Free Steam games - Half Life 2 Deathmatch, Codename Gordon, Spacewar, and more...

Chuplayer

CAGiversary!
...but the "and more" is rather lame.

EDIT: But according to kilm's link, it looks like a bunch of the below are mistakenly labeled as demos. If it says demo, it may be the full game!

Only Half Life 2 Deathmatch is saving you any money. Still, money saved is better than money spent.

You need an ATI or Nvidia graphics card to qualify for Half Life 2 Deathmatch. Follow these links. These also contain Lost Coast in case you missed out on it because you were gifted games or something.
ATI: http://steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/
Nvidia: http://steampowered.com/nvidia/

The ATI link personally worked for me. I don't have an Nvidia card in this computer, so I don't know about that.

The rest of the games are free demos or regularly free games. Still, it doesn't seem like you can normally install Codename Gordon and Spacewar. If you didn't already know about those, then here's your chance to play them.

awww, i can't take advantage of steam, those guys are awesome. i bought HL2 collectors box, and half of these were free anyway, like codename gordan, HL2 deathmatch, after i downloaded the 1 $20 HL2 box i ended up having like 10 free games, like 4 demos. And almost all were awesome. Garry's mod ver. 9 was free even :D.

It might be a good idea for someone who is up to date with steam to post all of their full games that are free (really free not accidentally labeled as demo). like zombie master and all the rest :D.

Interestingly, I just asked my friend if he knew of any interesting steam games, and pointed me to this thread!

It looks like Trackmania might be a decent way to test your rig. It seems somewhat graphically intensive. I only got about an average 53FPS on it when I ran the benchmark with everything maxed. I can run plenty of other games at just a fraction shy of an average of 60FPS with everything maxed.

You know it just recently occurred to me that there is a huge flaw in the steam for a user like me who has kids. Because you need to be logged into your steam account to play a game, you can only play a single game at a time in your collection. Other members of your household cannot play any other game in your collection. Period.

Maybe I just haven't figured out how to play games while not logged onto steam, but this seems like a real limitation.

Start steam in offline mode

This, install your games on the other PCs and set those instances of steam to start in offline mode so you can still connect on your primary pc.

Dang, I'm slightly parinoid I'm going to get in trouble for downloading Gordan and Space Wars, even though they're the ones that put them up there :whistle2:/

Is that THE Space Wars? My brother and I played an awesome DOS version back in the day. Well...awesome for early 80's. I'd still play it over the endless dual joystick shooters though.
