Dragon Age II - Gen. Discussion and Info - Mark of the Assassin DLC 10/11 800 pts.

My guess is that they timed it so that the game will ship shortly after the demo is released.
Just enough time for places like Amazon/Gamestop to "lock" the orders so those that hate it can't cancel.

After the MOH open beta thing, wouldn't put it past EA.

I'm not super familiar with how preorders work at Gamestop, but an Amazon preorder probably won't enter the shipping process until the Thursday or Friday before release at the earliest, giving you a good week and a half to cancel if you're so inclined.

I just completed Dead Space (amazing game!), cracked the shrinkwrap on Dead Space 2, and redeemed my Ser Isaac's Armor code. :)

In this case EA's marketing worked on me; I own both DS1 and Extraction but hadn't finished either yet, and was planning on waiting on 2 until I had finished the other games and it had gotten cheaper. But Amazon's $40 DOTD combined with the Dragon Age tie-in was enough to get me to pull the trigger.

If the original DS satisfied you then you're going to adore the sequel. Pretty amazing game all around in my opinion. I just need to get back in the mood to play it again. Depending on the difficulty settings it will undoubtedly kick your ass.

I think I will dive right into DS2 to continue the story, but I almost want do a New Game + in DS1 first for the "One Gun" achievement. I definitely want to play DS1 again but I've heard that the controls are much improved in 2 so I'm afraid it will be tough to go back. Like going back to Mass Effect 1 after playing 2, it felt even more clumsy and kludgy than it did the first time.

Must have just been me then.

The longest I've had an online order locked in from release was 5-6 days Amazon and 10 days Gamestop. In both cases the games shipped a day or two before release.

The control scheme hasn't undergone any serious game breaking or game fixing changes so I'm not exactly sure who is raving about them. It's still more or less the same as the original. A different mechanic and weapons here or there but there's no mistaking you are playing a Dead Space game. You'll feel right at home when you start it.
I personally will hold off on this game until Dragon Age 2 Ultimate comes out with all of the DLC...
See you in a year! We'll leave the light on for you.

The game's release date is two weeks after the demo will be released. I suppose that qualifies as "shortly", but I think it's enough time for somebody to play the demo and make a decision.

And even if they did ship it, you can RETURN unopened new games.

I hope I like the demo I loved Dragon Age Origins for the first 20 hours...then I just got bored. Having things streamlined on the easier difficulty sounds like it will help, since I didn't like the combat in the first.

Browsing through your playlist, it looks like you even skipped on the DA:O Ult edition to.

Sex scene pics... Fenris and Merrill confirmed as love interests.

I also like how someone pointed out that Isabela, like Morrigan, puts on clothes for sex that are actually less revealing than her street clothes. Oh BioWare.

I was thinking this, until I realized that the UE just made me replay one of the best games of this generation So I'll get both, again!

To say the least. :hot: I wonder where she was hiding those things in the mage robe from the livestream. Maybe it had some magical size-reducing properties.

So more cheesy full clothed tree-hugging PG love scenes for a mature rated game, eh? Oh how I love you Bioware. When it comes to being bitches at least you're consistent.

Well their is implied head appearently in the ratings description that I saw. (which is also appearently done with your pants on, but whatever)

lol That's okay you don't have too... I will be occupied with other things. I just do not feel like paying for all that DLC they always come up with... it's not worth it for me... I didn't really like the first one that much to where I would get the second on near release time and buy all of the DLC... However, Mass Effect 3 I will get release date and wouldn't really mind paying for the DLC that comes with it... Dragon Age just wasn't what I had expected from Bioware... I will probably try the game out when it comes in my store and keep it if I like it...

Why would I get the Ultimate Edition if I have Dragon Age and all of the DLC except for Awakening... That's a waste of money... Plus, I had Awakening come through my store many times so I will just take it home one of these days and check it out...

The less said about the ridiculous underwear-clad dry humping in Origins, the better.

I would have predicted that BioWare would go the ME2 route-- keep things PG by sidelining the actual sex and focusing on dialog instead, which mostly worked despite seeming oddly tame in comparison to its predecessor.

Clearly that's not the case though.

I'll honestly believe it when I experience for myself. When the developers deflect or avoid comment at all costs for minor details such as this I don't see much point to taking everything they say at face value until launch or viable proof surfaces. I'm fresh out of "faith" when it comes to Bioware.

Yeah, I don't have a ton of faith that it won't just be a repeat of Origins.

If you're going to go for risque and sexy, then go all out. Don't be afraid to offend some folks. It's an M rated game after all.

Otherwise keep the clothes on and focus on the emotional aspect (again, like ME2).

Attempting to split the difference leads nowhere good. Specifically, it leads to clothed people awkwardly grinding on each other in the unsexiest way possible.

Exactly.

If this were a title of a lower rating or ME1 never handled romance scenes in such a tastefully mature and realistic manner then I wouldn't have any problem with it. I'm glad one of the Bioware posters eagerly pointed out the unapologetic nature of the Reyes sex scene in RDR which nobody cared about yet ME was put on blast via Fox News due to gross parental negligence. Why Bioware hasn't taken notes from Rockstar is beyond me. It's funny how the "this is our game so if you don't like its direction or content you can feel free to go f*ck yourselves because we aren't changing anything for you" attitude only applies to a certain percent of their fan base and no one else. It's pretty damn pathetic.

I'm personally not asking for Rockstar tier graphic depictions or softcore porn in my DA nor would I ever welcome them. The point is a little realism for a mature rated title is to be expected not requested. Watching them bend over ass backwards at the first sign of "bad press" after the ME1 debacle has me wondering just how long it is going to take before we start losing access to real content because another opportunistic outsider's temper tantrum caught the media's attention.

Looks like you'll have to get the PC version and wait for the necessary mods before seeing anything more than the Disney Channel love scenes that this game has to offer - just like DA:O

Oh...and femHawke...

Same. Plus I'm still playing the Ultimate Edition (which I also waited for). Nearing the end of the main game I think (and played all the in-game DLC), so still have the 3 stand alone DLC chapters and the Awakening expansion to get through.

I like the game well enough, but not on par with something like the Mass Effect games where I want to buy right away and don't mind paying for the DLC as it comes out.

I hate the combat and micro management in DA, so it's just not worth that kind of money to me to buy the sequel and DLC along the way vs. waiting a year or two for the ultimate edition.

Judging from the ever so predictable deflection from Gaider almost a split second after such sentiment from the community was revealed, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave her an emergency reduction just to troll us. Kind of like what they probably did to Merrill midway through development before her pictures surfaced but they'd never admit it even if it did really happen.

Just saw Ryu's spoiler... LOL. Finally Shep's creepy smile has found a home.

It does seem kind of like there's some blurring or soft-focus going on at the bottom of the frame which may be... distorting things a bit. Still, they are the ones who mock up and choose these screenshots to publish, so whether or not it accurately reflects Hawke's model, this is what they wanted us to see.

It was great how Gaider popped up in the thread to warn people not to jump to conclusions. Because yeah, just because Hawke and Fenris are naked together, it doesn't mean he's confirmed as a love interest. Maybe they're just going swimming! It's totally not what it looks like guys!

I say should such a magnificent bust remain intact for launch we demand the option of boxing all manner of Darkspawn with them at our leisure. Anyone who has played through Dead Space is well aware of how Kendra must have survived on the Ishimura when her clip ran dry.

Kendra.jpg

Surprise suffocation/blunt head trauma > dismemberment.

EDIT: Poor Gaider... apparently his fellow devs decided to keep him in the dark about revealing the complete list of LIs today. Shame. Looks like my boy Anders is going to get a slice of that Hawke pie in one of my play-throughs. I can dig it. Since the main character of the series is Ferelden though the odds of them going on a Templar hunt in the future is minute to say the least. ;(

Sucks the three most attractive female characters in the game are apparently your sister, yourself, and a potential antagonist (Cass) but so be it. I could have sworn they mentioned earlier the option of outsider type NPC LIs e.g. Kelly Chambers as well but it might have been a fan based rumor.

Just came here to post this. Sorry dwarf fanciers!

I totally agree on your assessment of the female prospects too. I'll probably end up going for Merrill on my male character, but he'll be carrying a torch for Cassandra.

I've always wondered that myself. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a glitch or shopped exaggeration. Either way it's truly one hell of a priceless expression.
So the question is Isabella a switch hitter? She was in Origins.
Probably.
Felicia Day and ensemble cast doing a 6-part web video series named Dragon Age: Redemption. Takes place in Ferelden seemingly in time with DA Origins/beginning of DA 2. She plays an Elven assassin named Tallis.

I want her character as DLC for DA 2 immediately.

This has the potential to either become a masterpiece or a complete catastrophe. I'm sort of leaning toward it edging out on mediocre myself. Felicia's adorable and The Guild is brilliant but the lack of any hint regarding story tone has my interest waning considerably.

If it leans more toward comedy than anything else then I could easily imagine an epic end result.

Web series are not really my thing, but... If they had a chance to get Felicia Day in the game, and they chose this instead, Fail! Get her in the game BioWare!

He does it during some paragon responses in Normandy conversations. I remember him smiling like that during a conversation with Jacob in particular. I don't know about any other times.
Looks like BioWare is going to give out some in-game items if the DA2 demo is downloaded a million times.
I wonder if I "download" it on my wife and kids profiles if that'll count towards it each time.

We'll likely get around 150,000 - 500,000 and that's if we're lucky. Maybe a little more if they exaggerate the ME elements of the game in the weeks to come. Fortunately it's for all platforms so maybe I'm just being a grumpy gus. I really want those items though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a miracle.

I think it'll hit 1 million easy. But, then again, I'm rather optimistic/biased when it comes to BioWare :D

If this were an established shooter rather than an Action RPG I wouldn't be as skeptical of the demo's success. You have to keep in mind not every ME fan is even aware of or cared much for Dragon Age. I think an aggressive/clever marketing campaign is necessary for them to even come close to reaching those numbers before March 1st. Fans of the company and game itself will make themselves known no question about it. If Felicia herself got involved I'd feel a little more confident in the endeavor but ultimately wouldn't expect much.

If Bioware is expecting to sit on their laurels while entire ME2 fan base picks up the slack they are I think they are in for a rude awakening.

Quick question: Is the Bioware Signature Edition going to look any different from the regular edition or will it just have some added codes.

Was hoping this would have a CE like Fable 3 with some cool swag. Guess not.

The first game sold over 3.2 million copies. It's really not that crazy to expect the demo to be downloaded a million times over all platforms. Dragon Age was no slouch in the sales department. In fact I'm pretty sure it sold more than ME2.
