate that platinum only gets to choose one or the other rewards. Plats should get both. Heres hoping this years plat is worth while
If anyone needs some points to reach gold/ platinum pm me. I have 2 codes for wii fit worth 100 each! (fyi I am giving these away, not looking to trade!)

EDIT: GONE!
Thank you sir for the code! It is appreciated.

Thanks man. I just wanted to make sure because I have a few Wii games I haven't registered yet that will give me about 250 coins. And I wasn't interested in the Mario cards so I didn't want to waste them if they went towards them. So after I register the Wii games I'll only need 50 more coins for Platinum!

I don't know about you guys but I'm hoping for some sort of Zelda statue this year.

How has no one figured out that the platinum prize will probably be luigi related? It's the year of luigi so obviously they are probably going to promote that with club Nintendo as well
So, you don't play the games? You just collect? Seems silly to have something you're not going to play. But to each his own.
I reached 1300 points just from games I have opened any played, so if I was just "collecting" I would have NO points

I buy the games cheaply through deals or whatever when purchased... I have a life with wife and children that doesnt allow me hours a day to play games... if I ever get down to playing them, I do, though in certain cases, its been more worth it to me to sell the sealed game at a huge price and buy a used copy of the game cheaply, in most of those cases I make money

If I get around to deciding I am not ever going to play the game, it goes up for sale, sold off a sealed Civil War 360 game this week for close to 85 after amazon fees that I purchased here for $10 a few years back
Just an FYI for those that don't already know, if you need some coins for the monthly prizes, go stop by your local Gamestop for copies of Wii Fit (the first one, game only), currently it's a part of the 50% sale for $0.49.

Thank you so much for this post billy. I was driving around today and went to 3 gamestops to check out the 50% off games. I asked about the wii fit games and ended up buying 13 total. I told the employees what I was buying them for and I think some of them were just happy to be rid of all these copies taking up room.

So far I'm 2 for 2 with unused codes. I used to the 200 pts immediately to get Super Mario 64. It also put me over the edge and gave me Platinum for this year. So for .88 cents I sort of got a Super Mario 64 download voucher and a platinum reward.

For the past couple hours I sat down and played Mario 64 for the first time. I shows it's age, but I definitely understand why it is considered such a groundbreaking game for it's time. This would have blown my mind in 1996 when it was released.

Thanks again. I'm thinking for the other 11 copies, maybe should I create a new account? I've already reached platinum on one account. I should have at least enough on a 2nd new account to get gold because I have a shyteload of other games to redeem. This way I guess I could end up getting both platinum and gold rewards. Has anyone here done this before?

I noticed one of the Wii fit games had a Wii Fit Plus disc inside. I feel bad and will take it back, but the store is about 10 miles away. I'll put it in my car and give it back when I'm in the area. I see they sell it for $19.99 pre-owned (and MSRP for a new copy is $19.99 ).

Happy to help, but I wouldn't make a new account. Nintendo has frozen duplicate accounts in the past (those trying to get multiple yearly awards), and that has translated to lost coins on the frozen accounts. Creating new family members is perfectly fine (since all the coins go towards one account), but making a completely separate account is done so at your own risk.

Wow. I'm glad I asked. I'll just save the other games for 2014 and 2015.

Thanks again.

I've never played Super Metroid. The only thing I know about Metroid is from old X-Play sketches. I'm thinking I might have to download that also for 150 pts. There's no way I'll be buying a Wii U in the next couple months, so I won't be able to get it for .30 cents.
