DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
The 1 gig was never $34.99...it's original markdown price was $60, then $30, and now $15. They're either making up prices or they were looking at a price tag on an old 512 stick, which I think was $34.99 at one point. Personally, I think calling is a waste of time. Asking prices in store is a waste of time. Just have them scan it...otherwise they look at the tag on the item and tell you it's that price.
So...my gamerush had a pile they they marked "clearance" and everything was 5-10 dollars. I also found some of the games in this forum that wasnt in that clearance pile. Are all these games in this forum thats listed as 75% off really 75% off. Do i just tell them to scan it and get the discount, or is it at the discretion of the store?
Traded in the games mentioned first post of this page. Met up with MightySlacker to hand him his DS Lite, which led to some enjoyment tangling with the manager to get a cash refund for me so he could rebuy it with his credit :D

Tons of clearance games here. I picked up 7, including the MK Deception Premium Edition. Lots of Baten Kaitos, Metroid Prime 2s, NBA Street V3s, Mega Man Anniversary Collections (PS2), etc, etc.
MY HERO

question..
has anyone ever been turned down on your trades because you didn't have a box or coverart?

I ask because, i threw my boxes away since i had to go far away for college and had so many games it would be a hassle to bring them all. I just store them in binders.

But yesterday i go to trade in some games, and I am immediatly told they can't take the games because they have no cases. The manager is called over when i dispute this - as I raded in games without cases in january. She told me for a couple of months that new policy has been in effect. When I pointed out the used games they had on the racks without original cases or coverart, she said that they don't sell so she won't take them.

Anyone have any experience with this? I thought I could trade them in without cases or coverart as they sold them to me that way - without coverart i mean. is this actually a new policy?

thanks in advance
the no longer take games without boxes, artwork or manual. Got rejected today for one game.
Eh, I traded one not long ago. I doubt there's any corporate policy on it.

Well, damn, I got one of these from CompUSA for $5 during my last trip to DC. I figured it would be worth nothing and returned it (only had 21 days to do so) when it looked like the GR deal might only be $5 total bonus for 3 games.

Oh well, I guess I more than made up for it in CC fodder :D.

What was the game someone mentioned as a cheap pickup at EB to trade back into GR? Since I am going to EB so often recently I might as well look into it.
the no longer take games without boxes, artwork or manual. Got rejected today for one game.
Like botticus, I've traded boxless games recently. I trade two of them at two different locations in the past week, so i'm guessing it just depends on the manager at your location.

Yeah, I've traded in about 7 or 8 without cover art in the last couple months. I've had a few isolated problems. Went in to trade about 15 games and left with over $200 in credit tonight. All games qualified for the bonus except Max Payne. Prices before $5 bonus:

PS2
Flatout-$24
Driver:pL$16
Total Overdose-$12
Max Payne-$1 did not qualify
Tony Hawk 3-$1.50
Disaster Report-$2.25
Nightmare before-$19
Splinter Cell-$2.25
Spyro:Enter the Dragon-$2.50

Xbox
Sims-0.50

GC
Road Trip- $19
Warioware-$1
Star Fox adventures(on sale at Kmart for $2)-$6

Finally was able to get some games today at GR.. these were all marked clearance and had a pink sticker on them..

Harry Potter/Chamber of Secrets (GC) - $3.75
Killer 7 (PS2) - $3.75
Death By Degrees (PS2) - $5
Pariah (XBX) - $5
Psychonauts (PS2) - $7.50

I did have a bunch of other games too but they all rang up at their sticker prices which ranged from $18 to $34.99..
I also found it odd that a 'NEW' copy of 'Polar Express (PS2)' is $3.75 but a 'USED' copy of the same game is $9.99.. they didn't have a new copy and refused to sell me the USED one for $3.75 - that's nuts!

****************************
CAGWIKI TRADE IN VALUE UPDATES
****************************
Halo 2 Limited Edition - still $9.50
Super Smash Bros. Melee - still $13.50
Doom 3 (regular edition, XB) - Still $6.00
Resident Evil (GC) - Still $7.00
Mario Kart: Double Dash - $12.00 (New addition)

Plus, I got the $5 bonus for each of those, so $77.38 total after the bonus and tax (yah, we get tax in Indiana). Not bad considering I paid $10 each for the Xbox games at TRU months ago and I got the 3 Gamecube games for $3.75 each at a garage sale last week. Over $50 profit.

Another bonus, I finally found a copy of Age of Empires DS, complete and used, for $25 in GR credit. Looking at my receipt, it rang up at $30 but the tag said $24.99 so it was manually adjusted to that price. Not sure if $30 is the new price or not as I've never actually seen a new copy at GR.

I also grabbed another sealed Wavebird rechargeable battery pack (25 cents) for my extra Wavebird and another Madkatz GC 6 foot extension cable for $1.00 so I have another spare for when my cat inevitably chews up the ones I'm using to play Donkey Konga and DDR now.

Go to page 1 of this thread. Every game in every Gamerush in the country will ring up at the reported prices. It's as simple as that. If a game is already marked at $5...then that's probably the 75% off price. You don't get 75% off of the $5.

Hey does the clearance games count with used games? My Blockbuster carries about 20 or so new games the rest are used games...There are a couple of Gamecube games on the clearance list that i want but its used....Has anyone had any success in getting the %75 clearance sale on used games? If this has been asked sorry...
Some updated trade values...nothing surprising. Values are before $5 bonus.

PS2
- Bujingai - $10 - 6/29/06
I find that Bujingai price pretty surprising. I thought I saw it selling for less than $15 at one of my local GameRushes - something like $12.99. At that trade value, it's too bad the local Sears stores don't have any more $5 clearance copies. $10 profit after bonus sounds pretty good. :D

No, the 75% off is only for the new clearance games, which are listed in the first post in this thread.

No. The used games ring up at full used price.

Example, Ridge Racer for PSP is $10 brand new. The same game is $25 used. The used prices may be adjusted eventually but not yet.

Some of the games might've already been adjusted. I was looking for Mario Party 6 at one GR and I saw it behind the glass shelf. I asked the lady to get me the game but I didn't notice it having a preplayed sticker until the lady scanned the game. The preplayed sticker said $39.99 or something but the game ranged up at $16.99. More than the price of a new copy but at $16.99 complete with mic, I'm not complaining.
the no longer take games without boxes, artwork or manual. Got rejected today for one game.
I traded in 2 games without manuals today...they didn't even notice. They are supposed to take the game without the case...but really, it's up to the manager. If I ran a store, I'd reject the games without cases too. Those never seem to sell...people like their games complete. I wish all the chains would stop taking disc-only games. It would train the casual gamers to take better care of their stuff and keep the cases and manuals.

That game, along with a bunch of others, were adjusted before this sale. Considering it's $12.50 new, it should theoretically drop to like $10 used. We'll see. I'm not sure who in their right mind would trade any used Mario Party games into GR at their current $4.50 trade-in values though.

I agree... Well, I like to have my games complete with a mint case, slip cover, manual and disc. Most of the time my BB/GR titles don't come with a manual which sucks...
The preplayed sticker said $39.99 or something but the game ranged up at $16.99.
Still waiting for Death Jr. to drop. One of my BB stores has the $34.99 sticker but I had the CSR at GR ring it up and it was $16.99 pre-played.

Gamerush is back from the dead!
the 75% off is at GR's and BB's right?
What does the Thread title say? C'mon.

Anyways, hit up another BB. This time no games were stickers, nothing put into the 'special areas'. So I had my pick up a fairly virgin store. Too bad they didn't have much of anything. I did find, and pass on a new copy of Phoenix Wright though.

Many people don't care if it's complete or disc only, they just want it to play, and for a non collector if it's the choice between a disc only or nothing at all they will take a disc only.

I think if disc only's were so unprofitable Gamestop would have stopped taking them in years ago.

if your blockbuster doesn't have a gamerush would they still have prices similar to these? :(
You use your GameRush value card at Blockbusters that don't have GR all the time? Or you use BB value cards all the time?
Sorry to sound like a noobie, but there are Gamerush value cards?? You learn something new every day I guess. Mine has never had anything but the Blockbuster Value cards - so when I've talked about "Value Cards" in the past I meant those. Then there are the Blockbuster gift cards, which clerks at regular BB's seem to have an easier time dealing with.

I guess it is just as well not to have the "Gamerush" branded ones as I could see some regular BB's being confused by those :D.

AoE is $29.99 new - there's been one at my GR forever.

And just so you know, I bought 3 of those Wavebird battery packs when they were 99 cents and not a single one worked. They are utter crap. I think many others here reported them not working as well. In fact, I don't think anyone got one that worked (or worked well in any case).

I got my GR Value card since mine opened like 3 years ago. I still use it today, even though it's all beaten up. I'm not sure if they still distribute those cards today.

Traded: (6/29/06)

PS2
Combat Eilte WWII Paratroopers - $16
Caslevania - COD - $12
Driver Parallel Lines - $16
XBOX
187 Ride or Die - $6

With the $5 extra, total $70

Did this at a regular BB, he had the instructions in front of him, but couldn't figure out how to do it. Instead, he over road the prices and added $5 to each game

Warning, this might be because they have disabled the promo in your area (as they have in mine). So I'd go back to that same guy ASAP if you want to trade more at regular BB's before he catches on :D.

Can you elaborate more on this? I've been stopping by BB's this week, but none of them know about the promo, except one of them. He found the paper work but still didnt know how to do it. All the paper work said was Trade 3+ and get $5 additional per game, no bar code or instructinos. After calling around, he finally just decided to trade them in, then manually later give me the extra $5 per game.

Did your local BB tell you they disabled the promo? Is it at all the non gamerush BBs in your area? Is there a reason, I remember how they pulled the trade 3 and get a used one for $5 earlier, but it hasnt even been a week.

That sucks if they're doing that. All the GR's in my area are urging me to trade in games that I don't play and showered me with how great of a deal this $5 extra trade-in is. And I'm not kidding, after paying for a few 75% games at one GR and exited the store, the BB lady stuck her head out of the exit door to yell at me about their $5 trade-in promo.

I love my GRs :)
PD0 LE gets LESS then the regular version? Amazing.
That is really strange, to say the least. I guess I'll be swapping copies with my friend (he bought the regular, I bought the LE)....

I guess asking for the logic behind this one would probably be too much for them to answer. :p

Well, when I say BB, I mean non-GR BB's. We have one GR around here, and the two BB's I've gone to told me I had to go to the GR for the promo. The first one (closest to me) flat out said it as soon as I mentioned the promo. They "are not participating". The second one hadn't heard about the deal, looked it up in their MAP, and tried to do it according ot the instructions. There are, apparently, instructions in the MAP. But it didn't work. When she called her manager he told her they were "not participating", but they ran it through by overriding the prices just this one time since she told me it was OK at first.

So, basically, I have to take all my trades into GR, which is not necessarily convenient. Plus I can't spread stuff around if I have to do all my trades at one store. :D

Basically, if you have a GR you are fine. I'm not talking GR here, just regular BB's. Apparently in my district they have decided not to have the regular BB's participate. So I was trying to warn people to call and ask first before they go to a regular BB expecting the $5 bonus.

At my GR, on the other hand, they welcomed the trades as their used stock was getting pretty pathetic. I think maybe the BB's around here just don't want to deal with too many trade-ins. Of course, they still take them, just not with the bonus.

I could try a few more regular BB's and maybe get a few trades in, but I'm not sure it is worth the hassle.
