The Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition comes with:
•Let it Ride! In a huge, open world with unlimited options you can see the sights, choose sides, or go it alone. Peacemaker or Hard Case, House Rules, or the Wild Card - it’s all in how you play the game

•“Lucky 7” poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
•A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas!
•A recreation of the game’s highly coveted “Lucky 38” platinum chip.
•A hardcover graphic novel “All Roads”, that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. “All Roads” was written by Chris Avellone, the game’s creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
•‘The Making of Fallout: New Vegas’ DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.

Too bad it doesn't have a lunchbox and bobblehead, but I'm still switching my pre-order as soon as it goes up on Amazon.

I think I'll hold out and just buy the hc comic off of someone later for $5. I was also hoping for a bobblehead, but maybe someone will have one as a preorder bonus.

To the folks who keep whining and saying they are tired of Fallout, or over Fallout, or Bethesda should move on ... I have an idea ... STFU and GTFO ... why are you even here? Did you feel the need to just drop by and let us know? No one cares that you're over it ... this isn't a thread about "Games I'm not really into but need to comment on" ... it's obviously targeted at fans of the franchise who will choose to support Bethesda and Obsidian with their money.

If you want to wait 6 months or a year and buy it for .10 ... I don't give a fuck ... yes ... many games and special editions drop in value over time. It's obviously not for everyone, but Christ, does there really need to be 1 comment out of every 4 or 5 telling us to save our money because it will be cheaper? This happens in every special edition thread ... so really, why waste the space ... Fans will buy this ... if you are not a fan, why are you here?

PMS?

lol just kidding:D

lot of bitchy people in this thread.

i couldn't get 25off to work either. was hoping to replace my non-CE pre-order with this one.

Can't wait until this game comes out. Fallout 3 has probably been the best game of this generation so far in my opinion, and this is looking to be even better. I hope a Fallout 4 announcement comes soon after this drops.

Dang it, I was hoping for this game to come out sooner. I'll definitely bite if there ends up being some deal where the CE becomes close to the regular version's price. After playing Fallout 3, I don't know if I'm patient enough to wait that long after release. I hope Amazon comes up with something good.

Sick of Fallout? Fallout 3 was the first real Fallout in like a decade, how can anyone get sick of Fallout? (Aside from playing Fallout 3 nonstop to the point of sleep deprivation for weeks in a row like I pretty much did.)
I'm a fan of your tears.
No Jodou, come on now, I've been here long enough to know that you are just the friendly neighborhood troll, return that copy of Lost Planet yet and keep your swag? ;)

I played Fallout 3 a year ago thinking the Main Storyline was going to be epic/longer, I was disappointed when it ended so suddenly :(, didn't get to finish most of the side quests and since I didn't have Broken Steel I just quit playing and moved to another game.

But now is my chance to finally play Fallout and explore it 100%, I won't make the same mistake again!

PS. Hope we get sweet gift card deals from Amazon.

^^^This.

Not to mention Obsidian has a track record of producing massively buggy games, with even more massive excuses for their bumbling of projects. Alpha Protocol looks last-gen (graphics, horrid animations, horrid and clunky controls, cheesy and poorly written dialogue, etc.). KOTOR2 was a mess (oh that's right it was Lucas Arts fault....always the publishers fault), NWN2...buggy mess...and so will this.

I'll put it this way. Fallout 3 was a coding mess with its own share of bugs and crashes. Now that it's in Obsidian's hands, you can turn up these effects to 11.

A CE for an expansion made by one of the worst developers when it comes to bugs and polish?

No thanks...

Normally I'd say you're right ... as I tend to avoid Obsidian based on KOTOR II back in the day, but ... I think there are several factors to keep in mind with Fallout: NV.

1. The engine and framework is already done for the most part, so really this game is based more on the story and what they do with the engine .. sure it's not Fallout IV but no one ever said it was.

2. Obsidian is composed of a good number of folks from Black Isle, some of whom were even working on Van Burren (the original Fallout 3) when that project got canned, so I'm excited to see where they take the story and Fallout mythos, more than I am about what they do to revolutionize the gameplay and underlying mechanics or graphics.

So while I can understand your apprehension with Obsidian, I think this is the best possible project you could get from them because they aren't building the game from the ground up and they're mostly focused on story ... which I think will be the draw for most fans of previous Fallout games.

Do I expect bugs, sure ... it's something you tend to get used to with Bethesda games, but their scope and playability always outweighs those inconveniences.

If anything, I think Fallout New Vegas will be a bit more familiar to fans of 1 & 2 simply because it has more opportunity to connect back with those original stories while creating new characters and plot points, so I have no doubt about picking it up on day one.

Have you gone back to the Goty edition? You really owe it to yourself if you haven't, and I'm not even talking about Broken Steel ... some of the other expansions were really great, my favorite is probably Point Lookout ... it was so different for Fallout, but it was really great ... the Pitt was fun too if you're a fan of Mad Max type movies.

While I agree that Bethesda does have a well-documented habit of bugs in their games, they also make some of the games that are the reason to own a current-gen console. I will absolutely be getting the CE of NV. Finally, (in my opinion) a CE worth my hard-earned $20 extra.

All I'm saying is I will have my reservations until this game is out and see how it actually turns out. I know they have a few remnants from Black Isle, but I think the real talent from B.I. are lost forever...except of course for Chris Avellone, his past stuff was great, decent in NWN2, but I'm losing faith as the dialogue in Alpha Protocol is pretty bad.

J.E. Sawyer on the other hand is cursed and any project he touches is doomed to die a horrible death.

So again...I'll wait and see...but I certainly will not have any hopes for this.

So, is this game DLC for Fallout 3 or is this a standalone new fallout game??? If it's DLC, do you get a voucher for the game to download or is it on a disk?

Thtats what i felt about Fallout 3. As soon as i heard it was being made by Bethseda and is gonna be a "fps", I wrote off that game as going to be a huge bomb. I was wrong and it turned out to be a great game. As for New Vegas, even with some of the original BI people making the game. It would never be as good as fallout 1+2. And i hope New Vegas is at least as good as Fallout 3.

Agree, NWN2 was pretty much unplayable until after a year/ 6 patches. Not very confident in them. Will try and give them the beneift of the doubt since some that work there created FO 1 and 2, but will wait until some reputable reviews are in before I think of buying it. Glad the rest of you like the CE, hope you enjoy it.

Okay... Whether you liked Fallout 3 or not, it outsold Elder Scrolls by a large margin. So let's be honest here, Bethesda has every reason to keep making them until that changes.

Secondly, this isn't even being developed by Bethesda, it's by Obsidian. Interestingly enough if you look at the folks on Obsidian's team... It's a lot of the folks who made Fallout 1 and 2 on the PC. This is a great turn of events.

As for Fallout 4, I can't recall whom, but more than a year ago someone at Bethesda (I believe this was just as the first expansion was about to or just had come out) stated that a Fallout 4 was in preliminary work, but would not begin serious development until after all five content expansions were released. They also stated that it would be either a significantly upgraded version of the game's engine, or a brand new engine. No news has come out since then, but there's a very logical reason for that: Bethesda is still PUBLISHING New Vegas. Starting the hype on Fallout 4 before New Vegas hit store shelves would cause consumer confusion and hurt sales. It would be a matter of creating your own artificial competition, so you're not going to hear much info regarding Fallout 4 until much further in the development cycle. Figure New Vegas will need to sell for a few months(so that it will have moved plenty of units), it might even be longer if DLC is planned... And it likely is. Realistically, I don't think we'll see a trailer until well into 2011, Bethesda knows how to space things out.

They've also said that an Elder Scrolls V is on their road map, it's just not the highest priority because there's a much larger (and slightly rabid) fanbase for the Fallout series. I imagine this is because there had been a gap of nearly ten years since the last true sequel (Fallout 2 for the PC).

Hope that helps to clear up some confusion.

I personally am not impressed with this CE, and I'm pretty easy to please on these things. It's just not an attractive set, to be honest, I'm never going to put in the DVD, and having been annoyed with studios trying to cram small decks of cards and other small garbage into my bag at E3 a few years back... Only the comic brings up even MILD interest.

Perhaps Amazon will come through with a better option? I was sad to have missed the Pip Boy alarm clock with F3, that looked pretty awesome.

This is a brand new game. Instead of taking place in DC/The Capital Wastelands, it will take place in Las Vegas. You don't need Fallout 3, this is a stand alone release that will take 40+ hours to finish.
Looks like an awesome package but wish it had some exclusive DLC.
I'd prefer they didn't strip any of the content out of the game just so they could throw a code in the box.

Agree bonus/exclusive DLC is the biggest scam their is, its content they cut out and use to market or exploit buyers.
for all those who say these won't go lower..you could have found the Fallout 3 lunchbox on clearance at BB for $49.99, some even went as low as $34.99 IIRC..so, no D1P (did you just coin that abbreviation aleradiers? ;) ) for me..will take my chances and pick it up for cheaper further down the road.

As it was, I got the lunchbox after I bought Fallout 3 regular and GOTY editions..
They'll almost definitely be around unless they produce a smaller number than they did with Fallout 3. I saw a new copy of Fallout 3 CE for PS3 at Gamestop for $39.99 just this past Saturday.

How is an extra weapon or armor content cut out? It's always something small and relatively insignificant that you get with collectors edition dlc.

I'm not into Collectors Editions but Fallout has had some cool special editions that I almost wanted to buy...

Hopefully I'll have enough saved from flipping free games from BB to preorder the PC CE before I leave for college in the fall. :D

Well stated post, I just wanted to say that it's actually a good thing you missed out on the Pip Boy ... I almost bought it, had it pre-ordered forever and canceled at the very last minute. If you read up on it, for the price Amazon was charging, it's actually one of the most infamous and worst examples of a CE exclusive. I too loved the concept, but evidently the implementation of the idea was poorly realized when it came to the actual clock.

I can understand why too, with such a low production run, it would be hard to make a high quality item without charging significantly more. A plastic mold alone is costly, and when you aren't selling hundreds of thousands it actually costs more because the returns will be so low for a small number. From what I've read the clock itself is absolutely awful and bare bones, hardly even an alarm per se. And then there were all the folks who received broken ones and had no recourse because a limited number was made and there wasn't any sort of real replacement program.

While I'm not as excited for this CE as I was for the lunchbox CE, I do like the fact that they're including items you'll find in the game world. What this really comes down to for me is the quality of those items, if they're quality chips and the platinum chip is actual metal, I'll be impressed. Plus the artwork on the cards and chips could be fantastic ... only time will tell, but I'm definitely interested enough to pre-order.
I wish they'd put the series to rest again and work on another Elder Scrolls / Oblivion
Fallout is so many times better than Elder Scrolls / Oblivion it's not even funny. FACT.

when has CE stuff actually been good?

halo cat helmet?

mw2 eyeclops goggles?

artbooks and cds that you only listen to once, if at all?

well, the bioshock 2 lp was nice but very niche. and the fallout 3 lunchbox was cool. but being cool and something I'm going to pay to own is completely different.

Cheers - this is the best. My hats off to you.

Wow, so many people wishing it was a bobble-head. They already did the bobble-head, why would you want them to do that again? I think this CE is very well put together. It keeps with the theme that they've chosen. This set has definitely earned the $20 higher price tag. The only thing missing is a steelbook, as usual with the majority of oversized box CEs.

World of Warcraft CE's (all of them)
Diablo 2 - came with epic amounts of stuff, google it
World in Conflict
Unreal III (I got a T-shirt wtih it)
Warcraft III
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (Ok, I like the box)
Heroes of Might and Magic V
Half Life 2 (came with a T-shirt)
Spore
Disciples II
Halo 3 Legendary Edition that I got for 60 bucks (yeah, I waited on this one, but I didn't have a 360 at the time)
GTA IV
Sins of a Solar Empire
Bioshock
Mass Effect II

Yeah.. I know, I'm going to get the "OMGWTF PC gaming" or "Hey, that one game X I totally don't agree with, so your wrong" - but there have been a good number of CE's that have had good stuff.

With that said... I agree, it's going to hell in a hand-basket - we need bigger boxes and more free stuff. I just got done bending over for the CE of Starcraft... man it hurt. =(

I am shocked there is no extra dlc if you get this version. I do not want the other stuff but would like some special dlc content for preordering it or something

Lol, Kmart failed me by not having the plush. I'm just glad I called ahead and didn't waste my time on their worthless asses.
I am shocked there is no extra dlc if you get this version. I do not want the other stuff but would like some special dlc content for preordering it or something
It's not really that shocking is it? Did Fallout 3 have any type of exclusive DLC in terms of items or mini quests? Of course you're going to tell me "Of course, it had 5 DLC packs" but those were self contained projects for the most part. Fallout 3 never had items that you could purchase and I'm actually really happy about that. Can you imagine what it would be like if Bethesda started to nickle and dime us for certain weapons or in game outfits. *cough*horsearmor*cough*

Think of it this way, in New Vegas you'll be able to customize your weapons in a level that wasn't present in F3, so that's your DLC equivalent in any version of the game ... make yourself a brand spankin new, never before seen weapon and tell all your friends it came with the CE ;)
