[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I have no problem with people complaining, I just wish everyone that feels slighted by the terrible offerings would take a few minutes and complain where Nintendo can see it. Light up their phones, email, fb, twitter, write an opinion piece for a blog, do something, you know?

I'd like to see Nintendo add another tier to Gold and Platinum, one that takes a lot more points to reach, but offers much better rewards.  As long as it's so easy to reach Platinum, there's no way Nintendo will offer anything of any value as a reward.

But then we'll all wake up to this standing over our beds:

Been there, done that. I made it a huge point when I had to return my Zelda OST and have done some other things (even politely E-Mailed asking Nintendo to add the Epic Yarn Kirby pouches). However, I think most people are well aware it's pointless to complain and only do it to express frustration at the situation. I say "the situation," since I think we can all agree that Club Nintendo would be an amazing program if they changed some very minor things and implemented better plans to move products. Like instead of having the NES $.30 games, they could have put up NES Remix 1 (potentially selling NES Remix 2) and I probably would have bought it for 375 coins (how much it would approximately cost). Same goes for maybe offering Super Luigi U (remember, this game is DLC digitally and is over a year old now) to go with those who got New Super Mario Bros. U from the Mario Kart 8 promo. In all honesty, I don't think either request is that high or extreme (its not like I am asking for Mario Kart 8) and it would logically increase morale / enjoyment of the program. Instead, its becoming increasingly clear that Nintendo doesn't seem to want Club Nintendo to be successful (in the grand scheme anyway) and thats why we keep getting stuff that disappoints people.

I'd like to see Nintendo add another tier to Gold and Platinum, one that takes a lot more points to reach, but offers much better rewards. As long as it's so easy to reach Platinum, there's no way Nintendo will offer anything of any value as a reward.
For most people getting 600 coins IS hard to do. First off, you have to keep in mind that Nintendo tends to keep a high MSRP and things like Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U launch title) is still $59.99 at Best Buy after 1.5~ years, where as Killzone Shadow Fall (PS4 launch title) is 7 / 8 months old and $19.99 or even inFAMOUS SS from March is routinely down to $39.99 or less. Since most Nintendo games cost as much now as when they launched, you're still looking at paying about $600 for 600 coins, which most people won't do. Heck, even with good deals (b2g1 you're still on average paying $40 or $27 per) or buying a system (Even with the Mario Kart 8 bundle you're paying $330 without a deal for about 300 coins as the system gives 160, MK 8 gives around 70 and the free game also gives around 70...), you're still looking at a bit of work to hit 600 coins.

The only real ways to get around this is to flip games, steal / buy / are given codes, capitalize on a series of deals (arguably more luck / skill than the average consumer will put forth), buy a series of cheap games that give coins (this will only work for so long and with only so many titles. Especially with stuff expiring now) and no amount of price increasing is going to make this stuff anymore difficult. More time consuming / bigger investments sure, but it wouldn't really change that much as there will always be other ways (you can or at least could have bought 4 copies of MK 8, flipped 3 of them, register all the games on a family account, obtain every free game and get about 630 coins for about $60 spent in the end [excluding other bonuses]) to beat the system.

It's not going to update today, even though it says the 6th. It never updates on the day listed. It'll MAYBE update tomorrow (given the holiday).
I meant to say within a day (not "the" day) as I made my post early in the morning on the 6th. I've never really paid attention to when they add new games as I usually don't end up getting them until the end of the month they are available. I do know that in the past I've forgotten about getting a few until right after the last day and they always seemed to ditch the ones I wanted right on time, at least.

if it takes them 3 or 4 more days to put up new games that last an entire month, meh, I'm not complaining about that. I was just trying to distract people from complaining about the upcoming platinum reward. I had no idea that would spawn more complaining ;).

Nintendo games do go on sale. I know the MSRP doesn't change, but there's been times where you could get a game for dirt cheap. W101 for example was only $16 a couple months back.

I think the point is that so many more people are getting Platinum status now a days that it's not really an exclusive club anymore. Rewards also seem to be gone in seconds. If they released a new tier where only a select few people can get rewards, they wouldn't disappear so fast AND we would get higher quality rewards as Nintendo wouldn't need to produce so much.

I was speaking generally and even listed an example / way to get 600 coins for only $60 out of pocket, but the average consumer doesn't know what The Wonderful 101 is, much less that it was on sale for $16 a while back or is currently on sale at TRU. However, I suggest we try to avoid discussion on this topic, since at a certain point it's going to lead to the question of whether or not Club Nintendo is actually free again. Why you ask? Well just because you can get games with codes for cheap (Kingdom Hearts, Project X Zone, The Wonderful 101, Game and Wario, Steel Diver, Wii Fit and so forth), there were a number of people arguing that you don't "buy a game for the codes" and if your argument is going to be that you can do it by buying literally every cheap game with coins, then it leads to the logic that people are buying games for codes (something that we've already seen when they're on the cusp, but not in full force) and that reasoning is no longer valid.

With that being said, where are these items that are gone in "seconds?" With the exception of The Link Between Worlds poster set* and 3DS XL cradle, most rewards have stuck around for a week or more. Furthermore, what does a new tier have to do with stock issues? All elite rewards had unlimited stock and Nintendo made enough to fulfill orders and a small reserve for replacements.

* The Link Between Worlds poster set was clearly underproduced when it was originally listed, since it sold out in a few hours. Nintendo eventually reprinted the posters and relisted set lasted at least a month.

Hopefully some decent stuff this month. Last month was horrible. Just checked my account & I have 260 coins atm. It also said on Club Nintendo that Gold/Platinum gifts would be announced soon. Whatever that means Nintendo just give us a date

Whats the point of having a date if Nintendo can't* keep it?

* See multiple times when Nintendo delayed swapping out digital games.

It's all subjective. I thought this (or last, whatever) month was one of the best ever. I got 2 of the 4 and almost considered a 3rd. I rarely get more than 1.

All right, let's see what pops up tomorrow. Hopefully some decent games for once. Hopefully they'll update their site relatively early.

Fingers crossed on cool platinum prize(s). Last 2 years were pretty lame in my opinion, the soundtrack wasn't bad, but I personally would have rather got the pins, or obviously the statue. The playing cards were pretty lame as well. On the positive for Nintendo though, they have an awesome program (Club Nintendo) that no other consoles have!

I'm sitting on close to 1000 coins now. I'm hoping a good wii u game pops up, I would love super mario world but that was a month or two ago so I'm doubting that.

Heck I might just take whatever they offer on wii u so I can get some more stuff for this thing. Except another kirby game. Kirby doesn't do a whole lot for me.

The only platforms I even own are Nintendo platforms, because there isn't enough software on Sony or Microsoft's platforms that interest me so...no problem hitting platinum here. :p

I finished the year with 3800 coins, and i started in January. I have 0 expiring next year too. So Ima take my time and only buy what is worth it. Hopefully Nintendo puts something awesome out for like 2500 coins

I would love to see Nintendo sell an item for 2,500+ coins. I imagine the reactions would be priceless and that alone would probably bring more amusement than whatever said item is.

Have they ever done that?

Ugh. Really hoping for a good Wii U game tomorrow. I'm not banking on the 3DS game to be good at all, they never are.

Highest ever was the Luigi statue for 1,500 followed by the G&W Ball game at 1,200. Beyond those Nintendo likes to keep it in the < 1,000 range with most items being in the 200 - 700 range, which are more reasonable totals for the average user than one that requires nearly 3 years of spending zero coins to obtain.

@ Kerig

Of course? Physical rewards are finite and it's not like world will end if the store sells out of physical goods.

Is it possible for Club Nintendo to just completely run out of all physical rewards?  This is the closest I've ever seen it.  Must be punishment to America for the extremely poor WiiU numbers.

As much as I like my Wii U, it's their own fault they didn't even promote the thing until Mario Kart 8.

Based on their current history I'd say it is random. The only constant is that the rewards are always announced in July.
What they gain from making platinum/gold members wait more than a few days always makes me wonder.

it takes awhile for them to decide what Tomodachi Life art to use for the crappy posters they'll give to platinum members.

Hey man, screw you. All the posters I've gotten from Nintendo have been very nicely printed onto heavyweight matte paper.

I got both the DS games and the G&W Ball game. Didn't have enough for the Luigi statue since they weren't releasing anything worth a crap during that time. Also got the grey t-shirt. However, they need to introduce some new stuff or restock to keep their hardcore interested.

Looks like Nintendo removed some stuff from the Rewards page. For example, the grey Mario t-shirt was previously under 'Currently Unavailable'. Now it's just gone. I hope they're just cleaning up the site in preparation for some new stuff.

For those guys who plat every year, do you roll new coins into your main account and just have a big stack like Scrooge McDuck or do you create new accounts and try to plat those as well?  My gut feeling says just stick with one account, having extra accounts is not worth the hassle and in case of a big coin item its good to have it all on one account.

Not talking about sub accounts (which share coin values) but brand new accounts.

I stick to one account and sit on my friends coins to enter for platinum every year.

It updated. Kid Icarus on 3DS, Metal Torrent for 3DS, DK JR for Wii-U, and Paper Mario for Wii/Wii-U
