[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Sweet. Finally going to get Dillon's Rolling Western.
I was about to until I read that it uses Kid Icarus style controls. Icarus was fun, but it's not a portable experience for me, IE I can't play it on the bus, etc. because of the way you have to hold the 3DS, so I know I won't get around to playing it.

It's no charing cradle, but Club Nintendo just put up A Link Between Worlds Poster set for 500 coins.  They look pretty good if you ask me, but not sure if they would be worth the 500 asking price.

They do look awesome but 500 coins for some posters is not really worth it for me. Rather have a link figurine or anything other than something that can be just printed in paper.

I had 500 points to burn, so I ordered the poster set! Now for that damn cradle to go back instock!!! Also, can anyone post a pic of the zelda 3ds xl on a cradle, I want to see how it would look on what colors!

I got the zelda poster set for the 500 coins, and I still have 600 coins left. I wait for good games to come out every month, and every month there is nothing that I like or I already have. 500 coins is a lot, but still a nice poster set and I still have a bunch of coins left.

Sweet.  Thanks for the heads up on the Zelda poster set.  I just placed on order for them.  Of course, now watch next month's games are going to be amazing.  Oh well.

It never, ever, ever stops holding your hand. The whole game felt like a tutorial for people who've never played a video game in their life. I thought the three hour farm tutorial in Twilight Princess was bad enough, but to have it stretched out for an entire game's worth is obscene. I know that not everyone has played every game under the sun, but it's one thing to guide you and another to assume you're too mentally insufficient to swing your remote around.

The dungeons are gimmicky and ultimately forgettable just like the majority of the boss battles that bookended them.

The emphasis on story and romance. This is the kicker. The game was a constant groan of 'are you KIDDING me?'. Nothing was sincere and it all felt so cheesy and flat-out awful. Twilight Princess might have been really bad, but at least it wasn't embarrassing to play.

I'm not a hater of the series by any means. I used to love it. Some of the handheld titles are actually pretty good, but these two console entries are just really bad. Twilight Princess was a too-long experiment in repetition, and Skyward Sword was Days of our Lives cel-shaded for toddlers playing Zelda for the first time.
To each his own but I actually liked that the story stepped into the spotlight this time. Seeing as it is a bit of an origin story, it felt appropriate. The characters models were really expressive and the arc for Groose in particular was quite well done.

I've played an obscene amount of games in my life and while the first bit did feel heavy on tutorial, it didn't particularly bother me. I don't feel like my hand was being held but I wasn't looking for something hugely difficult when I was playing it. I felt like the mechanics and world were solidly introduced and implemented.

Gimmicky and innovative are two sides of the same coin. I don't mind gimmicks as long as they're interesting. I thought the items this time around used the motion controls in a much more dynamic and intuitive way than Twilight Princess.

So what if it's built in a way to be someone's first Zelda? There needs to be stuff created with a sense of wonder and accessibility to grow the audience outside of the Call of Duty crowd. Zelda's usually have a "core game" come out every once in a while like the "Orcale" games and Majora's Mask that aren't as accessible but scratch that "added challenge" itch. Darksiders and Okami are other great games that took this style and added a different approach and aesthetic for someone whose experienced a bit more. I love that Skyward Sword is a great jumping on point. I was able to get into it while recommending it to people who don't have the years and years of experience that I do.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. I just wish I saw less vitriol and hyperbole when people have issues with a game. It gives the people who think our hobby is immature far too much ammunition.

I feel there should be more frankness when it comes to games like these. Every single professional Zelda review is nothing but adoration for anything the series shoots out, and mediocrity should not be constantly rewarded. These games are far from terrible games. They play well and do what they intend to just fine, but I am not their target audience anymore.

A large majority of the gaming population has played a Zelda game in their time. Why are these new entries catering to people who've never played one? Not just that, why are they assuming you've never played a game in your LIFE? There are young gamers out there, I understand that, but many old-school gamers like myself grew up with a gaming culture that had zero tutorials. They threw you in the deep end and let you work it out for yourself. That's where the sense of wonder and discovery came for me with gaming. Playing the game and discovering your abilities was a wonderful thing to do.

This is why I adore the Souls series so much. It's everything Zelda was, and infinitely superior in every way.

Do you really expect that they'll offer figurines or anything on that level on Club Nintendo? I've only ever seen mostly mundane items being offered for the last few years, so I can't say that I'd hold out for mythical awesome rewards that'll probably never happen.

The most high profile things I know they've offered were the gold nunchuck, 3DS game card case, and the 3DS XL charging cradles that are still fairly mundane offerings.

Im not saying figures like the figma ones, just normal and small ones that can cost little money. Heck, il even snag a mario theme keychain or even a can opener for all i care as long as its exclusive one. But yeah, it would really be nice for some new physical offerings.

I don't see why anyone is getting on your case. Europe got the Mario Kart trophies and a Legend of Zelda statue. We're also no stranger to weird items, like we had pins in the past and last year there was the Kirby medal. Honestly, I would love to see a blind box series that comes in a ? box with various vinyl Mario figures for 200 - 300 coins.

I didn't really have any particular type of figurine in mind since the range of potential quality is so huge from actually nice stuff to cheap crap that you could get out of a cereal box. Nintendo just seems to play it really safe with rewards with those Kirby patches being the most unique thing, as everything else has the feel of "take a normal item and put Nintendo characters on it" in their design.

Are you kidding me? There were more "unique" items than the kirby patches. The first being the hanafuda cards, which make sense given this is Nintendo, but is far from a normal US item. We also have the Kirby medal, Nintendo fans, Game and Watch ball game and the badge collection in the US. Japan had some weird items like odd games, the pillow and the hand clothes. Though I suppose you could write off anything as "take a normal item and put nintendo characters on it".

Sorry, I forgot about a few of those items in the past. I just looked at what's being offered right now (posters, shirts, DS card cases, greeting cards, tote bags, screensavers, etc.) and noted what was unique. Maybe I should've added "at the moment" to avoid such a hostile response, as it wasn't a personal attack on you or anything like that.

Playing/Hanafuda cards are a pretty simple thing to print new stuff on them, which is why they've had at least a few sets of them up there at various times. Fans are in the same category as the cards.

People may have already figured it out, but the A Link Between Worlds poster set is already OOS.  Just goes to show that they can price these things just about as high as they want, as a fair amount of the dedicated CN members have plenty more coins to burn.

3000 coins and nothing to spend them on right now. I guess I will wait it out and hopefully the zelda posters or 3ds chargers come back in stock. grrr.

Anybody else with a broken charging cradle? Mine only works now if you press down on the 3ds.
Are you making sure the contacts are touching the 3DS? It seems from your description, the contacts are either not coming out, or the mechanism pushing the contacts out is sticky/hard to push.

fuck forgot to get the posters.  seems lots of people on SD just going to flip them.  next time something rare comes up like gold remotes or charging cradles I need to get asap so I can sell and get posters.
